• Is there a way to intersect/diff a std::map and a std::set?

  I'm wondering if there a way to intersect or make the differences between two structures defined as std::set<MyData*> and std::map<MyData*, MyValue> with standard algorithms (like std::set_intersect) The problem is that I need to compute the difference between the set and the keyset of the map but I would like to avoid reallocating it (since it's something that is done many times per second with large data structures). Is there a way to obtain a "key view" of the std::map? After all what I'm looking is to consider just the keys when doing the set operation so from an implementation point it should be possible but I haven't been able to find anything.

  Following the instructions here: http://linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/lpt/20_08.html I'm aiming to tar up a directory but only want to include .php files from that directory. Given the aforementioned instructions, I've come up with this command. It creates a file called IncludeTheseFiles which lists all the .php files, then the tar is supposed to do it's job only using the files listed in IncludeTheseFiles find myProjectDirectory -type f -print | \ egrep '(\.[php]|[Mm]akefile)$' > IncludeTheseFiles tar cvf myProjectTarName -I IncludeTheseFiles However, when I run this it doesn't like the I include option? tar: invalid option -- I

Currently working in SAP seems price less as people are dieing for it but at the same time I have really strong academics and many people are forcing me to apply for masters abroad for which I have to leave this job.This decision seems to be really tough. This decision of moving to SAP sometimes makes me happy as it is valuable and on the other hand my technical skills are completey dieing. • Dynamically creating astar node map by triangular polygonal map

  My game's map format uses a bunch of triangles to make up the platforms and terrain in 2d. Right now I can set up a 2d array of nodes for the astar algorithm that basically is a bunch of rectangles across the maps x and y that can be set to "wall" if the a* algorithm should try to go around it. However I want a function in the map loader to create the node overlay if the nodes are not specified. I was thinking if more than n percent of the a* rectangle overlaid on map was filled by polygons I could mark that entry in the array as "wall". However I'm stuck on how to do this(or even start) where/when the triangles can be overlapping and also of variable size.

• SQL SERVER – Changing Default Installation Path for SQL Server

  Earlier I wrote a blog post about SQL SERVER – Move Database Files MDF and LDF to Another Location and in the blog post we discussed how we can change the location of the MDF and LDF files after database is already created. I had mentioned that we will discuss how to change the default location of the database. This way we do not have to change the location of the database after it is created at different locations. The ideal scenario would be to specify this default location of the database files when SQL Server Installation was performed. If you have already installed SQL Server there is an easy way to solve this problem. This will not impact any database created before the change, it will only affect the default location of the database created after the change. To change the default location of the SQL Server Installation follow the steps mentioned below: Go to Right Click on Servers >> Click on Properties >> Go to the Database Settings screen You can change the default location of the database files. All the future database created after the setting is changed will go to this new location. You can also do the same with T-SQL and here is the T-SQL code to do the same. • Web deploy (msdeploy), syncing everything but sites and pools (but include siteDefaults)

  Today I do the following to sync two webservers but skip all site configuration: msdeploy -verb:sync -source:webServer -dest:webServer,computerName=web25:8080 -skip:objectName=section,absolutePath=system.applicationHost/sites -skip:objectName=section,absolutePath=system.applicationHost/applicationPools However, this effectively also skip the siteDefaults, which I do like to sync (system.applicationHost/sites/siteDefaults) There doesn't seem to be a way to "include" a section, to override the skip directive. And there doesn't seem to be a way to sync only the siteDefaults section from applicationHost either, since source appHostConfig only seem to sync a specified site, and not siteDefaults. Maybe it is possible to "skip" using an Xpath expression or similar, to only skip the nodes, but include , but I find the documentation a bit confusing and my Xpath is rusty.

• How to change speed without changing path travelled?

  I have a ball which is being thrown from one side of a 2D space to the other. The formula I am using for calculating the ball's position at any one point in time is: x = x0 + vx0*t y = y0 + vy0*t - 0.5*g*t*t where g is gravity, t is time, x0 is the initial x position, vx0 is the initial x velocity. What I would like to do is change the speed of this ball, without changing how far it travels. Let's say the ball starts in the lower left corner, moves upwards and rightwards in an arc, and finishes in the lower right corner, and this takes 5s. What I would like to be able to do is change this so it takes 10s or 20s, but the ball still follows the same curve and finishes in the same position. How can I achieve this? All I can think of is manipulating t but I don't think that's a good idea. I'm sure it's something simple, but my maths is pretty shaky.

