  How install ImageMagic 6.6.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) Problem that lucid have old ImageMagic version(6.5.2) Its very important because me need work with SVG grafics, In my local pc I have ubuntu 11.04 and ImageMagic 6.6.2 and all work fine, In server I have 6.5... and I have problem. Reinstall ubuntu to 11.* this is no solution. I tried change /etc/apt/source.list from ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) to list from ubuntu 11.04 (natty) and update ImageMagic. After this action I have ImageMagic 6.6.2 (I looked phpinfo()) but ImageMagick is not work now. If I try do any action I get error: [error] 8996#0: *19983 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'ImagickException' with message 'no decode delegate for this image format `/tmp/magick-XXnYKWKC' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/532' How it fix? • ProCurve network expansion

  I've hit a bit of a wall with our network scale-out. As it stands right now: We have five ProCurve 2910al switches connected as above, but with 10GbE connections (two CX4, two fiber). This fully populates the central switch above, there will be no more 10GbE Ethernet connections from that device. This group of switches is not stacked (no stack directive). Sometime in the next two or three months I'll need to add a sixth, and I'm not sure how deep of a hole I'm in. Ideally I'd replace the core switch with something more capable and has more 10GbE ports. However, that's a major outage and that requires special scheduling. The two edge switches connected via fiber have dual-port 10GbE cards in them, so I could physically put another switch on the far end of one of those. I don't know how much of a good or bad idea that would be though. Is that too many segments between end-points?   We have multi-user application (like MailChimp,Constant Contact) . Each of our customers has it's own contact's list (from 5 to 100.000 contacts). Everything is stored in one BIG database (currently 25G). Since we released our product we have the following data history. 5 years of data history : - users/customers (200+) - contacts (40 million records) - campaigns - campaign_deliveries (73.843.764 records) - campaign_queue ( 8 millions currently ) As we get more users and table records increase our system/web app is getting slower and slower . Some queries takes too long to execute .   Is there an easy way to get metrics on all processes that start with the letters XYZ? I have about 80 processes that I have to monitor individually that all start with the prefix XYZ. I have created a query using the sigar shell: ps State.Name.sw=XYZ, which will give me a list of the processes that I want. What I need to do is define this list of processes through said query and collect and track statistics from the Process service: http://support.hyperic.com/display/hypcomm/Process+service What I need is 3 or 4 key statistics for each of the XYZ processes defined by my query to show up as graphs in the web front end. Note: Hyperic HQ server is installed on a windows machine and I'm monitoring a Linux box via an agent. Thanks, Chris Edit: Here is my try at a plugin that may give me what I want, but it's not being inventoried/detected by the Hyperic web UI. Simply pointing me to one of Hyperic's tutorials won't do. • Linux NIC Bonding Issue (CentOS 4 / RHEL 3)

  I am having an issue with bonding NICs on CentOS 4. It appears the bonding driver does work, but it is stuck in round-robin mode and I am trying to get to active-backup. • JavaScript is not pointing correctly on IIS7 running behind Apache mod_proxy

  So here's my setup. I've got a DynDNS account since I have a dynamic IP. I have Apache listening on port 80 and IIS7 on port 8080. I don't want users to have to enter in mydyndns.dyndns.com:8080 to get to IIS7, so I've added the following code to my Apache httpd.conf file to enable a proxy/reverse proxy: <VirtualHost *:80> ProxyPass / http://localhost:8080/myASPSite/ ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:8080/myASPSite/ ServerName myaspsite.mydomain.com </VirtualHost> I've got a CNAME record set up on my DNS so that myaspsite.mydomain.com redirects to mydyndns.dyndns.com. When I type in myaspsite.mydomain.com into my browser, everything works beautifully... mostly. IIS7 serves up the ASPX pages and visitors to the site don't know any better. A problem arises, however, when I add Ajax Control Toolkit controls into my ASPX website, because these generate JavaScript and apparently mod_proxy_html isn't geared to handle the JS URIs properly. Sure enough, when I open up the source of my ASPX page, it has script elements as follows: <script src="/myASPSite/WebResource.axd?xyz" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="/myASPSite/ScriptResource.axd?xyz" type="text/javascript"></script> Sure enough, these scripts are attempting to be resolved at http://myaspsite.mydomain.com/myASPSite/WebResource..., which through the proxy translates to localhost:8080/myASPSite/myASPSite/.... How can I solve this problem. The couple of websites I found suggested turning on ProxyHTMLExtended but when I tried doing that, the server did not start. I'm guessing I didn't know how to do it properly. Anyone has a handy couple of config lines that I can add to my Apache conf file to get this working as I need? I'm using Apache 2.2.11. Thanks!

