  Hi, I am developing an application where i want i am displaying a dataset in the datagrid view for the user.Now the user wants to download the data in the datagridview in an excel format.How can i do it ? 1) should i write the dataset in the excel and save it the server before the user download the file ? 2) Can i use a hyper link and set the path of the file that is saved in the server to the hyper link hRef property , so that the user can click and download the file ?   hello.. Am working on a personal project, where i need to manipulate values in a database-like format.. Up until now, am using dictionaries, tuples, and list to store and consult those values. Am thinking about starting to use SQL to manipulate those values, but I dont know if its worth the effort, because I dont know anything about SQL, and I dont want to use something that wont bring me any benefits (if I can do it in a simpler way, i dont want to complicate things) if am only storing and consulting values, what would be the benefit of using SQL? PS: the numbers of row goes between 3 and 100 and the number of columns is around 10 (some may have 5 some may have 10 etc)

• Real-Time Data Streaming to Multiple Clients

  Hi all, I would like to write an application which will stream data at 2400 baud over the internet from a server to multiple clients. The data will be the same for each client, and it would probably be fine to send it as a UDP stream, since exact data accuracy is not a 100% necessity, as there are checksums built-in to the data format and the data will be sent repeatedly on a loop. What is the best way to do this? I would want to write the server in C, but I don't know how to best multicast this data to the different clients that would be receiving it all over the country. I'm sure this seems like a pretty draconian way to go about my project, as opposed to just using some sort of fetch command, but I'd prefer to do it this way if possible.

This is happening in in Drupal pages that I create that have a 'Input Format' of 'PHP code'. • Get client timezone (not GMT offset amount) in JS

  I need to determine the client timezone (e.g. CET, GMT, EST) in JS. Getting the offset is straightforward, but doesn't have all the info necessary to determine the TZ, at least not easily. I have a feeling it might be possible to use a combination of offset, whether DST is in use and in effect, etc. but I'm hoping someone else has done the work already, especially considering the weird exceptions when dealing with time. This question is similar but both the question and the answer are based on the (incorrect) assumption every browser's DateString format includes the name of the timezone - which it does not. That is an implementation detail. So, with that I am currently stuck.

• Delegates doesnot work properly

• MySQL: Limit output according to associated ID

  So here's my situation. I have a books table and authors table. An author can have many books... In my authors page view, the user (logged in) can click an author in a tabled row and be directed to a page displaying the author's books (collected like this URI format: viewauthorbooks.php?author_id=23), very straight forward... However, in my query, I need to display the books for the author only, and not all books stored in the books table (as i currently have!) As I am a complete novice, I used the most simple query of: SELECT * FROM tasks_tb This returns the books for me, but returns every single value (book) in the database, and not ones associated with the selected author. And when I click a different author the same books are displayed for them...I think everyone gets what I'm trying to achieve, I just don't know how to perform the query. I'm guessing that I need to start using more advanced query clauses like INNER JOIN etc. Anyone care to help me out :)

• Using Remote Web Server to Initialize iPhone App

  My iPhone app relies on a vendor's XML feed to provide data. But that feed is not locked down. The vendor could change the format of the XML at any time, although so far they've promised not to. Since I might want to tell my app to use a different URL for its data source, I'd like to set up a single "Command Central" Web page, on my own server, to direct the app to the correct data source. In other words, each time my app starts, in the background and unseen by the user, it would visit "http://www.myserver.com/iphoneapp_data_sources.xml" to retrieve the URL for retrieving data from my vendor. That way, if my vendor suddenly changes the exact URL or the XML feed that the app needs, I can update that Web page and ensure that all installations of the app are using the correct XML feed. Does anyone have any advice or examples showing this kind of approach? It seems as if this must be a common problem, but so far I haven't found a well-established design pattern that fits it.

  I have a semi xml formatted file that contains line with the following format: <param name="Distance" value="1000Km" /> The first char in the string is usually a TAB or spaces. I've been using the following to try to parse the two strings out (from name and value): if(sscanf(lineread, "\t<param name=\"%s\" value=\"%s\" />", name, value) == 1) { //do something } name and value are char* Now, the result is always the same: name gets parse (I need to remove the quotes) and name is always empty. It seems that you're limited to using regular expressions and back-references to construct strings, without a search/replace functionality to replace every X with Y in {REQUEST_URI} before issuing a redirect.

• How to repopulate DataTables when having lots of data?

  Hi I am using datatables jquery plugin. I now have to clear the entire datatable and populate it with new data on the fly(all done through ajax). So what I was thinking to do is when I need to do this. Destroy the datatable remove the data html call up the partial view that renders the table Rebind the datatable with jquery. However it seems that datatable has no destroy method. So I know you can set the datatable to do something with ajax but I am not sure how. My datatable just uses the dom way when the page is loaded. I don't want to use the "fnAddData" as I am not sure how to format this 2d array they want and I don't think this is the best option. I think the best option is some how render the partial view back and use there ajax plugin. But I am not sure where that is or how to use it(I know it exists but that's about it). Thanks

• Printing an East Coast Timestamp in Arizona time

  Hello, The code returns "datesubmitted" in a nice format. The field "datesubmitted" is a timestamp of East Coast time. How could I print it out as Arizona time? Right now, that would be 3 hours behind East Coast time. For now, I would be happy just to do that. However, during other parts of the year (when Daylight Savings time is not being used), Arizona time is only 2 hours behind East Coast time. Is there a way that I could print the date below so that Arizona time is always correctly displayed? Or would I have to change the code when Daylight Savings time stops and starts? • Build turns partially transparent image pixels black

  I'm very new to C# and I've run into a problem and haven't been able to solve it. I have a row of buttons that have .png images assigned to them. The images are in .png format to allow transparency, and smoothing the edges in GIMP leaves some semi-transparent pixels. I've set the Image List Toolbar (imglToolbar)'s properties to recognize "Transparent" as the designated color to show up as transparent. I'm working in Visual Studio 2005. The strange thing is that everything looks great when I'm viewing the Visual C# form preview window. The icons look exactly as they should. However, once I actually build the project, the buttons treat every semi-transparent pixel near the edge of the image as if it's black.
