  • jquery-autocomplete does not work with my django app.

    Hi everybody, I have a problem with the jquery-autocomplete pluging and my django script. I want an easy to use autocomplete plugin. And for what I see this (http://code.google.com/p/jquery-autocomplete/) one seems very usefull and easy. For the django part I use this (http://code.google.com/p/django-ajax-selects/) I modified it a little, because the out put looked a little bit weired to me. It had 2 '\n' for each new line, and there was no Content-Length Header in the response. First I thought this could be the problem, because all the online examples I found had them. But that was not the problem. If I just copy the line into my browser, I can see the the response. (this issue is solved, it was a safety feature from ajax not to get data from another domain) For example when I am typing Bi in the textfield, the url "http://gladis.org/ajax/tag?q=Bi&max... is generated. When you enter this in your browser you get this response: 4|Bier|Bier 43|Kolumbien|Kolumbien 33|Namibia|Namibia Now my ajax call get the correct response, but there is still no list showing up with all the possible entries. I tried also to format the output, but this doesn't work either. I set brakepoints to the function and realized that they won't be called at all.   • PPP connection between PalmOS and Ubuntu (over ttyUSB0?) without crashy "visor" kernel module

    I have a Palm Treo 680 which I'd like to use as a media remote, using Palm MPC. Almost the exact instructions on that page used to work perfectly for establishing a PPP connection over the USB cable; I think I last tried it in Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty). In Karmic, I find that /dev/ttyUSB{0,1} are not present by default, and when I modprobe visor to get them, the Palm immediately crashes and reboots, as seen in Ubuntu bug 522753 (it reboots again as long as the module is still loaded and USB is still connected). The usbserial module has the same result. From reading that bug and elsewhere, it appears that the visor module is abandoned, and jpilot and friends use some other approach to talk to PalmOS over USB these days, which might not even involve a ttyUSB device. My question is, therefore: How do I create a PPP connection between PalmOS and Karmic without crashing the Palm?

    Hi, I want to add SSL security in the Database layer. I am using Struts2.1.6, Spring 2.5, JBOSS 5.0 and Informix 11.5. Any idea how to do this?   • Updating a deallocated UIWebView from a background thread

    As you can see from the title, I've programmed myself into a corner and I've got several things working against me... In a UIViewController subclass that manages a large and complex view. One part of it is a UIWebView that contains output from a web request that I had to build and execute, and manually assemble HTML from. Since it takes a second or two to run, I dropped it into the background by calling self performSelectorInBackground:. Then from that method I call there, I use self performSelectorOnMainThread: to get back to the surface of the thread stack to update the UIWebView with what I just got. If this happens after I've already left this view, I get: 2010-06-07 16:38:08.508 EverWondr[180:760b] bool _WebTryThreadLock(bool), 0x1b6830: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... Despite what this says, I can repeatably cause this crash when I back out too early. I'm not at all convinced that attempting a UI update from a background thread is really the issue; I think it's that my UIWebView is deallocated. I suspect that the fact I was just IN a background thread makes the runtime suspect something's up about that, but I feel fairly sure that's not it. So how do I tell CLLocationManager not to worry about it, when I'm backing out of that view? I tried [self.locationManager stopUpdatingLocation] inside my viewWillDisappear method, but that didn't do it. (Incidentally, MapQuest's apis are FANTASTIC. Way WAY better than anything Google provides. I can't recommend them highly enough.)

  • Connecting my XBOX 360 to home network

    I am trying to set up my XBOX 360 as a Windows Media Center Extender. I input the code as shown on the XBOX screen, but I get the error message: "Cannot Set Up Extender." This means that the Extender was found (there's a separate error msg for extender not found), however it can't be set up. Windows points me to this page which tells me to change my router settings to enable multicast and UPnP. My router doesn't have those specific settings but I did open all ports for the XBOX. What is odd about this problem is that it did work, then I restarted my computer and didn't change any settings, and now it doesn't work. I guess something did change, but I can't figure out anything else to try after opening all ports. I'm running Windows 7 and the router is fairly recent (I bought it about six months ago) so it should be able to handle this. The router firmware is up to date.

  • Will new Acer Revo (with Atom 330) be fast enough to be MythTV client/server?

    As a geek I really like Atom CPUs but can't find a reason to buy one yet :( Although I was thinking about making my own DVR with NAS and media center functionality. Unfortunately, even today's Acer Revo, built on ION platform is not fast enough for streaming Full HD videos. So what do you think, will new two core CPU make it better, will it be able to show Full HD videos, store them to disk and transfer something over the network at the same time? Will it be able to scale videos from Hulu and YouTube to fullscreen?

  • Which app has a notification sound with 3 descending notes?

    Brand new Windows 7 box loaded with the usual dev tools -- VS2008, Firefox, Chatzilla, Thunderbird, emacs, Pidgin, Putty, iTunes, SharpReader. Every couple of minutes, I get an audio notification consisting of three rising notes, maybe a middle-C-G-F on a piano (I don't have a piano handy, and don't have time to use GarageBand to try to figure it out). Nothing in the notification bar is flashing when this happens. The sound isn't in any of the Windows Sound control panel applets. And it's not in C:\Windows\Media, so it's most likely coming from a non-Microsoft app. Any chance it's Pidgin when the status one of my contact's changes (which happens plenty frequently)? Oh, look at this --- Tools/Mute Sounds. Let's try that and see what happens... Is this familiar to anyone?

    I need to kill windows explorer's process (explorer.exe), for that it tried using System.Diagnostics.Process.Kill("Explorer.exe"); It works but the problem is that the explorer starts again, may be windows is doing that, anyway. When i kill explorer.exe with windows task manager, it doesn't come back, its stays killed I want to do whatever taskmanager is doing through my application.

