• How to get real-time status notification with Facebook SDK via listener

  I'm using Twitter4j and the Android Facebook SDK to fetch status messages. With Twitter4J I get real-time notifications whenever a new status has been added to the stream via StatusListener (Twitter4J). In the Facebook SDK I cannot find a similar way, I can only fetch entire streams over and over again in a fixed time interval using RequestListener (Facebook SDK) as far as I see it. Is there any way to get notified of new statuses in realtime with the Facebook SDK in a similar way as with Twitter4J?   I am trying to create Facebook based login using Javascript. Once a person clicks a button he should get a div replaced by another div, if he is logged in to Facebook. However, if he is not logged in to Facebook he is asked his Facebook credentials and he logs in. However, we need the user to click the button once more for the div replacement to happen in this case. I want to know if there is a way in which I can catch the Facebook login event and change the div? Is polling a way or there is some other way out. I want to use only Javascript.

• How many custom tabs can I add to a Facebook page?

  I'm building a web application to create custom tabs and add them to the user's Facebook fanpages. I know how the process of "installing" FB apps into FB pages so they show up as Page Tabs works, but the problem is the client wants to allow the user to create unlimited Page Tabs for a single FB Page. So I have basically two questions. 1 - Can I resue a single FB App to be included into the same page several times? If so, is there a way to know what is the "id" of that Page Tab? So, if I have my FB App to look for the Tab content in http://www.mywebapp.com/tab/, I know I get a signed_request with the App ID and the Page ID, but if that same App is installed several times into the same Page, I don't know what's the Tab the user have cliked on. I know it's a little big messy, and I don't think there's a way to do this. So my next question is probably more accurate. 2 - Is there a limit on how many Tabs can I add to a single Facebook page? This way, if there's a limit of, say, 12 Tabs, I can create 12 FB Tab Apps, store the ID's and then I know which Tab of which Page the user is currently viewing. Thanks in advice! Maxi

• facebook meta tag description not updating

  3 days ago I updated description within the meta tag of facebook, but change does not reflect when sharing link on facebook. Instead old description still appears. According to Facebook, it scrapes your page every 24 hours to ensure the description (and other share data) are up to date. However, one can manually refresh it by entering the post URL into the Facebook URL Linter I did manually refresh it as well as now waited for 3 days. When i see debugging output from linter, it shows the correct up-to-date description, but old description still shown when sharing a link. How to reproduce: This is our website: https://www.tradeinsports.se/#tis1 (It's in swedish so bear with me please). If you go to above link and click on any of the two available products, and then share on facebook, you can see the difference in description from the one which appears in linter debugging output. Any help would be appreciated.

• Launching a Facebook page from an iPhone app via QR code

  I'm trying to create a QR code that launches a Facebook page from the app, rather than the browser on both Android and iOS. Creating the code with fb://page/<page id>, works perfectly on an Android. This was also supposed to work with iOS's Facebook app, but I think since Facebook updated their app recently from a HTML5 version to a fully native iOS app, that functionality has stopped working. It indeed opens the Facebook app, but it does not go to the page. Has anyone else seen this happen since the app was updated a few weeks ago? And what string would I have to use to create a working QR Code for iOS's Facebook app?

• Adding my podcast to my Facebook fan page

  I've set up a Facebook fan page for my podcast, Otaku no Podcast. I'd love to add a Flash based player to the fan page that can play the latest episode of my podcast. Or, at the very least, a link to the latest episode on my website (which has its own Flash-based audio player). My podcast's website of course exports a valid RSS feed. I've tried several different podcast player/RSS feed display applications including Podcast Pickle (which has a facebook app), but none of them appear to work and/or are maintained any more. Podcast Pickle used to work for me a long time ago, but is no longer working for me. Any ideas?

  I can't login to Facebook because they think someone tried to hack my account. To verify it's really me they present me with photos that my friends have been tagged in and ask me to give them the correct names of who is tagged in the photos. Now because alot of my friends think it's funny to tag themselves in random photos of others, or tag themselves as objects in photos, I can't successfully get all 10 correct. I also have alot of friends of friends that have added me that I don't know closely enough to identify the back of their head in a distant blurry photo. Facebook only allows one attempt per hour to try this. How am I supposed to restore my account when they have such a stupid method to prove identity?

• My facebook blocking ACL has stopped working

  This probably very simple. This was setup before I arrived, and has been working to block facebook. I recently eliminated some static port forwarding on this 2691 (as in, I don't think anything else has changed), and now facebook is once again accessible. Why is this list not doing what it seems like it should be doing (and was doing)? Would an extended outbound ACL be more appropriate (I think that would have been my thought if I had been tasked with creating this in the first place)? Something different? • Use Adblock to allow most ads on a site

  I leave Adblock turned on for all sites by default. I allow ads on some sites. You can do this by adding an exception for a site that is allowed to show ads. This puts a site in the white list. However, I do not know how to allow most ads on a page, but block a specific ad. I am not even sure Adblock will do this. I believe it is all or none. If a site is in the white list, it appears that all other rules are ignored. Is there a way to allow most ads on a website, but still block specific ads?

