  • sanitation script in php for login credentials...

    What I am looking for currently is a simple, basic, login credentials sanitation script. I understand that I make a function to do so and I have one...but all it does right now is strip tags... am I doomed to use replace? or is there a way i can just remove all special characters and spaces and limit it to only letters and numbers...then as for the password limit it to only letters and numbers exclimation points, periods, and other special chars that cannot affect my SQL query. In other words, how to emulate xml data storage with html as semantically as possible. Some various solutions that I've seen mentioned in passing are custom DTD, custom attributes with xhtml, early adoption of html5 and its data- attribute. Now, I'm looking for some tangible material that goes in depth with these concepts.

    I'm looking for a way to embed Flash into a XHTML Transitional page that does not rely on enabled JavaScript, which validates and that works across all major Browsers including IE6. So far I'm using this solution which seems to work just fine: http://latrine.dgx.cz/how-to-correctly-insert-a-flash-into-xhtml#toc-final-solution However, when this method is used in an RSS Feed it seems that Feedburner and Google Reader at least (maybe other feed readers, too) strip the whole object tags and only leave the alternative content. Any suggestions how to improve this?

    I have just installed paperclip into my ruby on rails blog application. Everything is working great...too great. I am trying to figure out how to tell paperclip not to output anything if there is no record in the table so that I don't have broken image links everywhere. How, and where, do I do this?   • CVS branch name from tag name

    I have a number of modules in CVS with different tags. How would I go about getting the name of the branch these tagged files exist on? I've tried checking out a file from the module using cvs co -r TAG and then doing cvs log but it appears to give me a list of all of the branches that the file exists on, rather than just a single branch name. Also this needs to be an automated process, so I can't use web based tools like viewvc to gather this info.

I have the media plugin installed and working from what I can tell but when I view the page http://philadelphia.cities2night.com/articles/show/article/105/arthur-kade-runs-into-stewart-bradley-starting-star-linebacker-for-the-philadelphia-eagles-and-talks-about-fashion-show-he-s-hosting I see the object tags. Is this a issue with the plugin?

    I'm coding a WYSIWYG editor width designMode="on" on a iframe. The editor works fine and i store the code as is in the database. Before outputing the html i need to "clean" with php on the server-side to avoid cross-site-scripting and other scary things. Is there some sort of best practice on how to do this? What tags can be dangerous? UPDATE: Typo fixed, it's What You See Is What You Get. Nothing new :)
