  • ASP.NET - What happens when a HttpCookie expiration has been crossed

    Hello, I am creating some cookies in my ASP.NET application. These cookies expire 10 minutes after they have been created. I follow the approach described on MSDN as shown here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.httpcookie.expires.aspx My question is, when a cookie "expires", what happens? Does the browser automatically delete the cookie? Is it our responsibility as developers to remove the cookies if they exist and have expired? Thank you,

  • K&R Exercise 1-21 - Mental incomprehension.

    The "impossible" K&R exercise. "Write a program entab that replaces strings of blanks by the minimum number of tabs and blanks to achieve the same spacing. Use the same tab stops, say every n columns. Should n be a variable or a symbolic parameter?" The problem I'm having is, I'm unsure about how to even do this correctly. I know it's not very explanatory, but that's pretty much the problem here. Most of the examples I've seen have counted a number of blanks, and replaced those series with a tab, but this isn't what its asking, I reckon I understand what its asking, but currently feel unable to do this. Could anyone help :)

    When I submit a form, I can see my browser's progress bar slowly increased, it takes 4-6s to submit a form. It was a generic form like : <form id="someid" name="someName" action="someAction.do"> ... </form> I test it in IE8 and Firefox 3,both are very slow. My network condition is fine, my server works great. What could be the problem?

    I am trying to workaround CORS restriction on a WebGL application. I have a Web Service which resolves URL and returns images. Since this web service is not CORS enabled, I can't use the returned images as textures. I was planning to: Write a PHP script to handle image requests Image requests would be sent through the query string as a url parameter The PHP Script will: Call the web service with the query string url Fetch the image response (web service returns a content-type:image response) Add the CORS header (Add Access-Control-Allow-Origin) to the response Send the response to the browser I tried to implement this using a variety of techniques including CURL, HTTPResponse, plain var_dump etc. but got stuck at some point in each. So I have 2 questions: Is the approach good enough? Considering the approach is good enough: I made the most progress with CURL. I could get the image header and data with: $ch = curl_init(); $url = $_GET["url"]; curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type:image/jpeg')); //Execute request $response = curl_exec($ch); //get the default response headers $headers = curl_getinfo($ch); //close connection curl_close($ch); But this doesn't actually change set the response content-type to image/jpeg. It dumps the header + response into a new response of content-type text/html and display the header and the image BLOB data in the browser. How do I get it to send the response in the format I want?     For a web application I switched from using ASP.NET Membership to using my own log in system which just does something like this to mark a user as logged in: Session["UserId"] = User.Id Is it possible to store the user id in the ASPXAUTH cookie, piggybacking on its encryption, instead of using the standard session? The goal is for the logged in state to last longer than a session and survive both browser and server restarts.

    In my opinion WWW will sooner or later come to full-blown AJAX web-sites, so that we wouldn't have page reloads every time you click somewhere. Now I want you to ask this. What tools and frameworks can one use to make a Java Web-application running on Tomcat have AJAX functionality like "in-place, with no page reloading" table sorting by clicking on its column header, multi-tabs that enable opening at once the new screen to the user without reloading a page, saving data in the database without reloading a page, and other similar things that we do not usually see on web pages. That's all should probably be based on AJAX. But how to integrate this AJAX functionality with existing java web-frameworks, let's say Spring MVC? Or maybe there are other frameworks that better suit such needs but that can be integrated with core Spring?

  • Exception when creating an activity: Could not select item Parcel unable to marshal value

    Hi, I am trying to call an Activity from another instance of the activity. The code is supposed to be a simple file browser (part of a larger application). I am using a ListActivity, and when an item (such as a folder) is selected, it is supposed to open it up in the new Activity. I have a feeling it is a problem with the AndroidManifest (which just has the basic tag). Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

    I follow this tutorial here to create RESTful web service on Netbean 6.8. However, when I right click on the project node and select Test RESTful Web Service, the browser pop up, and supposedly my project would be listed on the left, and supposedly I would be able to select it, and test against various function that listed on the right. However, I dont see any of that. Any idea why?

    I'm using simple code: import urllib2 response = urllib2.urlopen("http://www.mysite.com/getfile/4355") output = open('myfile.zip','wb') output.write(response.read()) output.close() The web-server is IIS + ASP.NET MVC 4 It returns FileResult wrapping a zip-file with "application/octet-stream" content-type. The problem is that downloaded zip file is broken - only 4.1kB size, where it must be 24kB. When I type the url adress in web-browser directly - it downloads and opens fine. Could you please, suggest, what's wrong with my Python code?

    hello, i want to add in my settings.py a declaration like: LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='^private_profile/(?P<id>\d+)/$' #or LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/id/' so that when the user with the id 1, for example,is logging in, he will be redirected to LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/1/' but both alternatives, LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='^private_profile/(?P<id>\d+)/$' #or LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL='/accounts/private_profile/id/' are wrong, because in my browser i don't see the current user id, where am i wrong?   • Set Pivot Items from Cell Range? Excel 2007

    I have developed code which identifies the multiple item selections from a Pivot field and writes the list of items to a table. I then wish to take this contents of the list and use it to populate a number of other Pivot Tables on other tabs. I currently have the ability to do this for single Pivot items selections, but I need to do this for multiple selections. If I select multiple items in the Pivot Table and attempt to pass these selections to the other Pivot Tables it creates an error because it sees only hte text "Multiple Items" instead of a list of each item that was checked in the upstream Pivot field. I need some VBA code that allows me to use the list to set another Pivot Field's selections. All the Pivot fields in question here are page fields. I am using Excel 2007. Any help is appreciated.
