• Why does TabStop stop working??

  I have a project that uses a series of auto-generated user control instances. The user-control itself exists, but I populate a panel with a series of these user controls, one for each item in my collection. Each user control displays a ton of information, but only ONE text field is editable. All of the other fields have TabStop set to false, and are marked as ReadOnly. The tab order of each user control is set at the time it is created so that the tab-key goes from one field to the next (or ... it's supposed to). When I have TWO fields on my user control whose TabStop is set to true, everything works great. But if I only have ONE field whose TabStop is true, the tab key stops working, and I have to physically CLICK on the next user control for it to gain focus. What's up? Has anyone else seen this behavior? Am I doing something stupid as usual?

• Android VideoView plays 2 videos at the same time

  I ma trying to play a videoview on top of another video view. the first video view is paused, while the second is playing. It appears to work but no second video appears on he screen (though I hear the audio and see the controls that would normally appear on top). I am assuming this is some sort of Zorder issue. Any thoughts. By the way, I have no problem displaying other views on top of the main video view and having the video fill the background.

  Hi, I am doing a cool menu (sorta XMB) to give a fresh touch to my app... I add all of the elements on the menu programatically via DB. the menu is designed for easy use with arrows keys but I have encountered a major problem!!! by default when I press the arrow keys they only change the focus based on the tabindex and what I need is to change focus based on position of the controls not on their tabindex hope it is clear... see pic!!! so, Is there any way to do this?

  Hi all! I have created a toolbar with some controls on it using ReBar within a window. Can anyone please tell me, How to get the HWND of a controller if I know (only) the Id of it ? How to obtain the HBITMAP if I know the id of the resource ? How to set the bitmap to the controller ? SendDlgItemMessageW(hWnd, nId, BM_SETIMAGE, IMAGE_BITMAP, (LPARAM)hBitmap); This isn't working for toolbars, isn't it ? I couldn't find a way to do it, please help me. Thank you... Regards

• php not showing all images

  I a writing a gallery app in php. The images are dynamically displayed through php. On each load of the page, not all images are showing. it does this randomly, on each load. I have not had this problem before, as I am new to php. • design time usercontrols - I can't see anything!

  newbie question, please forgive... I'm developing a Wpf UserControl that will eventually be bound to a business object. The usercontrol is little more than a series of laid out TextBlocks, and perhaps (later) an image or two. As I'm laying out the usercontrol, I can put dummy text into all the TextBlocks so I can see what the usercontrol will look like, but as soon as I change the text property to contain the Binding information: <TextBlock Margin="0,12.8,42,0" Name="lblLastName" FontSize="8" Height="19" VerticalAlignment="Top" Text="{Binding Mode=OneWay, Path=LastName}"/> Then I can no longer see the textbox, or any "placeholder" text. This makes it very difficult to adjust the location and sizes of all the controls on the UserControl. In WinFormas programming, you could set binding information independently of the Text property, so you could at least see the Placeholder text during design time development. It's going to be pretty hard to visually arrange a bunch of invisible TextBlocks! What's the standard solution for this?

• is it possible to do partial postback on web?

  Hi all, I read some paragraphs in a book saying that it is not possible to do a partial postback for web, even AJAX is employed. Ajax will postback everything and update only ajaxfied controls. However, on pages I made using ajax, I used Fiddler to monitor the transportation. I found when the page initial load, it loaded everything include pictures .... However, when I click a button and do a ajax postback. I can only see the some data were loaded.... Looks like it doesn't need to reload the whole page again. I don't know if what I see is correct? Or the book I read is correct? Thank you guys.

Basically you design your form to fit the standard 320x240 screen. To support a different screen size, you just add a new form, inherit from your custom form (instead of just Form), and then re-arrange the controls as necessary.

• ASP.Net Web Site Project - Errors Not Caught at Compile time

  For the first time in my career, I'm working on an ASP.Net (v3.5) project that has been set up as a Visual Studio 2008/10 Web Site Project. I'm not keen on this way of working this way for various reasons but for the moment and until such time as the company sees the virtue in working in an environment with namespaces, designer and project files etc., I have to continue with the existing codebase. I've run into some odd issues since I began this but perhaps the oddest one of all is that althought VS lets me build the code, it doesn't reliably pick up compilation errors so these are not noticed until runtime. I know the website model allows dynamic/hot compilation when a request is made for a specific but I can't see why it wouldn't do this when I manually (F5) build/rebuild the project. Its immensely annoying as you can imagine and I can't find a workaround. Could any StackOverflow person help with suome suggestions to make things better?

I'm need to write an stored procedure for SQL Server 2008 for performing some huge select query and I need filter it results with specifying filtering type via procedure's parameters (parameterize where clause). • jQuery .queue() not working as expected

Focus on the blue callout area with "Workers' Compensation" as the title: Basically, I've created a little slideshow there with the controls at the top and when you click on any of them both the callout and the background are to slide. As you can see it's working now, but the problem is that I want the new background to slide in over the old one. I've tried several things including the queue() method, delay(), and adding everything else to the animate() callback with no success (right now the background goes black and then the new image slides in). You guys have never let me down before, so I'm hoping this is an easy fix. Thanks in advance!

