• Can't install gimp-plugin-registry

  I tried to install the Ubuntu Studio Graphics meta-package, however it didn't install correctly.The package gimp-plugin-registry just won`t install, i tried the one in the Software center and the one on the WebUp8 PPA neither package works. The following NEW packages will be installed: gimp-plugin-registry 0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 0B/1395kB of archives. • NSUndoManager won't undo editing of a NSMutableDictionary

  Recently I was working with data from a generic List<T> and one of my objectives is to get the distinct values that is found in the List. Now what if we only want to get the distinct values for a certain field. For example I want to get the distinct “Make” values such as Samsung, Apple, HTC, Nokia and Sony Ericsson and populate them to a DropDownList control for filtering purposes. I was hoping the the Distinct operator has an overload that can compare values based on the property value like (GetProducts().Distinct(o => o.PropertyToCompare). But unfortunately it doesn’t provide that overload so what I did as a workaround is to use the GroupBy,Select and First LINQ query operators to achieve what I want. • Will moving to Facebook/Disqus Commenting lighten the load on my server any?

  I manage a site that gets about 50 million hits a month. It's a Wordpress site, load balanced over 6 servers, and has a varnish caching system setup. Right now, 95 - 97% of the time, page views hit the cache. The only time it serves up a new page from the server is when a new story is created, or someone is logged in looking at the stories and commenting. What I am trying to figure out is that if I move over to Facebook Comments or Disqus commenting, and get rid of the users entirely, will that lighten the load? I would think it would because the only time you would be hitting the server, and not the cache, is when you're logged in - which only the admins would be. I know it's only 2.5 - 3% but I wasn't 100% sure.

  Is there a way to get a list of the exposed functions from a Flash object? For example, you could get a list of all methods in an object by executing: for (var i in object) { if (typeof object[i] == "function") { console.log(i); } } The only issue is that this won't expose any methods registered through the ExternalInterfaces API. I can try and see if the function exists (object['method']) and it tells me it is a function, but I would have to guess every existing method in this manner.   I'm currently trying to set up an offline.manifest file for my web app to be used offline on an iOS device. For testing purposes I have a very simple HTML page that I'm trying to add to a home screen. I'm testing it on a live iPhone 4, but after the page is added to the home screen and I put the iPhone in the airplane mode and try to start my web app I get this error: "Turn Off Airplane Mode or Use Wi-Fi to Access Data" and then if I click OK I get: "Cannot Open Web App Name" "Web App Name could not be opened because it is not connected to the Internet" The following is added to the HTML file: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en" manifest="scrts/offline.manifest"> and the offline.manifest is composed as such: CACHE MANIFEST ../pics/bkgnd_iphn_settings.png ../pics/mbl_btn_fb.png ../pics/mbl_btn_twt.png ../pics/icon_57_57_bg.png ../pics/icon_72_72_bg.png ../pics/icon_114_114_bg.png ../pics/icon_144_144_bg.png ../pics/splash_320_460_bg.png ../pics/splash_768_1004_bg.png ../pics/splash_1004_768_bg.png I got all instructions on composing it from here I also adjusted the .htaccess file to add this line: AddType text/cache-manifest .manifest Any idea what am I not doing right?

  AFAIK JSR-303 is the standard bean validation system. I don't know whether it could do validations like this (I guess no): if an object has a deleted flag set, you cannot modify the object you cannot change the start date property, after the date is passed you cannot decrease some integer properties in the bean So how can I handle validations, which depend on the previous state of an object? I would like to solve problems like that in hibernate3.5 - spring3 - JPA2 environment. Thanks My solution was to mess with hibernate, reload the object to see the old state (after evicting the new object). This time I need some smarter solution...

• Programmaticaly change lightdm autologin session type

  I have problem with lightdm setting autologin session type (using my config tool). Lightdm logs into previously selected session. I see that autologin-session is UNIMPLEMENTED in version 1.2.1. Maybe I can somehow cheat lightdm? but it seems program writes actual state when stopping and overwrites my changes to /home/user/.dmrc and /var/cache/lightdm/user.dmrc. At the current I have two sessions: default and kiosk. in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf I have line: user-session=desktop but after I logged into kiosk session it starts all the time. Changing .dmrc and /var/cache/lightdm/dmrc/user.dmrc doesn't work.

  I'm creating a Ruby game using the Gosu framework. All good. Sometimes, when I run the game, it has some kind of slow startup, and probably it will be rather slow during the whole game. So I close it and... open it again. It is very likely that it will startup quickly and the whole game will run smoothly and fast. Why is that? What is this phenomenon? Is it faster because of some cache stored or whatever since the first run? (But why would cache be stored? If the app dies, I would expect no references at all etc...) Ruby, Windows 7.

I already tried purging every php* package, removing the cache files in /var/cache/aptbut and other solutions I've found but nothing seems to work. • How can I instruct nautilus to pre-generate thumbnails?

  I have a large library of PDF documents (papers, lectures, handouts) that I want to be able to quickly navigate through. For that I need thumbnails. At the same time however, I see that the ~/.thumbnails folder is piling up with thumbs I don't really need. Deleting thumbnail junk without removing the important thumbs is impossible. If I were to delete them, I'd have to go to each and every folder with important PDF documents and let the thumbnail cache regenerate. I would love to able to automate this process. Is there any way I can tell nautilus to pre-cache the thumbs for a set of given directories? Note: I did find a set of bash scripts that appear to do this for pictures and videos, but not for any other documents. Maybe someone more experienced with scripting might be able to adjust these for PDF documents or at least point me in the right direction on what I'd have to modify for this to work with PDF documents as well.

  Hi, i'm trying to put an activeX object on an asp-webpage. it already worked good a week ago, but now the object isn't showing up anymore. already made a little asp testing-project....just an asp-page and a activex control, containing a button and a label. but when i call up the page in the browser, there is only a white area with a little icon in the upper left corner, showing a red dot, a green triangle and a blue rectangle.... what does that mean? object not found? object blocked by IE? or what exactly does this icon stand for? i always thoght that an missing object is represented by an empty area with a little red cross in it. =/

• Mock a void method which change the input value

  Hi, How could I mock a void method with parameters and change the value parameters? My void method looks like this: public interface IFoo { void GetValue(int x, object y) // takes x and do something then access another class to get the value of y } I prepared a delegate class: private delegate void GetValueDelegate(int x, object y); private void GetValue(int x, object y) { // process x // prepare a new object obj if (y == null) y = new Object(); if (//some checks) y = obj; } I wrote something like this: Expect.Call(delegate {x.GetValue(5, null);}).Do (new GetValueDelegate(GetValue)).IgnoreArguments().Repeat.Any(); But seems like it's not working. Any clue on what could be wrong?
