  • How do I use BCP or Sql Server Management Studio to get BLOB data our of Sql Server?

    I'm sorry if this question has been asked already, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I have a table that stores files as BLOBS. The column that holds the file is an image datatype. I would like to be able to extract the binary data out of the column and turn it in to an actual file. I would ideally like to be able to do this with BCP or management studio if possible. I have tried BCP, but for some reason when I try and pull out an office document Word thinks it's corrupt. Here's what I've tried so far (obviously the values have been changed to protect the innocent :): bcp "select document_binary_data from database where id = 12345" queryout "c:\filename.doc" -n -S server -U username -P password This isn't working though? Any thoughts?

  • What's the best way to capture output from SQL Management Studio and paste it into an Outlook email?

    I'm constantly executing ad-hoc queries in SQL Management Studio and need to send the results to people via email. This happens several times a day so I'm looking for the best way to copy the results of the query from the results window into an Outlook email body so that it can be formatted in a reader friendly manner. I haven't come up with anything that works well for me. When it really matters, I end up going into Excel, executing the query from within there and then attaching the resulting spreadsheet. I'm looking for something that I can do without involving Excel if possible. Any ideas?

  • Background Image displaying in Design view but not in browser? (Visual Studio 2008)

    I'm new to CSS and this issue in Visual Studio is driving me mad! I have a background image defined within a simple style sheet... body { background-image: url(Images\Greenhouse.jpg); background-position: center; } My style sheet is referenced within the HTML code... <head runat="server"> <title></title> <link rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" href="Stylesheet.css"/> </head> The background image shows in design view but in the browser, nothing! I've tried changing position etc and refreshed the browser, cleared the cache etc. This happens with all my images. Images are within the project folder (\Images) and added to the solution explorer in VS. Tried "", changing image file names etc, nothing is working!

    The VSTO bit I understand. Visual Studio has the project templates to get you started with creating nice .NET based add-ins. But where is VSTA? I installed the SDK but it seems to be gears towards adding extensibility to your own applications. I had thought that VSTA was like the new VBA for Office 2007. Infopath 2007 seems to be VSTA enabled but I cannot seem to find where Excel 2007 is also VSTA enabled. Am I missing something?

  • How to modify the Title Bar text for SQL Server Management Studio?

    Sometimes I keep multiple instances of SQL Server Management Studio 2005 open. I might have the dev database open in one, and the production database open in another. These appear in the Windows task bar with the text "Microsoft SQL Serve...", which means it's impossible to differentiate between them unless I open the window and scroll the Object Explorer up to see what server the window is actually connected to. Is ther any way that I can get the window to display the server name first, and then the name of the application? Like "Dev-DB.database_name - Microsoft SQL Serve..." or whatever?

  • vb express / visual studio - is it possible to run / debug one form only in a multi form application

    hi, I have a vb application consisting of several winForms and code files. Is it possible to run / debug only one form without having to run the whole application? To be more specific, one of the forms in my application is the settings form where the user sets his/her desired options. These options are read/written to an xml file. Is it possible to debug just this one form (and not the whole program) to see if the reading/writing went well, if everything displayed correctly... ? If I am thinking the wrong way about this, could you point me in the right direction? By the way, I am using visual basic express / visual studio.

  • Why SQL Server Express 2008 install requires Visual Studio 2008 in checklist ?

    When installing SQL Server Express Edition 2008, checklist says "Previous version of Visual Studio 2008" and asked me to upgrade to sp1. Unfortunately sp1 for some reason refuses to install on my brand new pc (Windows 7). So why can't I just bypass this ? Why would SQL Server Express needs VS2008 to install that's insane. SQL Server install used to be as easy as 123, now it has become a nightmare like installing Oracle. Will I have to go back to Windows XP ?

