• Help with proposed iSCSI SAN VMware implementation.

  We have four (with plans to grow to four more) Dell servers with 6 NICs. They are running VMware ESXi 4.1. We would like to connect all of them to an Openfiler iSCSI SAN via HP ProCurve 1810G switches. Based on the design below, is there anything I should be concerned about or anything unusual that I should look out for when making the iSCSI network configurations on the servers, switches and OpenFiler? Should I bond the connections on the servers or simply setup them up for failover? The primary goal is to maximize IOPS. Thanks in advance.

• SVN help:: svn: invalid option: --trust-server-cert

  Hi, I want to bypass certificate checking. I tried using svn --trust-server-cert update, but I get an error, svn: invalid option: --trust-server-cert. I am on ubuntu and the svn version is 1.5.4. Is there any other way to bypass the certificate? Ubuntu won't automatically update my svn to 1.6.xx, which I think has this option. (In any case, I have heard that 1.6.xx has compatibility problems with some apache modules so is not fully safe to install?). Anyone with a suggestion? Thanks JP

• USB Flash drive corrupt files - Help needed

  I have a 16gb usb flash drive with 8gb worth of data that I can't afford to lose. When I inserted it into my pc, inside the folder that I was storing the data I saw unintelligible characters and nothing in there would open. I ran, windows scandisk and the files (unfortunately) disappeared. I can see that the drive's space still appears to be taken up with data, about 8gb. What should I do to recover it? Is it possible? I need the following rules to apply: Must catch all URLs that do not end with an extension (www.foo.com -- catch | www.foo.com/catch-me -- catch | www.foo.com/dont-catch.me -- don't catch). Must catch all URLs that end with .php* (.php, .php4...) (thwaw are the exceptions to rule #1). All rules must only apply in some directories and not in their subdirectories (/ and /framework so far). The htaccess must send the typed URL in a GET value so I can work with it in PHP. Any mod-rewrite wizard can help me?

  sir, i have created a web application in eclipse,db2 database server is running on my pc.so i can access the web application through the address http://localhost:8080/LimsWeb i used team viewer software to establish a remote desktop connection. can my friend somehow connect to my pc so that when he types the above url in his browser he will be able to fetch the pages of the application. i was able to do this by connecting with remote desktop mode.but in that case my friend was able to use the application which i created running on my pc only and in the window provided by team viewer.i want that he can run the application on his own computer calling the given url from his own browser. please help

• Help with putting Ubuntu on an old laptop

  Hi I dusted off an old laptop from 2004 which has Windows XP. I want to put Ubuntu on it. So, I downloaded the CD image and then burnt it to a disc. I tried starting the laptop and booting from CD but no luck. The CD drive doesn't work in the laptop anymore! So I shared the files on the local server and then accessed the wubi.exe file from within Windows XP, and it proceeded to download something else and install. It then asked me to restart, which I did. I now have a folder C:\ubuntu with a bunch of files in it. How do I get the option to boot to Ubuntu? Sorry, I have never installed a Linux variant before! The items can be picked during the day or week, therefore changing the amount of items on hand. I know I need to use the group by, sort, count and perhaps sumif formulas to have a running count of the number of items on hand at the end of each day (which could be positive or negative). • Need Help Debugging BSOD

  For the last few days I've been getting a BSOD at least once a day. Apparently the crash has been caused by ntkrpamp.exe and searching on google has revealed that the issue seems to be related to bad RAM. I have run memtest and my RAM modules have no errors on them. I'm pretty sure the issue is related to drivers, but I can't figure out which one. I'm not an expert in interpreting the output of windbg so any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Here is my analysis with WinDbg. It was too long to paste it here. One strange thing i noticed is that my Windows XP is in Spanish (SP3) and ntkrpamp.exe copyright info seems to be in portuguese. Not sure if that could be an issue, perhaps i have the wrong ntkrpamp.exe... Thanks a lot in advance

Whats happening: After dig, answer section empty, the query is trying to access a.root server instead of 192.168.0.197 ,even though i have defined 192.168.0.197 as dns in gateway1's resolv.conf Why? I need this working asap, can anyone here help ?

