  • Have to enter google sites through second-level domain

    I'm having the same problem as this guy. I own two domains hosted on google sites, mydomain.com and mydomain.net. When I go to mydomain.com, it redirects me to the site located at www.mydomain.com (this is the desired behavior). This used to also work on mydomain.net, but now when I go to mydomain.net, I get a Google 404. To see the content, I have to go to www.mydomain.net. As far as I can tell, the DNS settings and Google apps settings for both domains are identical. Does anybody have any idea about what could be happening?

  • Removing bing from my google search bar when I open a new tab

    Bing has rudely planted its self on my "open new tab" so above bing my regular google is there but below is the irritating bing search bar! I have tried everything I know of to get rid of it and it will not go! I can not find it listed under my settings, control panel and/or uninstall! This is the second time bing has made its unwelcome tush comfy in my google area! How frustrating! I miss my mac book pro! Removing bing from my google search bar when I open a new tab.

  • Google Apps for Business on a separate infrastructure?

    Does anyone know if Google Apps for Business edition hosts the apps (gmail, calendar, etc.) on a physically separate infrastructure than the Standard (free) infrastructure? We've been growing increasingly annoyed with the lost/severely delayed email messages, downtime, etc. of Google Apps (standard) over time, and we are wondering if moving to the paid version would bring any benefits. Specifically, if the Business edition is not in some way on a different physical infrastructure, and we are in essence paying for a few small perks but still run on the usual standard/free setup, then we would probably have the same (or just as many) issues with the Business version. I've emailed Google's sales team responsible for GApps, but haven't heard anything back in 4 days, which already doesn't speak well for the service. So, anyone have any insight into this? Thanks in advance for any and all help :)

  • Import Google Voice Contacts Into iPhone

    What I'd like to do is have my Google Voice contacts available on my iPhone, not the other way around. I recently had to restore the phone to factory defaults and it's a pain to manually enter all them all. When I make a new GMail e-mail account on my iPhone it won't let me import contacts from my Google account, but even if it did I don't want every single contact in my phone. Google for some reason adds every single person I've ever sent e-mails to into my contacts list, which as you can imagine is quite a large list by now. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do this?

  • How To: Transfer Categories in Outlook 2007 from One Installation to Another Using Google Sync

    I use Outlook 2007 for email. I also happen to use the categories for organizing my mail. This function is cool, because you can use keyboard shortcuts that make categorizing mail quick and easy. The problem I am having is that, since I use Google Apps Sync at home and at work, I can't seem to figure out how to transfer the existing category assignments that I spent months creating at work. As my email comes and goes, I assign this and that, with thousands of messages all belonging to specific categories. When I finally installed and started using Google Apps Sync at home, the synchronization process works great, but all my messages are blank, i.e., don't have the color categories I assigned at work. What's worse, I actually changed computers at work, and now am facing the same problem on the new workstation. Using: Windows XP Pro, Outlook 2007, Google Apps. Anyone run into this and find a solution?

  • Google docs spreadsheet not loading

    I have a Google spreadsheet with a lot of very important data and some scripts that where working well. At some point, the brownser crash and I reload the page. After that, I can't acess that (only that!) spreadsheet any more! I try it from other Google accounts but it doesn't work. All I get is the "Loading..." message in the brownser tab and nothing more (the loading process never completes). I also can't: copy the file or download it! Ie, I can lose all the information in my spreadsheet and also lose all my scripts! (I never think something like this could hapen with a Google Product) How can I solve this problem?   • Eclipse Java Code Formatter in NetBeans Plugin Manager

    Great news for Eclipse refugees everywhere. Benno Markiewicz forked the Eclipse formatter plugin that I blogged about sometime ago (here and here)... and he fixed many bugs, while also adding new features. It's a handy plugin when you're (a) switching from Eclipse to NetBeans and want to continue using your old formatting rules and (b) working in a polyglot IDE team, i.e., now the formatting rules defined in Eclipse can be imported into NetBeans IDE and everyone will happily be able to conform to the same set of formatting standards. And now you can get it directly from Tools | Plugins in NetBeans IDE 7.4: News from Benno on the plugin, received from him today: The plugin is verified by the NetBeans community and available in the Plugin Manager in NetBeans IDE 7.4 (as shown above) and also at the NetBeans Plugin Portal here, where you can also read quite some info about the plugin:  http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/50877/eclipse-code-formatter-for-java The issue with empty undo buffer was solved with the help of junichi11: https://github.com/markiewb/eclipsecodeformatter_for_netbeans/issues/18 The issue with the lost breakpoints remains unsolved and there was no further feedback. At the moment, I've achieved to create multiple placemarks and drag&drop them but I'm not able to delete it because I cannot identify them individually. I'm using the google earth api examples1 but I cannot find this functionality. I want to get the name of the different placemarks, any idea?