• Apache (Solaris 10): 2 symlinks to the same file, one works the other doesn't

  I'm seeing a strange issue with Apache I have a system that pulls a configuration file from a web server. I want to use a symlink with the name 'ocds-dpsarch01a.rules'. This doesn't work. However, if I change one character in that name and link it to the same file, it works - See below I can't think of any reason why one symlink would work when another doesn't? I would have thought either the Apache configuration is right and all symlinks work, or it isn't and no syslinks work(?) • Connect over WiFi to SQL Server from another computer

  I tried to connect over WiFi to SQL Server with SQL Server Management Studio from another computer, but it failed. I have a computer with Windows 7 & SQL Server 2008 (lets say the server computer). Next to it I have a freshly installed computer with Windows 7 & SQL Server Management Studio (let's say the client computer). What I did on the server computer: Configure firewall by enabling port 1433 Enabled network protocols (TCP/IP) inside SQL Server Configuration Manager Checked Allow remote connections to this server in server properties in the SQL Server Management application. Started SQL Server Browser Restarted services (SQL Server Browser is stopped at this point, but I don't think it is necessary. Is it?) Next, I successfully tested a ping on the port 1433 from my client computer with a tool named tcping (ex: tcping 192.168.1.4 1433). But I still cannot connect from my client computer to SQL Server on my server computer. Ok, something new with this problem: Until now, I successfully connected to my "server computer" with Management Studio. What I did is type the computer name in the server name field in the connection window of Management Studio. My previous (failed) attempt was to type the computer name followed by the instance of SQL server (ex: COMPUTER_NAME\SQL2008). I don't know why I only have to type the computer name. Now my new challenge is to be successful in connecting my VB6 application to this remote database located on my "server computer". I have a connection string for this but it failed to connect. Here is my connection string: "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Password=mypassword;User ID=sa;Initial Catalog=TPB;Data Source=THIERRY-HP\SQL2008" Any idea what's going wrong?

• Can't login via ssh after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10

  I have an Ubuntu 12.04LTS instance on AWS EC2 and I upgraded it to 12.10 following the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/QuantalUpgrades. After upgrading I can no longer ssh into my VM. It isn't accepting my ssh key and my password is also rejected. The VM is running, reachable, and SSH is started. The problem seems to be about the authentication part. SSH has been the only way for me to access that VM. • VPN Error 691 but server says authenticated on server

  Hello all, I have a problem with a vpn connection on Windows XP SP3 that appears to be related to an account (maybe privilleges or an option that I have missed). When connecting using my account, which is a domain administrator account it will connect to through the vpn fine. However, using an account created for another person they receive Error 691: Username or Password is not valid for this domain. On the domain controller (windows 2003) I see a logon successful message: User DOMAIN\user was granted access. Fully-Qualified-User-Name = int.company.net.au/People/Management/User NAS-IP-Address = 10.30.0.3 NAS-Identifier = not present Client-Friendly-Name = MelbourneCore Client-IP-Address = Router-ip Calling-Station-Identifier = not present NAS-Port-Type = Virtual NAS-Port = 77 Proxy-Policy-Name = Use Windows authentication for all users Authentication-Provider = Windows Authentication-Server = undetermined Policy-Name = Remote VPN Access Authentication-Type = MS-CHAPv1 EAP-Type = Does anyone have any ideas as to where else I should look for finding a solution? If i use the wrong password it gives a logon failure error in the event viewer. Also removing them from the remote access group gives a logon failure error. Nothing appears in the event viewer on the local machine. In the past all that is required is to add them into our Remote Access Users group. Any help?

• Xp SP3 - Non-Functioning

  Ok Here is a crazy problem, I have a HP dv6000 Laptop that can no longer hold a charge, so I hooked it up to my TV, bought a wireless mouse and keyboard and configured xp to run with the lid closed, It has medium to heavy usage mainly just streaming from sites like Netfilx, Hulu, ABC, etc. And playing movies I ripped of dvd. It ran fine for a while but recently it has been having some weird problems: Problem one: I used to use firefox but now when run it I can type but as soon as I click something it just shuts down, completely, I can't even close it unless I use taskmanager to do it. So I went and got google chrome which is better but still hit or miss, but never completely shuts down, I just can't click anything or type anything, or sometimes I just can't type anything or vice versa. Also when I open a new tab, and try to move back to my old one, it automatically closes the old tab when I click on it. Problem two: When using the internet I can't use any other application or anything windows (ie. Windows explorer) until I force quit all browsers with taskmanger. The reason I can't run anything is because I can't click on it. Problem three: When I try to play a movie (with vlc) Once it starts playing I can't click on anything, but I can use hotkeys, and once it stops everything is fine again. Well I hope somebody knows whats going on because I have no clue, If you need clarification or more info on something I would be happy to provide it...

