• how to specify the file path in rails over Mongrel web server

  hi, I have a request to load a swf file, flaMovie.swf from rails. The swf file is located the directory /home/user1/railsproj/flash. • jquery slideUp() and slideDown() problems

  Hello, I am very crap at jquery, and im having some trouble with the slideUp() and slideDown() animations. I have been working on a vCard design similar to tim van damme's site. here is a the link to the design: link. When you click on the portfolio or work button, the text or image appears first before the div finishes sliding down. I would like the div to slide down first and then show the text... This currently works when you click on the contact button or the home button on the top navigation bar, but does not work for the portfolio button and the work button. I have a hunch that this may not even be a jquery problem, and that its just my bad css code, but I have skimmed through the css code, and changed things like z-index, but that hasnt worked.

• Measuring execution time of a system call in C++

I imagine this is because the execution jumps out of the current process. clock_t begin=clock(); system(something); clock_t end=clock(); cout<<"Execution time: "<<diffclock(end,begin)<<" s."<<endl; Then double diffclock(clock_t clock1,clock_t clock2) { double diffticks=clock1-clock2; double diffms=(diffticks)/(CLOCKS_PER_SEC); return diffms; } However this always returns 0 seconds... • Can't see images used in slideshow or other jQuery plug-ins in Internet Explorer 8

  I am getting a weird error. I can see images in slideshow, lightbox, etc. in Firefox and Chrome but in Internet Explorer 8 there are no images. Something is wrong with JavaScript/jQuery I think. I am using jQuery 1.4.2, jquery.flow.1.2.min.js jquery.bgpos.js jquery.easing.1.3.js jquery.lightbox-0.5.min.js jquery.validate.js cufon-yui.js jquery.galleriffic.js DD_belatedPNG.js clearbox.js Please check this. • Easiest way to pass a javascript array or its values to a servlet and convert to a HashMap

  I have a Javascript array. I want to pass it's data to a servlet using the ajax() method of jQuery. What is the easiest way to do this. The index values i.e. the i in array[i] are not in order, they are numbers that have meaning themselves, hence I cannot simply loop through and create a GET queryString, or so I believe. Maybe I should be converting the JavaScript array to a JSON Object and sending that to the server ?? I am stumped on this one.

  I'm using MCX (I don't even know if someone here is familiar with it, pretty unkown derivate of COBOL and Fortran, look it up in google when you don't believe me) Note: I'm using MCX on the MCX-WebServices server as it does neither support apache or ISS, mabye that is one problem. The thing is that I want to use the XML library to read in an XML file and convert it into an output format readable by the user.   Hi, I have recently installed SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with Advanced Services on XP Pro but am having trouble getting full text searching to work with an restored database. The database was originally created in SQL Server 2005. When I call a stored proc that uses the full text index then I get the following error: Full-Text Search is not installed, or a full-text component cannot be loaded. This is my db version: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (RTM) - 10.0.1600.22 (Intel X86) Jul 9 2008 14:43:34 Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Express Edition with Advanced Services on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 3) When I run: SELECT DATABASEPROPERTY('DBNAME','ISFULLTEXTENABLED') I get: 1 Also, when I look in the advanced properties for the db server in Management Studio I see both the "Default Full-Text Language" and "Full-Text Upgrade Option" properties. However, when I go to SQL Server Configuration Manager I don't see the "MSSQLFDLauncher" service. Does anyone know how to get this working? Cheers, Iain

  Hi, I am developing a Blackberry app which should be able to access a DB. Here is my development environment and the tools I am using: Eclipse (Galileo) IDE with the Blackberry plugin installed. Blackberry OS 5.0 SQLAnywhere's DB 11 with UltraLiteJ (I am targeting Blackberrys running OS 4.1 and above) I have successfully executed a sample project for building a Blackberry application that uses the UltraLiteJ DB, following the tutorial in the UltraLiteJ documentation*. The tutorial creates, populates and retrieves data from the DB using java code. Now, I want to be able to access the tables and view data in them from the Eclipse IDE. Something similar to the FireFox plugin for SqlLite or say the Enterprise Manager for Sql Server 2005 which is a DB Explorer providing access to the StoredProcedures, Views, DB Diagrams etc. for a Database.   Hello, I need to do some processing only after the user has successfully logged in the system. I have thought that I can do a RESTful method and setting it as the default-target-url so when the login is successful it goes to this url and then I can redirect to the real index of my web application. <form-login login-page='/login.htm' default-target-url='/home.htm' always-use-default-target='true' /> The problem is that this processing can be executed by calling its URL so it could be executed by any user at any time. I want to make sure it is only executed after login. Is there any way to do this? Thank you very much.

