• replace values in form.data when form fails validation

  Hi I have a form field which requires a json object as its value when it is rendered. When the form is submitted it returns a comma seperated string of ids as its value (not a json string). however if the form does not validate i want to turn this string of ids back into a json string so it will display properly (is uses jquery to render the json object correctly). how would i do this? I was thinking of overwriting the form.clean method but when I tried to change self.data['fieldname'] I got the error 'This QueryDict instance is immutable' and when i tried to change self.cleaned_data['fieldname'] it didn't make a difference to the value of the field. • TCP Server to push data to a Web Browser

  Hi, I have a TCP server, which is connected to a web page via a Web browser. It is easy to send a request to the TCP server by the web page via the Web Browser, but is there a way that TCP server can push data to the web browser, without waiting for a request from browser side?? My initial idea was that this is impossible, since a browser is stateless. But I was told there are ways to do that... Any ideas? Thank You!!

• Where should I store user config data? Specificaly the path to the data file?

  I have an app using a SQLite db, and I need the ability for the user to move the data file and point the app to where it moved to. I used the Entity Framework to create the model, and by default it puts the connection string in the App.Config file. From what I've read if I make changes to the connection string there then they won't take effect until the app is restarted. That seems a bit clunky for my use. I see how I can init my model and pass in a custom string but I'm unsure what the best practice is in where to store basic user prefrences such as this? Ini, Registry, somewhere else? I don't want the user to have to "Open" the file each time, just when it relocates and then the app will try to auto open from then on.

  Hi guys, I've built a web application which basically logs work that has been done upon projects plus maintain resources used etc. What I need now is to set it up so that projects can be billed. Billed such that - each task that has been undertaken in a project is regarded as a billable service. Instead of building my own invoicing system and accounts management system I was wondering if there was any standard data format i.e in xml DTD or so to which I could set up the information so it could be imported by a third party accounting system for billing - or if not then what is the best way to accomplish this. I need to integrate invoicing capabilities somehow - better if its third party as I don't wish to have to go through building an entire accounting system.

Say there is a possibility that the list can contain a loop - i.e. the final Node, instead of having a null, has a reference to one of the nodes in the list which came before it. What's the best way of writing boolean hasLoop(Node first) which would return true if the given Node is the first of a list with a loop, and false otherwise? How could you write so that it takes a constant amount of space and a reasonable amount of time?   Hello, I'm doing a university project, that must gather and combine data on a user provided topic. The problem I've encountered is that Google search results for many terms are polluted with low quality autogenerated pages and if I use them, I can end up with wrong facts. How is it possible to estimate the quality/trustworthiness of a page? You may think "nah, Google engineers are working on the problem for 10 years and he's asking for a solution", but if you think about it, SE must provide up-to-date content and if it marks a good page as a bad one, users will be dissatisfied. I don't have such limitations, so if the algorithm accidentally marks as bad some good pages, that wouldn't be a problem.

  I have a query as follows: SELECT 1 FROM shop_inventory a JOIN shop_items b ON b.id=a.iid AND b.szbid=3362169 AND b.cid=a.cid WHERE a.cid=1 GROUP BY a.bought The only thing I need to do with this data is work out the number of rows returned (which I could do with mysqli -> num_rows;. However, I would like to know if there is a method to return the number of rows that match the query, without having to run num_rows? For example, the query should return one row, with one result, number_of_rows. I hope this makes sense!

  I would like to know the method of using RegisterForEventValidation in asp.net My problem is this. If I enable eventvalidation, then changing the controls using javascript and then posting the information back to the server later on throws up an error. But If I disable event validation, the data present/selected in the controls is not available in the event handlers in code behind. So, how should one resolve such issues? Also, are there are any good articles that explain the issue and a resolution in detail? Tried googling. Came across many articles. But nothing that matched my expectations. Thanks!

  Can someone give me a list, or point me to where I can find a list of C# data types that can be a nullable type? For example: I know that Nullable<int> is ok I know that Nullable<byte[]> is not. I'd like to know which types are nullable and which are not. BTW, I know I can test for this at runtime. However, this is for a code generator we're writing, so I don't have an actual type. I just know that a column is "string" or "int32" etc. Thanks.

• How do I use Amazon's new RRS for S3?

  Reduced Redundancy Storage (RRS) is a new service from Amazon that is a bit cheaper than S3 because there is less redundancy. However, I can not find any information on how to specify that my data should use RRS rather than standard S3. In fact, there doesn't seem to be any website interface for an S3 services. If I log into AWS, there are only options for EC2, Elastic MapReduce, CloudFront and RDS, none of which I use. Any insight? Thanks.

• Optimizing Mysql to avoid redundancy but still have fast access to calculable data

  An example for the sake of the question: I have a database which contains users, questions, and answers. Each user has a score which can be calculated using the data from the questions and answers tables. Therefore if I had a score field in the users table, it would be redundant. However, if I don't use a score field, then calculating the score every time would significantly slow down the website. My current solution is to put it in a score field, and then have a cron running every few hours which recalculates everybody's score, and updates the field. Is there a better way to handle this?

• While saving a PNG image using NSData writetofile saves corrupted data on the iphone disk

  I have a number of images (PNG,GIF and JPG) in my Application Resource Bundle. I want some images to be saved in my Documents Directory so i use : imgPath=[documentsDirectoryPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"myImage.png"]; if (![fileMgr fileExistsAtPath:imgPath]) { [[fileMgr contentsAtPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"myImage"ofType:@"png"]] writeToFile:imgPath atomically:NO]; } This saves an Image file on my desired Path but this file has an Extra 300 bytes (of maybe junk data) in it which results in a corrupted image... Am i doing something wrong here? This works in the simulator but on the real device the image has some extra 300 bytes. Also a GIF image gets copied nicely and works but this problem occurs for PNG image.

  I am trying to set a fetch request with a predicate to obtain records in the store whose identifiers attribute match an array of identifiers specified in the predicate e.g. NSString *predicateString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"identifier IN %@", employeeIDsArray]; The employeeIDsArray contains a number of NSNumber objects that match IDs in the store. However, I get an error "Unable to parse the format string". This type of predicate works if it is used for filtering an array, but as mentioned, fails for a core data fetch. How should I set the predicate please?
