  • Can I automate the finding of -l parameter I use when linking based on header files (gcc)?

    Normally when linking against a static library, I have to specify a library directory and the name of a libX.so (or its symbolic link) as -lX flag for linking [and its directory with -L flag]. Can I automate this based on my header files (in c/c++) only? Or maybe it is not a good idea? Is there a software for locating the -L and -l parameters automatically? Is some table stored somewhere on the system about this on popular linux systems or even cygwin?

  • 32/64 bit problems with Eclipse CDT on Ubuntu

    I have just recently started running Linux on my PC and I am trying to start learning OpenGL. I am using the latest version of Eclipse CDT as my IDE, and my system is Ubuntu 10.10, 64 bit version. The problem I am having is that whenever I try to run a build from within the IDE I get the error message "Launch Failed. Binary Not Found." Ive done a lot of looking around on the internet but I still cant solve the problem. I know for a fact that the binary is built, it can be run from a terminal window. According to posts I have seen the problem is that Eclipse tries to run a 32 bit binary, but GCC 4.4.5 defaults to 64 bit binaries on a 64 bit system. Ive seen a lot of information about using the -m32 flag in makefiles, but then I still get the following output in Eclipse: make all g++ -o HelloWorld2 main.o /usr/bin/ld: i386 architecture of input file `main.o' is incompatible with i386:x86-64 output /usr/bin/ld: final link failed: Invalid operation collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [HelloWorld2] Error 1 What I would like to know is how to either get Eclipse to launch the 64 bit binaries, or have Eclipse correctly compile 32 bit binaries.

  • C Programming: malloc() inside another function

    Hi Guys, I need help with malloc() inside another function. I'm passing a pointer and size to the function from my main() and I would like to allocate memory for that pointer dynamically using malloc() from inside that called function, but what I see is that.... the memory which is getting allocated is for the pointer declared withing my called function and not for the pointer which is inside the main(). How should I pass a pointer to a function and allocate memory for the passed pointer from inside the called function? Can anyone throw light on this? Help!!!   • Unique prime factors using HashSet

    I wrote a method that recursively finds prime factors. Originally, the method simply printed values. I am currently trying to add them to a HashSet to find the unique prime factors. In each of my original print statements, I added a primes.add() in order to add that particular integer into my set. My printed output remains the same, for example, if I put in the integer 24, I get 2*2*2*3.   • Do i need to dispose of MySqlCommand?

    I find it incredibly annoying to write a using statement on every one of my queries (which require its own command or write parameters.clear()) which sometimes require declaring variables outside of the using block. Its so incredibly annoying and looks much dirtier compared to the version without disposing the object. Do i need to dispose of it? what happens if i dont? I do know its good practice to dispose of an object when it has that interface.

  • LINQ thinks I need an extra INNER JOIN, but why?

    I have a LINQ query, which for some reason is generating an extra/duplicatre INNER JOIN. This is causing the query to not return the expected output. If I manually comment that extra JOIN from the generated SQL, then I get seemingly correct output. Can you detect what I might have done i nthis LINQ to have cuased this extra JOIN? Thanks.   • Passing data between Drupal module callback, preprocess and template

    I've create a module called finder that I want to take parameters from a url, crunch them and then display results via a tpl file. here's the relevant functions... function finder_menu() { $items = array(); $items['finder'] = array( 'page callback' => 'finder_view', 'access callback' => TRUE, ); return $items; } function finder_theme($existing, $type, $theme, $path) { return array( 'finder_view' => array( 'variables' => array('providers' => null), 'template' => 'results', ), ); } function finder_preprocess_finder_view(&$variables) { // put my data into $variables } function finder_view($zipcode = null) { // Get Providers from Zipcode return theme('finder_view', $providers); } Now I know finder_view is being called. I also know finder_preprocess_finder_view is being called. Finally, I know that result.tpl.php is being used to output. But I cannot wrap my head around how to do meaningful work in the callback, somehow make that data available in the preprocessor to add to "variables" so that i can access in the tpl file. in a situation where you are using a tpl file is the callback even useful for anything? I've done this in the past where the callback does all the work and passes to a theming function, but i want to use a file for output instead this time. Thanks...

  • VB.NET 2008, Windows 7 and saving files

    Hello, We have to learn VB.NET for the semester, my experience lies mainly with C# - not that this should make a difference to this particular problem. I've used just about the most simple way to save a file using the .NET framework, but Windows 7 won't let me save the file anywhere (or anywhere that I have found yet). Here is the code I am using to save a text file. Dim dialog As FolderBrowserDialog = New FolderBrowserDialog() Dim saveLocation As String = dialog.SelectedPath ... Build up output string ... Try ' Try to write the file. My.Computer.FileSystem.WriteAllText(saveLocation, output, False) Catch PermissionEx As UnauthorizedAccessException ' We do not have permissions to save in this folder. MessageBox.Show("Do not have permissions to save file to the folder specified. Please try saving somewhere different.", "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error) Catch Ex As Exception ' Catch any exceptions that occured when trying to write the file. MessageBox.Show("Writing the file was not successful.", "Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error) End Try The problem is that this using this code throws an UnauthorizedAccessException no matter where I try to save the file. I've tried running the .exe file as administrator, and the IDE as administrator. Is this just Windows 7 being overprotective? And if so, what can I do to solve this problem? The requirements state that I be able to save a file! Thanks.

    I was bored today at school and so I tried to amuse myself using my calculator and a "game" I've invented which isn't really a game but keeps the boringness away. Also some time has passed since the last real code-golf here, so I decided to create this one. Imagine a simplified numpad like you know it from your phone (I'll leave the 0 out for this code-golf as it kinda destroys all the fun) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Now the rules of the game were always: At the end every digit must have been visited exactly once You can start at any digit you want You can always move one digit up, down, left or right. You can't move diagonally! There a quite a lot of possible ways (or not; I haven't found out yet), here some trivial examples: > > v v < < > > | The output of the golf-program should look something like the above, I'll try to explain: Symbols: Go right < Go left ^ Go up v Go down | End of the way Example solutions: (Program output can either be the numbers pressed in the right order from beginning point to end, or an (ASCII) picture like above) 147852369 569874123 523698741 So if we speak out the example above it would be: Start at 1, move right to 2, move right to 3, go down to 6, go left to 5, go left to 4, go down to 7, go right to 8 then go right to 9 and we are finished!     What is the easiest way to check if something is a list? A method doSomething has the parameters a and b. In the method, it will loop through the list a and do something. I'd like a way to make sure a is a list, before looping through - thus avoiding an error or the unfortunate circumstance of passing in a string then getting back each letter.