  • Use DivX settings to encode to mp4 with ffmpeg

    I'm used to use VirtualDub to encode a video to AVI container with DivX-codec (and MP3 for audio). Now I'm planning to use ffmpeg to encode videos to MP4 container with h264-codec. What I've figured out is that I need to use libx264 and one of those presets to make anything work. However, I'm amazed about the video bitrate ffmpeg uses for encoding. What I currently have is this little batch file: @ECHO OFF SETLOCAL SET IN=source.avs SET FFMPEG_PATH=C:\Program Files (x86)\ffmpeg SET PRESET=-fpre "%FFMPEG_PATH%\presets\libx264-lossless_slow.ffpreset" SET AUDIO=-acodec libmp3lame -ab 128000 SET VIDEO=-vcodec libx264 -vb 1978000 "%FFMPEG_PATH%\ffmpeg.exe" -i %IN% %AUDIO% %VIDEO% %PRESET% test.mp4 ENDLOCAL With this I tell ffmpeg to use 1978k as the bitrate, but ffmpeg uses 15000k+! I tried other presets, but they don't use my specified bitrate. Just in case you wonder how I came up with the 1978000, I'm using this formula which I found valid for DivX-files (I'm guessing the bitrate won't change that much for h264): width * height * 25 * 0.22 / 1000 I'm not sure if the 0.22 correlates with the CRF somehow.     i have the problem, that my batch process breaking up each time after call a other batch file. The batch files are used to run a make process out from IBM Rhapsody. There convert the call from Rhapsody to the Visual Studio tools. So nmake will be called from the batch after make different settings. The scripts aren’t written completely from me, I only adapt theme to run under both windows architecture versions, x86 and x64. The first script (vs2005_make.bat) will be called from Rhapsody and run to the “call” statement. The second script (Vcvars_VisualStudio2005.bat) runs to the end. But the first script isn’t resume working, at this point the process break up without a error message. I'm not very familiar with batch files, this is the first time I make more than simple console commands in a batch file. So I hope I have given all information’s which needed, otherwise ask me.   • Cisco SR520w FE - WAN Port Stops Working

    I have setup a Cisco SR520W and everything appears to be working. After about 1-2 days, it looks like the WAN port stops forwarding traffic to the Internet gateway IP of the device. If I unplug and then plug in the network cable connecting the WAN port of the SR520W to my Comcast Cable Modem, traffic startings flowing again. Also, if I restart the SR520W, the traffic will flow again. Any ideas?   • Metro apps crash on startup, driver or permissions issue?

    After installing Win8 x64 RC, Metro apps worked correctly, but desktop OpenGL apps were slow and unresponsive. I installed the latest Win8 nVidia drivers, and the OpenGL apps started working correctly. At the same time, because of annoying permission messages, I changed the C:\ drive and all its files ownerships to my user, and gave it full permission. I restarted my pc after installing the drivers, and now Metro apps only show the splash screen, then crash. I tried installing other versions of the nVidia drivers, with the same result. My GPU is a GeForce GTX275. Is this a known problem with nVidia drivers? Or maybe changing the ownership of C:\ is the real problem? Thank you.   • Ubuntu 10.04 preseed unattended install results in faulty partition table

    I'm currently trying to set up an unattended installation of Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) through preseeding. But whenever I try to create a custom partition scheme, the Debian installer (which Ubuntu is using) produces a faulty partition table.     Need some assistance in analyzing apache and php process running on linux server. Its a 8-core intel processor with 4GB ram. When the website on it runs the top displays like this. Both apache and php was preconfigured so not sure whats done there. Tried setting up the same site and db on a different server but on it the process shows httpd always and not php5. The site uses mysql db. The problem is server load seems to go till about 5.x when the website was access by about 16users. When the free -m command was given the output shows total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 3941 3727 213 0 236 2734 -/+ buffers/cache: 756 3184 Swap: 4095 0 4095 Lots of memory seems to be in cache and free memory is less. Even when the website is not accessed that is leaving it very much idle for about 2days the free memory showed just 190. When the site is accessed the free memory seems to be go till 90mb then it increases to about 150mb. It always seems to remain just about 200mb. Is it somehow related to the server load showing 5.x. Will adding some more RAM resolve the load issue?

    I have setup a ghettoVCB script in order to backup three VM. I put it in a crontab but I have an issue. In my backup folder I have 3 different folders, one for each VM. It seems that a backup didn't finish the process.