  Hello, I'm wondering until when the .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 will be supported by Microsoft. According to Microsoft Support Lifetime page for developers products the mainstream support phase should last for 5 years and extended support phase for another 5 years. I've found a .NET Framework 2.0 entry in the Support Lifetime Index , however I was unable to find any entry for .NET 3.0 and .NET 3.5 there (or .NET 4.0). According to the .NET framework 2.0 entry mainstream support phase for .NET 2.0 will end at 4/12/2011. I have two questions: Considering that .NET 3.0 and .NET 3.5 depends on .NET 2.0 CLR does it means that mainstream support for .NET 3.x will also end in 4/12/2011? If it's not true what is the end of mainstream support for .NET 3.0 and .NET 3.5?

• Generating unobtrusive JS

  I have read quite a bit about unobtrusive JS and how to generate it and all that jazz... My problem is this: I have a website that heavily relies on mod_rewrite, so essentially all the pages requests are sent to index.php that generates the main structure of the page and then includes the appropriate page. Now, there are different sections in the site and each section uses different Javascript functions (e.g. for different AJAX requests). Now, if I just were to attach a function to the onload of the page obviously the thing would not work, as I do not have to initialise the same things for each page... so what is the best way to handle this situation? I hope the situation is clear, I'll be happy to clarify if needed

  I'm using Disqus comments on my site. Users can comment on blog posts or on podcasts. So I have a page that lists all the blog-posts and one listing all of my podcasts. I'm using the combo-widget to display the most recent comments on each of these two pages. But I only want recent blog-post comments to show up in the list on the blog index page and likewise for podcasts. At the moment, the combo-widget lists all the comments, regardless of whether or not they were left on a blog post or a podcast... Is Disqus even built to be used in this way? [Site built with rails and I'm using norman's disqus plugin, although I doubt it matters...]

  Is there any way to call toString() on an object with the JSTL? (I need the String representation of an enum as index in a map in a JSP EL expression.) I hoped something like ${''+object} would work like in java, but JSTL isn't that nice, and there does not seem to be any function that does it. Clarification: I have a variable somemap that maps Strings to Strings, and I have a variable someenum that is an enumeration. I'd like to do something like ${somemap[someenum.toString()]}. (Of course .toString() does not work, but what does?)

  HI guys. Im using mod_rewrite to do some redirects on a web site. I want to be able to do the following mySite.com/ - Goto Home mySite.com/foo - Goto redirect.php and redirect acordingly. My redirect rule was RewriteRule (^\w*$) redirect.php?url=$1 [NC] But im oviously missing something because when I go tomySite.com/ I get sent to redirect.php I need a regex that allow lower and upper case letters, as well as underscores but it has to ignore "empty" strings so when I go to mySite.com/ the index file is displayed. Any help? Thanks!

The URL looks like this: example.com/articles/category-sub-category/article-name I'm using mod rewrite module to hide my index.php, and codeigniter routing to hide the controller action that handles every call. I want to hide articles too, but if i hide it, every call goes to the articles controller, and thats not what i want, because i want my url look like this: example.com/category-sub-category/article-name Ive tried it with regexp routing rules in the routes.php but i found no way to make it right.

• Visual Studio 2010 failed tests throw exceptions

  In VisualStudio2010 Ultimate RC I cannot figure out how to suppress {"CollectionAssert.AreEqual failed. (Element at index 0 do not match.)"} from Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting.AssertFailedException If i Ctrl+Alt+E I get the exception dialog; however that exception doesn't seem to be in there to be suppressed. Does anyone else have any experience with this? I don't remember having to suppress these Assert fails in studio 2008 when running unit tests. My tests would fail and I could just click on the TestResults to see which tests failed instead of fighting through these dialogs. For now I guess I'll just run my tests through the command window.

  I'm hosting several domains on one account, and I currently have a RewriteRule set to redirect the root url (www.root.com) to a subdirectory (/public_html/root/). However, I have few directories in the root (/public_html/xyz/) that I would like to access from the root url (www.root.com/xyz). Is this possible to write a redirect for this, or do I have to place these folder in the /public_html/root/ directory?