  • Maven webapp with maven-eclipse-plugin doesn't generates <dependent-module>

    I use the eclipse:eclipse goal to generate an Eclipse Project environment. The deployment works fine. The goal creates the var classpath entries for all needed dependencies. With m2eclipse there was the Maven Container which defines an export folder which was WEB-INF/lib for me. But i don't want to rely on m2eclipse so i don't use it anymore. the class path entries which are generated by eclipse:eclipse goal don't have such a export folder. While booting the servlet container with WTP it publishes all resources and classes except the libraries to the context. Whats missing to publish the needed libs, or isn't that possible without m2eclipse integration?     Running WAS 6.1.xx in a network deployment. The IBM provided plugin keystore's "plugin-key.kdb" password expires on april 26th along with the personal cert inside it. So no problem right? Create new cert and set new password on the kdb, restash the password and off we go! Well no! I can open the keystore using the new password with ikeyman and keytool. Using some "slightly dodgy" script, I can reverse the stash file and see that indeed the new password is set. Then, even if I restore the old keystore files (plugin-key.kdb,plugin-key.crl,plugin-key.sth,plugin-key.rdb) they no longer work either! So it must be permissions right? Well the permissions are the same as before, if I switch to apache user I can browse right through to the files and read them. I have even chown'ed them to apache:apache and/or chmod 777 and still its the same error! Does anyone have a clue what is going on here? Its pretty urgent as our site will be without HTTPS in a couple of days if this isn't resolved - thats bad for a retail web site :)

  • When to choose "Generate an activator..." when creating a new Eclipse plugin project

    There are lots of Eclipse RCP tutorials that begin with "Create a new plugin project..." It seems that approx. 70% of them specify checking the Generate an activator, a Java class that controls the plug-in life cycle. The others specifically say don't check that toggle. Its not clear to me, what generating an activator class does for you, when you need one, and when you don't. For being a prominent option you get every time you create a new plugin project (it seems to be set on by default) this option isn't very well explained anywhere that I have found. Any advice/rules of thumb on choosing this option when creating Eclipse plugin projects?

    Everytime I have to search something on stackoverflow.com using Google I have to type the rather long <search term> site:stackoverflow.com Is there some way to speedup the process, so that I need not type the whole 23 characters of site:stackoverflow.com each and every time? I am using Google Chrome.

    Do you like the challenge of fast-paced games? Then get ready to put yourself to the test with the Air Hockey extension for Google Chrome during company time. Air Hockey in Action There are two ways that you can play Air Hockey…either using the drop-down window or opening the game in a new tab. For our example we chose to play in a new tab. Before starting the game you can choose the difficulty level, to enable/disable the sound, and/or to go to full screen if desired. Note: Screenshot of “Full Screen” version shown below. While playing you really have to stay on top of things…the computer player will beat you rather quickly if you do not. Hustle hustle hustle! With a little bit of practice it does become easier but even the “Easy Level” on this game will keep you busy. If the normal size game screen seems just a bit small you can easily get a larger version using the “Full Screen Link” below the game window. Whether your browser is non-maximized as shown here or totally maximized it will fill the entire browser window area. Conclusion If you like fast paced games then the Air Hockey extension certainly fits that criteria and will keep you on your toes. Make sure and keep the sound off while playing during Friday afternoon though!   • Google doesn't seem to update the description or title of my homepage

    Before we launched our website, we had set up a "coming soon" page and google picked up the title and description from its contents. So the description in the search results said, "Coming soon! Visit epicwhale.org for updates." It's been a few weeks since we launched our website. We've even created a sitemap and submitted it to google. In the google webmaster panel, the pages have been crawled and all the pages are appearing as expected on google, EXCEPT the homepage which is still not updated! The title and description of the homepage in google search results still says coming soon.. The website I am referring to is textmewidget.com and below are the images of the search result. Google: http://i.imgur.com/vAkJg.png I checked on bing too, but it appears to be fine there. Bing: http://i.imgur.com/Q8O6L.png All other pages seem to be indexed fine on google. I don't even have any crawl errors in my reports. So what seems to be the problem? I've already waited for 2 weeks. Thanks in advance!
