• Problem in Addon Domain name binding with existing directory in my webspace

  I recently purchased a domain thinkzarahatke.com. At the time of purchasing i selected an option, say url redirect, to my existing site. Further I had entered Naming server detail. But I dint find any other option to change URL rewrite parameters under Domain Name Manager. From the cPanel of my hosting space, I had added new domain as addon and set a sundirectory for it. Now If I am trying to access my new domain directly, it is automatically redirecting to my old website. While if i access some inside directory, like thinkzarahatke.com/blog, then i am able to access to my new site. What wrong i done? Please tell me if i need to do some more settings with addon domain.

• Juju bootstrap fails with "Temporary failure in name resolution" using Amazon AWS

  I have followed the instructions over at https://juju.ubuntu.com/docs/config-aws.html to try and setup myself with a juju environment. It all seemed to setup alright. SSH keys, Gererate config, repository, adding access id and secret keys to environments.yaml file. Although my key file from aws IAM management console was called credentials.csv rather than rootkey, I couldn't find that link described in the documentation. When I give the command juju bootstrap in the testing page. It fails giving me the error: juju bootstrap ERROR Get https://s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/juju-gobblygookmynukmbersinhere/provider-state: lookup s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com: Temporary failure in name resolution (note I just replaced my numbers for this posting my actual terminal has my numbers in. This is my first attempt at any ec2 work so I have gone in and created new IAM profiles. What have I done wrong? Any help would be great. I think I'm in over my head!

• Spam link text when searching for company directors' name

  It was brought to my attention that if you search for the name of one of our directors (with the intent to find there profile page on our site) They come up as the first link in most search engines as you would expect but the link text is just pure spam. the three search string I have tested on Google, Bing, Ask, and Yahoo have all returned similar results. • How do you name your personal libraries?

  I'm pretty bad with naming things. The only name I can every generically come up with is 'helper'. Say, if I have a header file that contains helping functions for manipulating paths, I tend to put it inside my "helper" directory and call it "path-helper.hpp" or something like that. Obviouslly, that's a bad naming convention. :) I want to have a consistent naming scheme for my folder (and namespace) which I can use to always refer to my own headers and libraries, but I have trouble finding names that are easy to type or remember (like boost)... so I end up calling some of them "helper" or "stdext" or whatnot, which isn't a great idea. How do you find names for your libraries that are easy to remember and easy to type, and which aren't too generic (like "helper" or "std" or "stdext" or the like)? Any suggestions on how to go about doing this?

  I have a company website hosted at www.BRAND.com (where BRAND is a generic name). The company want to develop a "micro website" for one of their campaigns, named "Inspired By BRAND". I have two directions: inspired.by.BRAND.com - which I personally don't like too much. I don't know why but I don't recall any web address similar to this one subdomain.subdomain.domain.com. inspired.BRAND.com - which I this is best suited for it. Fewer dots and similar to "more friendly" addresses subdomain.domain.com. Any hints, guidelines, any thoughts is well appreciated. Thanks in advance

• Ubuntu One Preferences does not show usage, name, e-mail, current plan

  Ubuntuone is correctly synchronizing selected files between two computers running Ubuntu 10.10. When I open Ubuntuone Preferences, Account tab, on one computer it does not display the usage, name e-mail or current plan. On the other computer all information is shown correctly. On the Devices tab the 2 computers are not shown. They do show correctly on the other computer. Any ideas on how to fix this problem. I have reinstalled Ubuntuone per this link.

  In several of my programming courses in the University, my teachers always told me the following: A function and a procedure are basically the same thing: the only difference is that a function returns a value, and the procedure doesn't. That means that this: function sum($a, $b) { return $a + $b; } ... is a function, and this: function sum($a, $b) { echo $a + $b; } ... is a procedure. In the same train of thought, I've seen that a method is the equivalent of a function in the OOP world. That means that this: class Example { function sum($a, $b) { return $a + $b; } } Is a method — but how do you call this? class Example { function sum($a, $b) { echo $a + $b; } } What's the equivalent name, or how do you call a method that doesn't returns anything?

  I was just talking to my partner about how hard it is to personally judge how good your product is after a while because you use it so often. You literally spend hours on your computer doing nothing but work on this Consumer Facing application, and you start to feel a little fatigue of using it over and over and over, at least a hundred times a day. You get scared this fatigue may mean the product you are building may have the same effect on the users and might mean you are doing something wrong. All i'm asking is, is there a name for this in product development? For the fact that as a designer+ programmer+everything else, your product might not suck as much as you think simply because you spend way to much time with it, or a variation of this?