  I need to create a console application that has a main() function and pop a modeless dialog, so the console can still work in parallel to the modeless dialog (do other work, like communicating with the modeless dialog). Whatever i tried, i could only pop a modal dialog. (where the console is in hold till the modal dialog close itself). When switching to modeless dialog using Create() and ShowWindow() the dialog is displayed without its controls and it freeze / block (you can see the hourglass cursor). 1) i tried to pop the modeless dialog from the main() function 2) i tried to pop the modeless dialog from the InitInstance() of a CWinApp derived class In all cases the modeless dialog freeze / block. • Javascript: addClassName if input is checked and removeClassName if it was un-checked

  Im trying to select all the li tags of the document and check if it hasClassName('yes') so if it has, it will remove it. But im having a TypeError: Object [object HTMLLIElement], has no method 'hasClassName' error. This is the DOM method: document.observe("dom:loaded", function() { $(document.body).select('input').each(function(element) { element.observe('click', function() { init(); }); init(); }); }); The previous code will take the init fuction and check the if there are checked inputs and add them the 'yes' class name, but if I un-check those inputs, the class remains.   Im looking for a (free) solution to a bookingcalender. Among many candidates Ive found the Jquery Full Calender which has many cool features. One of the reason that I like this one is because it has "drag and drop" and resize, which I also need. But I also need to have the dayview where I the columms monday, tuesday, wedensday, thursday friday .... gets replaced with fx. Room1, Room2, Room3, Room4, Room5, Room6, Room7.   We want to implement a "News feed" where a user can see messages broadcasted by her friends, sorted with newest message first. But the feed should reflect changes in her friends list. (If she adds new friends, messages from those should be included in the feed, and if she removes friends their messages should not be included.) If we use the pubsub-test example and attach a recipient list to each message this means a lot of manipulation of the message recipients lists when users connect and disconnect friends. We first modeled publish-subscribe "fan out" using conventional RDBMS thinking. It seemed to work at first, but then, since the IN operator works the way it does, we quickly realized we couldn't continue on that path. We found Brett Slatkin's presentation from last years Google I/O and we have now watched it a few times but it isn't clear to us how to do it with "dynamic" recipient lists. What we need are some hints on how to "think" when modeling this.

• best way to statistically detect anomalies in data

  Hi, our webapp collects huge amount of data about user actions, network business, database load, etc etc etc All data is stored in warehouses and we have quite a lot of interesting views on this data. if something odd happens chances are, it shows up somewhere in the data. However, to manually detect if something out of the ordinary is going on, one has to continually look through this data, and look for oddities. My question: what is the best way to detect changes in dynamic data which can be seen as 'out of the ordinary'. Are bayesan filters (I've seen these mentioned when reading about spam detection) the way to go? Any pointers would be great! EDIT: To clarify the data for example shows a daily curve of database load. This curve typically looks similar to the curve from yesterday In time this curve might change slowly. It would be nice that if the curve from day to day changes say within some perimeters, a warning could go off. R

• Web service reference location?

  I have a Visual Studio 2008 solution that's currently consisting of three projects: A DataFactory project for Business Logic/Data Access. A Web project consisting of the actual user interface, pages, controls, etc. A Web.Core project consisting of utility classes, etc. The application requires consuming a web service. Normally I'd add the service reference to the Web project, but I'm not sure if this is best practice or not. The following options are open to me: Add the reference to the Web project. Add the reference to the Web.Core project, and create a wrapper method that Web will call to consume the web service. Add a new project called Web.Services, and copy step 2. This project is expected to increase in size so I'm open to any suggestions.

• SharePoint People editor control - UpdatePanel postback issue

  Hi I've a people editor control inside an update panel. During postback, I need to update the value of people editor control based on some selection. Though the value is getting updated, it is not being persisted on postback. I can see the value being updated when I debug. All other controls inside the update panel are working fine and their values are updated on postback. I have read blogs that we need to set the style attribute "display:block" on postback, but that's not working for me. Any suggestions highly appreciated. Thanks

• Problem making ant compile my classes present in different Eclipse projects into single destination

  I have close to about 20 projects in my Eclipse workspace. They are interdependent. Now I want to build all of them in a single war file. The thing is eclipse does it nicely... if I create a Dynamic Web Project and link sources of all the 20 projects. But I want to automate the entire process and want to be able to run a script (ant maybe..) and deploy a war in my app server. My approach: I started with a simple approach. I tried to sequentially build each project (javac task) with destination directory as web-inf of my war. But it is giving me weird errors like : package " ** " not found,when it shows the same all the required classes in classpath (I used verbose) Do you think, a continous integration engine will be better for my case (20 projects..) I saw Team City, but didnt get it the first time...

• Fake "user initiated" <audio> tag on iPad

  I know that Apple's docs say that an mp3 within an <audio tag on iPhone OS can't be played without user intervention (they cite bandwidth concerns, totally reasonable). However, has anyone succeeded in faking a user action to play the audio? Perhaps faking events to off screen native audio controls with JavaScript? I'm using jPlayer right now which works great on desktop Safari, but is silent on my iPad. I'm prototyping a touch interface using WebKit on the iPad, and audio is an integral part of the experience, so yes, I do have a good reason to want to override this convention. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