• Facebook unresponsive in Chrome, pepper flash disabled

  Facebook becomes unresponsive after a second or two when I open Chrome. This problem happens every few weeks or so, and it's incredibly annoying. I've disabled Chrome's internal pepper flash: http://imgur.com/8hlqvaX I've also tried disabling all extensions, and even tried it in incognito mode. Facebook works just fine in Firefox, but it's totally unusable in Chrome. The problem goes away eventually, but it returns every now and then and it's super annoying.   my question is kind of weird, because i want thousands of fans to dislike my page! Since this is not a common problem I hardly can find anything about it! my facebook page just got spammed with thousands of "fans" from a specific country. When I set a coountry restriction for that country, will the fans be banned and the number of fans be the same as before the spam-attack? I really need to get rid of those fans. I already restricted that country and facebook actually updated the chart where I can see where my fans are coming from. So fb knows that I have those "fans", but the number of likes remains the same... Any idea? It is not possible to ban every fan 1 by 1 because I can only see the last 100 fans.

  On stream.get, I try to echo $feeds["posts"][$i]["attachment"]["href"]; It return the URL, but, in the same array scope where "type" is located (which returns string: video, etc), trying $feeds["posts"][$i]["attachment"]["type"] returns nothing at all! Here's an array through PHP's var_dump: http://pastie.org/930475 So, from testing I suppose this is protected by Facebook? Does that makes sense at all? Here it's full: http://pastie.org/930490, but not all attachment/media/types has values. It's also strange, because I can't access through [attachment][media][href] or [attachment][media][type], and if I try [attachment][media][0][type] or href, it gives me a string offset error. Facebook Applications usually need to be approved before they can be loaded. But this is too much work to be done within StaticFBML I guess. • Virtualization of Legacy API and co-existence with more modern API?

  I don't mean for this question to be a flame bait but I'll be using Microsoft and their win32 API as a example of a legacy API. Now what I am wondering here is Microsoft is spending a lots of their money and energy in maintaining their legacy API, including all of the "glitches/bugs/workaround" that are needed to keep the API functioning the same. Now I'm aware that in Windows 7 they are providing a way for the customer to run their application in a "Windows XP" VM which would be one such way for them to start cleaning up their win32 API because they could then push all of the application into the "Windows XP" VM. So now what I am wondering is, is it possible to virtualization a legacy API in such way that an customer/program can still access and use it, yet at the same time be able to take advantage of the newer version/API? Because as far as I understand it, if the application is ran in the "Windows XP" VM, it won't be able to access any of the newer API/feature of Windows 7.

On recent update of Google AdSense, a new module called Scorecard displayed on my dashboard. In item Revenue optimization Text and image ads enabled , it is marked as Yellow. But I have already enabled Text and Image ads in all my sites. Why does it still having Yellow instead of Green? Is it a bug of Google AdSense Scorecard ?

• AdSense Custom Search Ads - custom quesry

  i'm trying to set up a custom search ad, but I am nost sure about the query. On the site it says (https://developers.google.com/custom-search-ads/docs/implementation-guide) 'query' should be dynamic based on your page. This variable targets the ads and therefore should always match what the user on your site has just performed a search for. Now, what I understand is: I have to program my page so that the query variable contains some custom words. Am I right? If a user gets to my site through clicking on an adsense, there is no way to "know" what the user looked for and display my query accordingly, right? Thanks for any help!

• Possible automated Bing Ads fraud?

  I run a website that generates life insurance leads. The site is very simple a) there is a form for capturing the user's details, life insurance requirements etc b) A quote comparison feature We drive traffic to our site using conventional Google Adwords and Bing Ads campaigns. Since the 6th January we have received 30-40 dodgy leads which have the following in common: All created between 2 and 8 AM Phone number always in the format "123 1234 1234' Name, Date Of Birth, Policy details, Address all seem valid and are unique across the leads Email addresses from "disposable" email accounts including dodgit.com, mailinator.com, trashymail.com, pookmail.com Some leads come from the customer form, some via the quote comparison feature All come from different IP addresses We get the keyword information passed through from the URLs All look to be coming from Bing Ads All come from Internet Explorer v7 and v8 The consistency of the data and the random IP addresses seem to suggest an automated approach but I'm not sure of the intent. We can handle identifying these leads within our database but is there anyway of stopping this at the Ad level i.e. before the click through.