  Oracle Product Manager for Java ME SDK, Sungmoon Cho, presented a session, "Developing Java Mobile and Embedded Applications with Java ME SDK 3.2,” wherein he covered the basic new features of the Java ME Platform SDK 3.2, a state-of-the-art toolbox for developing mobile and embedded applications. The session began with a summary of the four main components of Java ME SDK. A device emulator allows developers to quickly run and test applications before commercialization. It supports CLDC/MIDP CLDC/IMP.NG and CLC/AGUI. A development environment assists writing, running debugging and deploying and enables on-device debugging. Samples provide developers with useful codes and frameworks. IDE Plugins – NetBeans and Eclipse – equip developers with CPU Profiler, Memory Monitor, Network Monitor, and Device Selector. This means that manual integration is no longer necessary. Cho then talked about the Java ME SDK’s on-device tooling architecture: * Java ME SDK provides an architecture ideal for on-device-debugging.* Device Manager plays the central role by managing different devices whether it is the emulator or a device that Oracle provides or recommends or a third party device as long as the devices have a Java Runtime that supports the protocol that is designated.* The Emulator provides an accurate emulation, since it uses the same code base used in Oracle’s Java ME runtime.* The Universal Emulator Interface (UEI) makes it easy for IDEs to detect the platform.He then focused on the Java ME SDK release highlights, which include: * Implementation and support for the new Oracle® Java Wireless Client 3.2 runtime and the Oracle® Java ME Embedded runtime. I simply require a little advice; A very large hosted e-commerce platform emailed me a while back and basically asked me to transfer my domain name to them. They made no offer but simply said 'why not change your domain to xx - xx instaead of xxxx' Not they own all the equivalent names in .com, .org all of them apart from my .co.uk I am a registered partner of theirs and my website is a portfolio of all my themes but I also get a lot of enquires through it. I had heard rumors this company is opening an office in the UK! I'm right in thinking I shouldn't just roll over right? I've put some much effort in to SEO and building my reputation... I can't just give it up surly?

  In some code I'm reviewing, I'm seeing stuff that's the moral equivalent of the following: public class Foo { private Bar bar; public MethodA() { bar = new Bar(); bar.A(); bar = null; } public MethodB() { bar = new Bar(); bar.B(); bar = null; } } The field bar here is logically a local variable, as its value is never intended to persist across method calls. However, since many of the methods in Foo need an object of type Bar, the original code author has just made a field of type Bar. This is obviously bad, right? Is there a name for this antipattern?

• Device Manager in read-only remote mode when local

  Hello - since configuring a Windows Web Server 2008 R2 x64 to be hardened for an internet-facing deployment I receive this: "Device Manager is running in read-only mode because you are running it on a remote computer." when entering Device Manager. I have tried reversing the changes I have made, such as: Re-adding Client for Microsoft Networks Re-enabling NetBIOS over TCP-IP Re-adding File and Printer Sharing Disabling the Windows Firewall in all profiles (public, domain, private) I get no joy. It looks like a Microsoft ballsup. I'll try and use Process Monitor to have a look. Google returns only 1 page for this error. Luke

  My application is for "iPhone ONLY", But I have made a mistake in the first place by not setting the application for specific device. • How to write an iphone application to control a device that exposes a telnet api

  Hi! I have to write an iphone application that controls a device. This device exposes a telnet based interface. The application should ideally have user access control and customizability for each user. I was thinking of writing C++ classes that would communicate with the device using sockets. This functionality can then be exposed through web-services that can be called by the iphone application. However as i looked into it deeper, the api allows you to register for events using telnet and then you can receive notification when those events occur. That kinda put a spanner in the works for me. I for one dont know a "push" scenario can work with webservices. First off i have never programmed for the iphone so far. So i am not really sure what can be done. So i was thinking if instead of having a webserver to go through, why not have the application independently running on the iphone, directly communicating with the device using sockets. The question though is, is that possible and second i am thinking it would raise a security aspect. First we could control security as everything was going through our central server. Is there a way to handle security (in the sense who has access to the device) without having a central server. I am sorry that this seems like an unorganized post, but iam trying to brainstorm here. Looking forward to hear your opinions.
