  • How to add an item to the top of a dynamic list

    Like the title states, does anyone out there have a clear way to implement this type of functionality? Example: If you go to http://weewar.com, in their front page you noticed an ajax module that updates every second. However, all of the new items are added to the top of the list. My question is around that very same functionality. Does anyone have an easy and clear idea as to how one would implement this functionality? So far I have a method that initially creates the list, then another method is called in an interval that pulls the most recent data from the server.. However, I'm stuck with, how can I add the new dynamic node to the top of the list. If you can guide me to where I can find this information or give me an idea as to how I can implement this I will be very happy and grateful :) Thanks in advanced.

    This question asks about file name the servers sends and the fix was quite simply a content-disposition header in the http response. What I interested in is does anyone know of any way to do this from the client side if the file name is already known? Is there any special javascript to do this for example? A site I have to use but not mine has a FileDownload.aspx but it doesn't send the content-disposition header. I know the filename and would like to be able to create a firefox extensions to use for the poorly coded web site. Thanks

I am trying to create a drop down menu, something I have now is like: <select> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="opel">Opel</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> but this is not exactly what I want. I want to create a drop down list very similar to the one on Amazon.com (the dropdown list beside "Search"), shown in following pic. so whenever user click on the button, the list will be displayed in the button as text.   • IE div width + scrollbar

    I have a modal UI in my web app that necessitates a fixed layout design. After much fussing, I decided absolutely positioned child elements was the way to go. However, I have one div that conditionally requires a vertical scrollbar (if there's too much content). When this scrollbar is added, the width of the div seems to vary between IE 7 and IE 8. IE8 standards mode: IE7 standards mode: I haven't even tested for IE 6, but I'm sure it's even funkier. What's the simplest, least painful way to address this to arrive at a consistent UI in all major browsers?

    Hello. I need to recalculate body's main div height, than wait while all content (images) loads and only than show it to site visitor. In Chrome height calculation works, but seems that body doesn't hides, because all images loads as usual they should. In Opera, both functions doesn't work.   • pre tag is being formatted strangely in page

    I am outputting some code in one of my pages, using a <pre> tag. The code is being output correctly, but for some strange reason, the first line of the code is indented (i.e. shifted to the right, by quite a large amount). I am not applying any style to that element, and I checked in FF Firebug and no styling is being applied, so I have no idea why the first line is shifted by so much to the right - any ideas? the code that generates the tag looks like this: <pre> <?php echo $script_code; ?> </pre> The generated code looks like this: <iframe src="http://www.example.com"> </iframe> Any ideas what may be going wrong?

  • named anchors not working in safari

    Hi there, can anyone explain why named anchor tags would not work in safari but work fine in other browsers: ie, ff, opera, chrome. I have some links to different areas of the same page and nothing happens when clicking on them in safari only. All the other browsers mentioned take me to that area of the page. I have tried using both the id and the name attribute for the anchors but neither makes any difference.

  • Simple question about javascript history.go

    I have a classifieds website. In every classified, there is a back link which simply takes the browser back one step. This is because when users search classifieds, and click on one to view it, they can easily go back with a link also (instead of only the browser back button). Here is the problem, if the classified is entered directly into the adress bar of a browser, or if somebody bookmarked a classified, then this back-link would take them someplace else... Is there any way of making sure that the previous page is a certain page (index.php in my case)? This way I would only display the back link if the previous page was index.php... Thanks

    I have a php page which contains a form. Sometimes this page is submitted to itself (like when pics are uploaded). I wouldn't want users to have to fill in every field again and again, so I use this as a value of a text-input inside the form: value="<?php echo htmlentities(@$_POST['annonsera_headline'],ENT_COMPAT,'UTF-8');?>"> This works, except it adds a "\" sign before every double-quote... For instance writing 19" wheels gives after page is submitted to itself: 19\" wheels And if I don't even use htmlentities then everything after the quotes dissappears. What is the problem here?

    I realize there's the W3C validator, which works great for one page. There's also the perl install they provide, but it seems to not work on a Mac or it's buggy. Given that 1) I have an entire set of local files How do I a) Validate the entire set b) do it behind a firewall c) do it simply without installing anything on my computer? (i.e., is there a web service?) Or is this just futile?

I have a HUGE form in one of the pages, and when submitting the form (action=php_page) URL is so long it covers half a word document in one line with all the passing variables... This is very ugly...     I'd like to understand a little more clearly how css margins work with divs and child content. If I try this... <div style="clear: both; margin-top: 2em;"> <input type="submit" value="Save" /> </div> ...the Save button is right up against the User Role (margin fail): If I change it to this... <div style="clear: both;"> <input style="margin-top: 2em;" type="submit" value="Save" /> </div> ...there is a gap between the Save button and the User Role (margin win): Questions: Can someone explain what I'm observing? Why doesn't putting a margin on the div cause the input to move down? Why must I put the margin on the input itself? There must be some fundamental law of css I am not grasping.

    Hello im trying to get the hang of using bb codes onto my normal php site ( not forum or anything just a normal site ) I have seen a few posts like this one http://www.pixel2life.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10659-php-bbcode-parser/ which says i need a bb parser. I was just wondering can anyone show me how i would use one ? I have a status box were users can update there status but i would like to allow bb codes but not java script. So when im doing my inserting into the db i strip the status like so.. $status= mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['status']); $status2= strip_tags($status); And that stops the java script and tags from getting though but i need the bb code tags to come though but carry on blocking the java script code is there anyway to do this ? Also then i just echo it out echo $status2 ; But just plain text shows so was just wondering if anyone knows how to let though bb code and stop java script and could some one show me how to use the bb parasher ? also need to know how to echo out the bb coding...
