• Dynamically loading CSS and JavaScript using Prototype

  I have a classic ASP application that I've been constantly trying to modularize. Currently, almost all pages are divided in to two pages: an outer page that contains the layout, header, sidebar, footer an inner page that contains ASP code The outer pages use dreamweaver templates so updating layout and replicating changes is easy. The inner pages are managed by me. Now here is the problem: I had to add a lightbox to one page, I chose Lightbox 2 which requires Prototype. I ended up adding Prototype on every page, assuming that sooner or later I'll upgrade all pages, forms, ajax requests and other javascript to use Prototype. I've now added two other plugins -- Modalbox and Protofade; each with a pair of .JS and .CSS files. Since I'll be using these three plugins on specific set of pages I am wondering if I can load the required CSS and JS files dynamically. I do not want to access the document head and add include files there, I'll have to do this from inside a DIV where all ASP code is supposed to go.

I am interested in finding words that are similar in context (i.e. cat and dog) and I was wondering how do I compute the similarity of two words on a n-gram model given that n 2. Given a sample set like this forexample: (I, love cats), (cats, loves, dogs), (dogs, hate, human) What is a good way to compare the similarity of this pair (I, cats)? Also does anyone know of anyway to do levels for NLP? like: Army-Military-Solider ?

  One handy feature of Scala is lazy val, where the evaluation of a val is delayed until it's necessary (at first access). Ofcourse a lazy val must have some overhead - somewhere Scala must keep track of whether the value has already been evaluated and the evaluation must be synchronized, because multiple threads might try to access the value for the first time at the same time. What exactly is the cost of a lazy val - is there a hidden boolean flag associated with a lazy val to keep track if it has been evaluated or not, what exactly is synchronized and are there any more costs? And a follow-up question: Suppose I do this: class Something { lazy val (x, y) = { ... } } Is this the same as having two separate lazy vals x and y or do I get the overhead only once, for the pair (x, y)?

• Integration (math) in C++

  Hi all, I'm looking for a library to find the integral of a given set of random data (rather than a function) in C++ (or C, but preferably C++). There is another question asking about integration in C but the answers discuss more how to integrate a function (I think...). I understand that this can be done simply by calculating the area under the line segment between each pair of points from start to finish, but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if this has already been done. I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate; I searched pretty extensively to no avail. My math isn't as strong as I'd like it so it's entirely possible I'm using the wrong terminology. • iphone: is there any secure way to establish 2-way SSL from an application

  Hi I need to establish a HTTPS 2-way SSL connection from my iPhone application to the customer's server. However I don't see any secure way to deliver the client side certificates to the application (it's an e-banking app, so security is really an issue). From what I have found so far the only way that the app would be able to access the certificate is to provide it pre-bundeled with the application itself, or expose an URL from which it could be fetched (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2037172/iphone-app-with-ssl-client-certs). The thing is that neither of this two ways prevent some third party to get the certificate, which if accepted as a risk eliminates the need for 2-way SSL (since anyone can have the client certificate). The whole security protocol should look like this: - HTTPS 2-way SSL to authenticate the application - OTP (token) based user registration (client side key pair generated at this step) - SOAP / WSS XML-Signature (requests signed by the keys generated earlier) Any idea on how to establish the first layer of security (HTTPS) ? regards

  I've been suffering from a lot of elbow and forearm pain lately, and apparently it's caused by my arms and elbows constantly pressing against the desk. My doctor says I'm damaging the nerves on my elbow, and if I don't use elbow pads (or spend less time with the computer), it will get worse, and I will be risking permanent damage to the nerves. Since spending less time with the computer was not really an option, I purchased a pair of these: They didn't arrive yet, and I know they will probably make me look like a total idiot (my girlfriend has already started making jokes) when they do, but health comes first. Anyway, my question is: do you use any protective gear while programming? If yes, what do you use? Thanks,

• IE8 blocking JavaScript Cookies

  Hey there folks, Here is one that is throwing me for a loop. I am trying to set a simple cookie that has one name:value pair on IE8. Tested on FF and it works fine. IE8 keeps blocking it. • Extract co-ordinates from a vector of co-ordinates and save to file

  I have a vector which contains a list co-ordinates ...x1,y1 ; x2,y2....xn,yn I am trying to extract each individual element which is a co-ordinate and then save them to file as a nice delineated co-ord pair which can be easily read. Or what would be nice i to save them so I can plot something in excel e.t.c (as cols of x and y values). • Stack trace for C++ using gcc

  We use stack traces in proprietary assert like macro to catch developer mistakes - when error is caught, stack trace is printed. I find gcc's pair backtrace()/backtrace_symbols() methods insufficient: Names are mangled No line information 1st problem can be resolved by abi::__cxa_demangle. However 2nd problem s more tough. I found replacement for backtrace_symbols(). This is better than gcc's backtrace_symbols(), since it can retrieve line numbers (if compiled with -g) and you don't need to compile with -rdynamic. Hoverer the code is GNU licenced, so IMHO I can't use it in commercial code. Any proposals?

  Does rails provide a way to ignore extra keys that are passed in to create. Supposed User has two attributes, first_name and last_name. When I do User.create({ :first_name => "first", :last_name => "last", :age => 10}) that line gives me an UknonwnAttributeError. Well, that makes sense, it happens cause age is not one of the attributes. But is there a way to just ignore key-value pair that is not one of the attributes for User?

I can output the content of eax with section .bss reg_buf: resb 4 . . . print_register: mov [reg_buf], eax mov eax, SYS_WRITE mov ebx, SYS_OUT mov ecx, reg_buf mov edx, 4 int 80h ret Let's say eax contains 0x44444444 then the output would be "DDDD". Apparently each pair of "44" is interpreted as 'D'. My ASCII table approves this. But how do I get my program to output the actual register content (0x44444444)?

But when I do a git push, it counts objects, decompresses, then says: fatal: the remote end hung up unexpectedly. What's the issue here?   Yes, it is possible to generate tests on boundary values for functions like "Sum" or "Divide". Pex is a good tool here. But more often we create tests on business behaviour. And this is very dangerous. So, the question is - Is Pex really usefull tool?

I don't want to remap the whole image since I only want to learn the 3D location of one object for each frame. • CGAL replacement for iOS

  I have a set of nodes that define streets. Each node has latitude and longitude. Also I have user location with latitude and longitude. My intention is to build Voronoi diagram for segments defined by each pair of nodes, and then find which node user location is closest to. Looks like this task can be accomplished with CGAL library. While I'm in the process of compiling it for iOS environment, probably you guys will be able to give links to libs that are already compiled against iOS, or were intended to be used in Objective C environment from the very beginning... Because I'm afraid that even if CGAL compiles for me, I might get into trouble when using it. Thanks!