  • How do I tar dot files but not dot directories

    The following tar command will exclude all dot files and dot directories. tar -cvzf /media/bjackfly/bkup/bkup.gz --exclude '.*' --one-file-system /home/bjackfly In my case I want the dot files to be backed up in the home directory (.vimrc, .bashrc) etc. but not the dot directories /.config /.cache /.eclipse etc. Any Linux gurus with a command for this, or do I need to run a find into a tar or do two different tar commands which is non-ideal? One for dot files in the home directory and one for everything else?

  • Make VLC play all of a sound clip?

    In VLC 1.0.5, sound files (mp3 and wav) are not playing completely. I think the leading .1 sec and trailing .5 second, more or less, are not playing. I remember this behavior from some years ago, but am not sure the app or how i fixed it. Seems like there was some setting that was causing it to clip the sounds, but can't find or remember it. The Zune Software and Windows Media Player work fine. Windows 7 Pro, if it matters. Any suggestions?

  • Unable to play bluray movies or see bluray discs

    I have a Optiarc BD ROM BC-5500S ATA Device and when I put bluray discs into the drive the computer doesn't read them. I hear the drive make 3 noises as if it's trying to read them. Nothing shows up in windows explorer. I am running windows 7 64bit. I can read DVDs and CDs just fine. Bluray seems to be the only problem. I have installed PowerDVD9, HP DVD Play and HP DVD Media Smart and nothing helps. My laptop is a hp dv7 1273cl. I bought it before the free upgrades to windows 7 were available so I wasn't able to get the upgrade and so HP won't assist me beyond telling me to format and reinstall Vista.

  • Mac Mini won't boot with USB Drive connected

    Newbie here. I have a 2012 MacMini with 2 x 3Tb Seagate GoFlex Desk external hard drives. Both drives have their own power supplies and work perfectly. I use both MacOS and Windows7 on the Mac for different reasons. Both boot and work fine. The only problem is neither MacOS or Windows will boot while the two USB drives are connected. I must disconnect the USB cables, boot and reconnect them. Then all works fine. Its rather annoying since this is mostly a Media Centre and you really don't want to be playing with cables every day, and I don't leave my stuff on over night. Can anyone help? Thanks Jens

  • Building a new PC, Installing XP, blue screen of death

    I got a gigabyte barebones kit and am installing windows-XP(SP1) and the initial setup works, then it restarts and goes into the second phase of the setup. Then when installing components (I think that's what it says) it gets half way done and comes up with a blue screen saying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. BUT! I had gotten past that by installing windows-XP media center addition Now I am trying to install the drivers for my Asus ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card and I get another blue screen of death that doesnt give much info something about address x0000005. Would you think there is something wrong with something in my system or do you think if I got windows 7 that would take care of things? Sorry for probably not giving enough info. I'm familiar already with loading EPUB-format titles through iBooks – unfortunately, iBooks doesn't read PDFs so I am looking at using a third-party application. I know many such third-party media viewer applications for the iPad support download from web or email, but that's a hassle. I've heard iTunes 9.1 added support for USB File Transfer, specifically for iPad devices. How does USB File Transfer work in iTunes, for transferring files from my PC to my iPad?   • Boot disc isnt loading on MY system

    I am trying to update the firmware on my harddisk. I grabbed seagates windows setup tool which didnt boot into the app to update the firmware so I burned their iso image. Their ISO also doesnt boot and i vaguely remember something about windows not recognize my disc because of an EFI thing. It probably has nothing to do with it. Anyways, how do I boot into the disc? I tried going into advance options to boot directly to the disc and i get a blank screen. I can use ctrl+alt+del which reboot the system but other then that its blank and doesnt seem to load anything on the disc. The disc was a 7mb iso burnt using windows 7 built in iso burner (it suggest using it on seagates site). I have no idea what to do. Do any of you guys know what my problem may be? The media is DVD-R

  • USB Audio device not selectable in settings after Camtasia Studio

    I tried to use Camtasia Studio 7 Recorder today, and when I selected the "Record Microphone and System audio" option, the recorder crashed, and then my sound settings icon disappeared. If I tried to open the Camtasia Recorder's Options or tried to select the option again, the program crashed. After holding the power button to force restart (so My settings wouldn't save, theoretically) the audio device was still not showing up in the sound settings, although it still is displayed under the "Hardware" tab, and is Functional. Or at least that's what windows thinks. I tried uninstalling Camtasia, and no sucess either. The USB audio device is labeled "C-Media USB Headphone Set". OS: Windows XP SP3 hu-HU Is there any way I could make it work again, like registry editing or something?

  • After installing Windows Phone 8 SDK, Connectify doesn't work

    Today I installed Windows Phone 8 SDK from the official site. After installing and a couple of restarts (it restarted the PC to enable Hyper-V), I opened Connectify. I use Connectify Hotspot to connect my iPod to the internet as I have an ethernet connection and no wireless router. The problem is that now, Connectify doesn't show WiFi in Share Over. The attached screenshot shows this. Previously, before I installed the SDK, it would show Ethernet and Wi-Fi. I would select WiFi and share my internet. Now, this is completely screwed. EDIT: I found out that the Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi Miniport Driver has got disabled and I am not able to enable it again. Please advise. Please advise on what to do Hardware: Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, Apple MacBook Pro 9,1 15 inch Mid-2012 (non retina)

  • How do I merge MP4 files without audio going out of sync?

    Is there a tool I can use that can merge MP4 files without throwing the audio out of sync? I generated some MP4 files from a DVD using AVIDemux but whatever tool I try to use always ends up throwing the audio out of sync with the video. The further you get into the video the further off-sync the audio is. By themselves the MP4/AAC videos have perfect audio-video sync. later tonight i might try http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ to examine the file before and after to see if anything changed in the media format.
