  • Flex/Actionscript image display problem.

    I'm trying to extend the Image class but hit a problem that I can't get past. I have a private image (img) that loads an image and a function that takes that image and copies it onto the parent. The debug function "copyit2" displays the image fine (so I know it's loaded OK). But the function "copyit" doesn't work - it just displays a white rectangle. I can't see how to make copyit work so that the original image is copied to the BitmapData and then subsequenty copied onto the parent? (The idea is to do some processing on the Bitmap data before it is displayed, although this isn't shown here to keep the example simple.) I suspect it is something to do with the security of loading images, but I'm loading it from the same server as the application is run from - so this shouldn't be a problem?   • Flex 4 Button state in a HGroup

    Hi all, I have a HGroup with some buttons inside which is my application's menu. <s:HGroup id="nav"> <s:Button id="homeButton" label="Home" /> <s:Button id="showroomButton" label="Showroom" /> <s:Button label="Catalogue" /> <s:Button label="Offers" /> <s:Button label="My Account" /> <s:Button label="My Orders" /> </s:HGroup> What I want is when I click for example the #homeButton to change it's state to "over", become disabled and reset all other buttons to the "up" state. I've written this function private function resetNavState():void { for(var i:int = 0,ii:int = nav.numChildren-1;i<ii;i++) { Button(nav.getChildAt(i)).mouseEnabled = true; Button(nav.getChildAt(i)).skin.setCurrentState("up",true); } } And then on the homeButton click handler for example i use protected function homeButton_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { resetNavState(); currentState = "home"; homeButton.skin.setCurrentState("over",true); homeButton.mouseEnabled = false; } I resets the states of the #nav buttons but it doesn't change the state of the pressed button.   • Flex chart zooms out on series visibility change

    I have a chart that the user is able to zoom into an area by setting the min and max of LinearAxis for the vertical and horizontal axis. When you are zoomed in and you want to view or hide one of the series the chart zooms out to the max and then back in. How do I get the chart to not zoom out when setting the visibility of the series?

    Hi, I wonder is anyone can look at this code and tell me why calling the removeSelectedChild works when called from the same document, but returns the following error when called from the child document/component. Sorry that the example is a little contrived, this problem arose in a quite complicated view, which was using all kinds of custom components. This was the only way I could display it in a way that will be quick for you to compile and easy to focus on the real issue without background noise.   • Determining a Flex event's default behavior

    How can I tell what the default behavior for a cancelable event is? For example, I read somewhere that the TextEvent.TEXT_INPUT has a default behavior and that default behavior includes adding a text character associated with the key that was pressed to a TextInput. That makes perfect sense. But if I hadn't read that, how would I know what the default behavior is? Other than guessing. In this case, it's probably obvious. But in other situations, it might not be. For example, in the docs, look at DataGridEvent.HEADER_RELEASE's cancelable property. It says: cancelable: true so, there appears to be a "default behavior" associated with a DataGridEvent.HEADER_RELEASE event. But what is it? And why would I cancel it if I'm not really sure what it is? :) thanks.

  • interactive (adding listeners to) DAE model in flex + papervision

    I have a DAE model that is parsed into several parts. I am able to deal with them separately, such as changing their material or colour but I am having problems adding click or hover listeners over the children. For example, lets say I have a model of a kitty where each facial feature is a child. I want to be able to hover or click the features and have a window pop up explaining the feature. I've tried parsing the model and adding listeners but it doesn't seem to work. Thanks in advance! L

    Hi, I've got 2 files, my Application and a custom component. In my component I have a httpservice and a string named _requestUrl that is bindable. The httpservice uses this. <mx:HTTPService id="srv" url="{_requestUrl}" result="parseHttpResult(event)" resultFormat="xml" method="GET" useProxy="false"> </mx:HTTPService> In my application file I make an instance of my component in the onCreationComplete function. In this function if I say mycomponent._urlRequest ="http://mysite.com" the httpservice throws a null url error but if I say mycomponent.srv.url="http://mysite.com" it works fine. Why is this?

  • Flex Problem Enabling and Disabling Button in List

    I have a list with a dataprovider, it lists out buttons encapsulated in an item renderer. All I want it to do is have a skin that it changes to when it is clicked. I can get this to happen, but then it just goes back to its up state. I want it to stick on the down state, which I have to do by disabling the button. So I tried this: buttonList.selectedItem.enabled = false; for(var i:Number = 0; i< buttonList.numChildren; i++) { var loopBtn = buttonList.getChildAt(i); if(loopBtn != buttonList.selectedItem) { loopBtn.enabled = true; } } But this doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong here?

  • flex data provider not working if XML has single node value or less

    hello, i get this error when i retrieve an XML that only has 1 node (no repeating nodes) and i try to store in an ArrayCollection. -When I have MORE than 1 "name" nodes...i do NOT get an error. My test show that XMLListCollection does NOT work either. TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "XXXXXX" to mx.collections.ArrayCollection. this error occurs as the line of code: myList= e.result.list.name; Why can't ArrayCollection work with a single node? I'm using this ArrayCollection as a dataprovider for a Component -is there an alternative I can use that will take BOTH single and repeating nodes as well as work as a dataprovider?   • [Flex] Caching canvas into ByteArray

    Task: (all in code, not visual) create a canvas, place into it some labels and draw some lines, then cache it as byteArray. The problem is that if I cache an object that is already drawed on the screen, it works great, but if I cache a canvas, that have been created few lines earlier, this results white image. Is there any solution to cache a display object, that was created in code, but not intended to be displayed at all?

I currently am able to create the Datagrid and populate its column headers but I am unsure as to how to how to add the rows for each column. The above XML will be update with new row and column elements added and deleted. This, of course, will be bound to the Datagrid to show updates. Thanks in advanced for your help.

    I have a CustomTextInput component based on TextInput (Spark) component. The instance of this class is placed on a popup window (TitleWindow). How can I capture the popup move (dragging the title) event inside CustomTextInput implementation? MoveEvent.MOVE event of the CustomTextInput itself doesn't work. Of course, I can't access the parent popup window inside the component implementation, because it's a common component that can be used not only on the popup windows.

    hi, I made a swf that interacts with other site on the internet (which has a crossdomainfile for me). in the main.mxml there is a definition of webservice (mx:WebService)(which is not in my domain). Therefore when loading the swf, there is a first call to crossdomainfile.xml. I put this swf on my server so that my clients can get it. When i connect to my server to download the swf, i expect to be asked if i want to allow the swf connect to foreign webservice domain. But i am not being asked. Do i always need to define exception in Global Security Settings panel? I don't want my client do define special things.. Is there a best practice for that? Why when i surfing the net other swf can do this? I read about the FlashPlayerTrust, can i define there a website i trust my swf will connect to? anyone knows?

  • Storing Instances of Classes in Flex Shared Objects

    Is it possible to store instances of a class in a cookie or in shared objects. Basically in my application I have an object "Diagram" that the user can create. If they hit save, I want to store the current instance as a cookie and allows them to reload it later. Alternatively, I could see about getting them to store the saved version on the hard disk. But even then, all I want to save and retreive is my actionscript object. Is this possible? I've tried storing the object to SharedObject.data.diag, but when I try to retrieve the object from the cookie doing SharedObject.data.diag as Diag returns null.