  I am trying to close a handle to a locked file in Windows, using Sysinternals Handle software (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896655). However, whichever number I enter, it does not do anything. I have tried both: 1144, 2E8, 3A8 and 1144 in hex (478) as the software help says it accepts PID in hexademic. • DD-WRT (WRT54G) and (THOMSON TG782) how to put them togather?

  Ok so let me explain, i bought WRT54G and successfully installed DD-WRT v24-sp1 (07/26/08) mini-special - build 9994. That's all ok no problems with it all normal functioning. And just to add (i don't need wireless, wireless is turned off always) What i want: ISP's router (TG782) from it's INTERNET port(out) cable "which was before in my pc" is connected to WRT54G's INTERNET port and then from WRT54G LAN port 1 to my pc. The problem: How do i connect and setup all? I have tried many times on many different ways but cant get it to work IF THE CABLE FROM TG782 IS CONNECTED TO WRT54G ON INTERNET PORT. If i connect the TG782 to Lan port 1 on WRT54G and my pc to lan port 2 then all works fine after i setup gateway and all. But i want to connect TG782 to Internet port of WRT54G because i need "Access Restrictions" and this only goes through WAN right? please correct me if i am wrong. What i have tried: This is how i have tried to setup all. The TG782 router ip is 192.168.1.1 And WRT54G ip is 192.168.1.30 so in WRT54G control panel i have setup like this: ----WAN Connection Type---- Connection Type: Automatic Configuration - DHCP STP: Disabled ----Router IP---- Local IP Address: 192.168.1.30 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (the TG782) ----Network Address Server Settings (DHCP)---- DHCP Type: DHCP Server Start IP Address: 192.168.1.100 Maximum DHCP Users: 6 And this wont work i probably miss something more, if anyone can help i would be thankfull. • Replacing latex with unicode symbols

  Often, during a conversation or an email, or at a forum, I would like to type some math, but I don't need full equation support. Unicode symbols should suffice. What I need is an easy way to type math related unicode symbols. Since I already know latex, it makes sense to use the latex symbol mnemonics to type the math symbols. What I currently did is to write an AutoHotKey script which automatically replaces \latexSymbol with the corresponding unicode symbol, using the "hotstrings" AutoHotKey feautres. However, the AutoHotKey hotstrings proved unstable for many strings. Having a couple of tens lines would cause AHK to fail recognizing the strings from time to time. Any other solution? (No, Alt+unicode number isn't convenient enough) Attached is my AHK script. • How do I install the latest version of packages in Ubuntu?

  For example I want to install the latest version of "numpy". I type the following: "sudo apt-get install python-numpy". When I type this the first time it installs something and if I type this the second time it writes that I have already the latest version of numpy. However, I see that my version of numpy is 1.1.1. and I know that it NOT the latest version. Why it happens and how this problem can be solved? I can find the *tar.gz file with the latest version, I can extract files with the archive and than I need to rune one of the scripts which will be somewhere among the extracted files. But I do not like this way. It is too complicated. I do not know where I should put all these files, I do not know which dependencies I should install before I run the script for the installation of numpy, I do not know where numpy will be put after installation and so on. Is there an easy way to get the latest version of numpy?

• Desktop virtualization

  Is there currently a proper Type 1 "desktop" hypervisor? Either free or not? This is just for tinkering around at home on some beefy Phenom machines. Basically i want to be able to run say 2 OSs on the same PC but without loading windows or a heavy flavour of linux and then use a hotkey to switch between them. I should get full performance out of them. So do i need something better than vmware workstation and/or virtualbox. I think these are "Type 2"? I already run VMWare w/s and VBox but is there a more performant solution? I saw a YouTube video from Citrix where a laptop was running XP and Vista. With the touch of a hot key they could switch between them. There was no visible underlying OS (there might be a hypervisor)? I have access to Citrix XenDesktop 3 enterprise edition evaluation. I realise this isn't for desktops but can i achieve my goal (geekiness) ? If i use the free XenServer 5.5.0 how do my client PCs access windows/linux/whatever from the xenserver? Is it via a thin client RDP type application? If so if there one for both windows and linux? Also if i do use XenServer can i use USB in either direction? What is Citrix receiver can i use that for (3) ? If so, is there some hotkey i can configure? whatever client is used to access the server software (whether it be on a different server or local) can i get full opengl/directx acceleration? what about Xen? i tried the Xen LiveCD but no clue as how to configure it. As you can see much confusion. Any help/pointers welcome. Cheers.

• Gwibber doesnt launch post upgrade

  i updated my pc from ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 and one of the things i was looking forward too was the "me menu" and gwibber.
