  • Accepting bank account information in a form

    What security concerns are there when accepting a user's bank account information (account number and routing number) via a form on a page that is using SSL, and posting it back to the server where I then curl off a HTTPS request to send that information to an ACH service like First ACH or ACH Direct via their API? We wouldn't be saving the bank account information in our database. I know another option is to use Paypal's Mass Pay API, but they think it's unprofessional (at least for their business) to require customers to have a paypal account to get paid. Thoughts?

  • PHP OOP Design Patterns: Should I Create two seperate classes for registration and form validation?

    So here's my problem: I have two types of registration, registration A and registration B, each will have some of the same fields and some different fields. I was going to create abstract class registration and both A and B would have their own classes that extend from registration. My question is, should I create a seperate Validation class with seperate A and B validation classes that extend? or is there a better pattern to use for something like this? Thanks

  • Is a "Confirm Email" input good practice when user changes email address?

    My organization has a form to allow users to update their email address with us. It's suggested that we have two input boxes for email: the second as an email confirmation. I always copy/paste my email address when faced with the confirmation. I'm assuming most of our users are not so savvy. Regardless, is this considered a good practice? I can't stand it personally, but I also realize it probably isn't meant for me. If someone screws up their email, they can't login, and they must call to sort things out.

  • How to insert multiple check-box values inside database when one or more will be left unchecked?

    I have a form that contains 5 check boxes. The user may select one or more of these check boxes. The user may select 2 and leave 3 unchecked or select 4 and leave one unchecked and so on, in that case how can I write the php/mysql code that will insert the form data into the database. With just one selection it's easy, I would do: $checkbox_value = $_POST['i_agree']; mysql_query("INSERT INTO terms (user, pass, conditions) VALUES ('$user','$pass','$checkbox_value')"); But how can I write this when there are multiple check box options and only one or more of them will be checked? I want to insert them all in one column called "tags" separated by commas.

    Hi, I have a teacher profile model which has many subjects (separate model). I want to add subjects to the profile on the same form for creating/editing a profile. I'm using accepts_nested_attributes for and this works fine for creation.   • Problem passing variables in php form.

    I have the following php form. I am trying to make it so that when the form is loaded, the values will be assigned the appropriate check- variable. This variable will contain either "checked or "". If it contains checked, the way it is displayed with the html should cause the relevant checkbox to be checked. As it is, the variables do not seem to be being passed. When I echo out $deleted or $notice from within the submitinfo branch, they are blank. Furthermore, nothing is being inserted into the database, and I am not getting any database error.     I am working on a Rails application which uses categories for items. My category model is self-joined so that categories can be nested: class Category < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :items # Self Join (categories can have subcategories) has_many :subcategories, :class_name => "Category", :foreign_key => "parent_id" belongs_to :parent, :class_name => "Category" ... end I have a form which allows a user to create an item which currently lists all categories in a select, but they are all listed together: <%= f.label :category_id %> <%= select :item, :category_id, Category.all.collect {|c| [ c.title, c.id ]} %> So the select looks something like this: Category1 Category2 Category3BelongsTo2 Category4BelongsTo1 But what I want is: Category1 - Category4BelongsTo1 Category2 - Category3BelongsTo2 Is there a helper for this (which would be awesome!)? After the user selects one of the options I need to find out what the selected value/label (will be the same) is so I can hit an update button and retrieve the data on that option. What would be the easiest way to find out the value of the user "selected" option?

    I'm trying to grade a quiz application I would like to make. I have a questions model with and ask(the actual question), 4 choices(a-d), and a correct answer(string). In the view I have the 4 question being diplayed then the correct answer choice (This is just a test for functionality) and then I created a text_field to accept the users answer choice and a button to refresh the index action which has the scoring logic, for now.. --Do I need to put the text_field within a form_tag? <p>1. <%= h @question.q1 %></p> <p>2. <%= h @question.q2 %></p> <p>3. <%= h @question.q3 %></p> <p>4. <%= h @question.q4 %></p> <p>Answer: <%= h @question.correct %></p> <%= text_field_tag :choice, params[:choice] %> <%= button_to "Grade", {:controller => 'site', :action => "index"} %> <p> <%= @answer %></p> Heres the index controller action def index @question = Question.find(1) if @question.correct == params[:choice] @answer = 'right' else @answer = 'wrong' end end Its not really working.   • Reverse geocode street name and city as text

    Hello, I have been having some trouble finding a good way to output just the street name and city as text (Infinite Loop, Cupertino shown here) that can be displayed in my iPhone app. This needs to be able to dynamically change as you change streets and city. I don't have the slightest idea of how to do this, I hope someone can help. I have attached a very rough image of what I am trying to acheave. I have found this (http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/javascript/services.html#Geocoding) for google maps about how to reverse geocode using javascript, but what I do not understand is how this would be done in a iPhone development setting. I work in web design and I see how it would be done in HTML but I am very new to iPhone development and don't have the slightest clue of how it would be done here. If someone could spell out how to do this I would be extremely grateful. I cannot seem to find what I am looking for by searching Google.   • replace values in form.data when form fails validation

    Hi I have a form field which requires a json object as its value when it is rendered. When the form is submitted it returns a comma seperated string of ids as its value (not a json string). however if the form does not validate i want to turn this string of ids back into a json string so it will display properly (is uses jquery to render the json object correctly). how would i do this? I was thinking of overwriting the form.clean method but when I tried to change self.data['fieldname'] I got the error 'This QueryDict instance is immutable' and when i tried to change self.cleaned_data['fieldname'] it didn't make a difference to the value of the field. I tried this: $("#form input").each(function() { var name = $(this).attr("id"); var value = $(this).attr("value"); $.extend(params, { name, value }); }); and then use $.load("script.php", params); But obviously it doesn't work. In params I have only one element "name". And I'm not sure I should use extend method too.

  • Multiple use of a form before it is submitted

    I'm new to JavaScript, and trying to figure out the canonical way to do the following. I have a form with some checkboxes and a selector. Let's say the checkboxes are styles of music and the selector is for people's names. I'd like the user to be able to select the styles of music for each of the people's names and then submit the form with all of the data. For example, the user might first check off Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Pop and choose "Joe", then select Jazz, Pop, Country, and Electronica and choose "Jane". So there would have to be two different buttons for "submit person" and "submit form". I would like to: Have a list of the names and their chosen styles populate below the form, for feedback Allow the user to use the form as much as they want, and then submit all the data at the end I get the feeling that using jquery and JSON is perfect for this, but I'm not sure what search terminology to use to figure out how to do this. If it matters, the form will be processed by a Django view in Python.

  • How can I make Access combo boxes unfurl on arrow key down?

    With combo box controls, I'm used to being able tab to them, click the down arrow key to open up the options, and then use the up and down arrow keys to navigate those options. In an Access form I've designed, pressing down while a combo box is active moves to the next control. I already have tab for that, so how can I get the down arrow to behave as I expect? These combo boxes are the only thing between me and a mouse-free form, which I consider essential for data entry. Thanks in advance for your help!