• Help with OpenVPN setup on Windows Server 2003

  Hi all, Just wondering if someone can assist me further with the set-up of OpenVPN on my Windows Server 2003. I have configured Win Server as per the following guide: http://tinyurl.com/kxusv and I'm now at the stage of Creating the config files. I have a few questions that I need some assistance with. My server IP is 192.168.1.10 and my routers IP address is 192.168.1.1 (the router is a Netgear DGN2000). I have edited the server.ovpn file as per the following: push "dhcp-option DNS X.X.X.X" # Replace the Xs with the IP address of the DNS for your home network (usually your ISP's DNS) push "dhcp-option DNS X.X.X.X" # A second DNS server if you have one to include my ISP DNS and I have not edited anything else. Now my issue is with the client1.opvpn file as per the below: client dev tap #dev-node MyTAP #If you renamed your TAP interface or have more than one TAP interface then remove the # at the beginning and change "MyTAP" to its name proto udp remote YOURHOST.dyndns.org 1194 #You will need to enter you dyndns account or static IP address here. The number following it is the port you set in the server's config route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 vpn_gateway 3 #This it the IP address scheme and subnet of your normal network your server is on. The final part that I'm stuggling with is Configuring the router. Basically I have a Netgear DGN2000 and as it mentions that the router should be configured to port forward port 1194 to the server’s IP address of 192.168.1.150 all I have been able to do is in 'Firewall Rules' and on 'Inbound Services', set the Service to 'Any(ALL) and Send to LAN Server point to 1923.168.1.150. I'm not sure if this is correct? It is the following stage of the help guide that I'm struggling with and really need some help with: You need to make sure the port you configured OpenVPN to listen on is forwarded on the router to the IP address of your server. On the WRT54G, port forwarding is configured in the “Applications & Gaming” section. Enter 1194 for the port, UDP for the protocol, and 192.168.1.150 for the IP address. Make sure the entry is enabled and then save the setting. Next, you need to add an entry to the router’s Routing Table. This will enable the router to properly route requests from the clients to the TAP interface of the server. On the WRT54G you would go to the “Setup” page and then the “Advanced Routing” section. Enter the follwing info to make the entry: Enter Route Name: openVPN Destination LAN IP: 192.168.10.0 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.150 Interface: LAN & Wireless Once the info has been typed in make sure you save the setting. Can anyone possibly guide me through setting this part up with my Netgear router. I see that once I have these 2 parts complete I'm there so I would really appreciate someone walking me through what is required in completing this. Much appreciated.

• Please help to troubleshoot the issue with Inspiron 8600 laptop

  Hello! I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop which display stopped working all of the sudden. It started to show a purple fog pattern along with some color vertical lines. I talked to Dell support and they told me that is a screen gone bad and I should get a new one which I did. But surprisingly the new display won't work either! The pattern on the screen is different but still no picture. So I tried to connect the old display to another laptop (Lenovo Z61) and it turns out it works just fine with it! So please help me to identify the cause of the issue. I think it could be a video card but the external display works flawlessly. I appreciate your thoughts about it so I won't need to buy spares which I don't need. Thank you! P.S. Please do not suggest to contact Dell support again.

  Need to clone and restore existing 64GB HDD onto a 256GB HDD, can't manage to gain access to the internals of this laptop. I checked with Samsung, they do not make manuals available nor will they help over the phone as to how to remove the bottom cover of this Samsung NP900X1A Laptop. They did offer to sell me a manual BUT they are out of stock for another 10-15 days. I saw the screws under the 4 rubber feet and 4 rubber grommets, all removed but the cover is still on.   Hi all, I Have a macro containing a line that will change the formula of a cell using R1C1 formula type. The formula is: ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = _ "=IF(R[0]C[-2]=0,"",(R[0]C[-20]-R[0]C[-16]))" When ever I attempt to run the macro it always comes up with a dialog box saying Run-time error '1004': Application-defined or object-defined error. And when you click debug it highlights those 2 lines in the macro. And I can't figure out how to fix it. Can anyone help?

  I have confused myself following a VLSM tutorial and need to get my understanding confirmed, would this be the correct format, or am i away off again 172.31.0.0 VLSM this network address for as many subnetworks as possible, with no more than 14 hosts in each subnetwork. Show the subnet mask used. As the ip address is class b and contains 16 bits in the network portion, this means that we can have 2^16 = 65536 possible networks, to give each of these networks a maximum of 14 hosts we would use the subnet prefix \28 for each subnet.   I've upgrade from IE6 to 7 to 8 and back down and back up, but still have critical issues in IE such as * cannot see any version info in "about internet explorer" * cannot run windows update * cannot load SharePoint pages (and other pages using ActiveX or IE-specific dhtml) I've also re-installed sp3, but still no luck. Also, also - I've changed security settings to be most permissive. Next step is blowing it all away and starting with windows7. Short of that, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

• Help updating cron entry using regular expressions

  hi I am trying to update a cron entry NOT by using crontab -e but by shell commands. For example the cron entry is like this: 10 * * * * /home/localuser/foo.sh -b 1 -h 4 > foo_output.sh 2>&1 No i need edit the command line parameters part ONLY i.e -b 1 -h 4 to something else which will be coming in from the user. First thing would be to write the crontab to a tmp file and then manipulate that temp file. Now, is there an easy way to edit that line using SED or something? The crude way wud be to delete that entire line, write a new line with the entire expression and then load that into the cron. I am not very good with regular expressions. My system supports sed -i so was thinking this could be done in a single line command. Thanks in advance

  Intel® Core™ i7-640M (2.8~3.46GHz, 35W) w/4MB Cache - 2 Cores, 4 Threads - 2.5 GT/s SO i'm buying a new laptop, which i have not done in 6 years. So i am not familiar with any of these cpu specs. It was the highest option for intel for this laptop. So i am assuming it is somewhat fast. But i'd like to learn what these specs mean. • mysqld stopped working..can't restart...need help?

  i was just checking somethings and noticed mysqld is not running in parallels power panel control panel...but my websites on the server were all working fine, which use mysql databases...so really strange So i tried to restart mysqld but got errors and can't restart and now all my websites are all offline now saying error connecting to database. logged in as root and tried /etc/init.d/mysqld start and got this error ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file What do i do next? What do i do? Please help!