• SAP or Navision? Career Path

  This could be tricky to ask; I may or may not ask this question here but I thought to give it a try. I've been in Software Industry since 2002 and now it has been a time that I'm at Senior level where I normally code, lead and define the architect; giving technical solutions to the management is one of my asset that I've earned during my services. Now it is the time to define the road map for the future, $$$. I am not in favor of Project Management roles. I've been thinking of going through the ERP and my current company does provide me an option to go for Navision/ Microsoft Dynamics. They are currently on 4.0 but they are planning to move for 2009 and also to build one of their own plug-in. Indeed the option is good because Microsoft is trying to accomplish the market for Dynamics products. However, they have less success in Australia. Now, Another option is with SAP where person can go with 200 K $ a year. Where as I'd doubt that if the same kind of growth, financial, is available for Microsoft geek. What is your opinion on Navision or SAP? If I try to completely move to SAP it could be bit challenging as market will consider me a fresher. However the return is quite good. Where in case of Microsoft, I think technology changes so fast that there is a less chance to grow in, within, the same experience; in other word, if any new framework comes in .net then market look for that person who knows this new framework and not .net But in case of SAP, where the base remain same and chances are to grab more money from the market. What would you do if you were me? In stackoverflow - Navision questions are 20+ where in SAP 200+///?? :-)

• SPF include: too many IP addresses

  I've hit a snag with SPF. The SPF record for my domain will contain four or five entries, plus it will contain: include:sgizmo.com The SPF record for sgizmo.com contains eleven entries! This, plus mine, is way over the maximum ten allowed by the RFC (and probably by most servers). I realize that there has to be a limit in order to prevent DoS attacks. However, in the real world, it is probably not unreasonable for large companies to have many server addresses. Furthermore, must I know monitor my 'include:' counterparts for changes and additions? Must I check weekly, daily, to insure that some combination of changes doesn't suddenly put me over the top? It doesn't seem to me that SPF is suitable for prime time. Is there another way to do this?

  i just downloaded sublime text for my ubuntu, and its working fine. i have the executable file in my ~/sublime folder. now i would like to invoke this app from the terminal by just typing sublime. i suppose that is possible, pls let me know how. also, since this application did not need any configure/make/install (i just had to extract it and then use the exec file to run the app), i cannot add this to my gnome launcher fav apps panel. how can i put the app shortcut there, so that when i do a top-left and then type sublime, the results will show the applicaion and then i can click on it and invoke the app from there? thanks!

  We use several Word documents as templates and currently include 'guidance' text for the reader - in the form of grey, italic text - to provide guidance to the person completing the document. Note how the grey+italic text is used to provide both guidance and example content Problems with this approach include: People forgetting to delete all of this template/boilerplate text People using the italic+grey formatting when inputting real information because they don't change the style We've considered including Reviewing comments as an alternative but this can be a pain and suffers from the first problem above. I'm not sure a simple, elegant solution exists here but if there's something obvious I'm missing I'd love to hear about it.

• How to set density for each shape in PhysX 3.1

  I'm using PhysX 3.1 as my game's physics engine. One requirement is that I need set different density for each shape(there are server shapes for my single rigid actor). I know that the shape's density can be set by NxShapeDesc::density in PhysX 2.8, but I can't find such interface in PhysX 3.1. I know that the mass properties can be set in PhysX 3.1 just as the snowman example in the SDK, but I don't know whether there exists a direct interface to set density for each shape.

• Blocking path scanning

  I'm seeing in my access log a number of request very suspicious: /i /im /imaa /imag /image /images /images/d /images/di /images/dis They part from a known resource (in the above example /images/disrupt.jpg). All comming from same IP. Requests varies from 1/sec to 10/sec, seems somewhat random. It's obviously they are trying to find something and seems they are using a script. How do I block this kind of behaviour? I though of blocking the IP request, at least for a given time. Keeping in mind that: Request intervals seems legitimate (at least I think so). I don't want to end blocking a search engine bot, which may find 404 urls too (and that's a different problem, I know). ¿Do they use always same IP?

  This is the 1st time I'm dealing with server. May I know what does it mean by "Exchange Server 2010 does not include WebDAV"? Does this mean that EWS does not use HTTPWebRequest and HTTPWebResponse anymore or does not communicates by using the same ports that HTTP and HTTPS? Is it some setting done at the server side that disable the use of WebDav? When it said does not include WebDAV, what does it actually mean? If i really want to use WebDav in Exchange Server 2010, is it possible? Yes, EWS is way better compared to WebDav but what if I wish to use WebDav.

One is CS/IT and focuses on algorithms, math, multimedia, web technologies with optional interesting courses like AI and robotics. Second is about business process management, software architecture and project management. I have some experience in business software and I must say, I never though I need deeper understating of algorithms or program language but I always felt that I'm lacking in project planing or management knowledge.   Say i have two points (x,y), (0,0) and (10,10). Now i wan´t to get coordinates along the line by stepping through values of x and y. I thought i solved it with the following functions: fy = startY + (x - startX) * ((destY-startY)/(destX-startX)); fx = (y + startY) / ((destY-startY)/(destX-startX)) + startX; taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_interpolation However, it seems that im getting a problem when destX and startX is the same value, so you get division by zero. Is there a better way of getting coordinates along a line when knowing the start and endpoint of the line?

  I know how to mount an encrypted ext4 partition. However, now I want to do the opposite. I want to mount a folder of an existing partition somewhere else in my filesystem, but when accessing it, files should get encrypted using AES256. Is that possible? Here an example: I have a folder containing some images 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg, etc. I want to mount this folder in another location so that the content of the images are encrypted. Filenames shouldn't change. Background: I want to synchronise my image folder to a cloud storage, but I want to encrypt the files before upload. The tools provided by the cloud provider don't support client side encryption. Therefore, I want to use the tools on a folder only containing encrypted data.
