• JSF/ADF/PPR can't refresh the page as expected

  Hi, I am having issues with JSF/ADF/PPR on refreshing the page incorrectly. I have a selectManyCheckBox with 5 options in it, one of the option is 'All'. • 'Game Show' presentation

  I work at a state university, and every day of summer orientation we have a little jeopardy-like game that new students' parents play. We run it in an auditorium. Right now the game is a powerpoint presentation (set up similar to jeopardy) off an old laptop running Powerpoint 2003. What I want to do is to purchase & use a smaller tablet/mini-book with a touchscreen. The touchscreen would be much more professional than dragging a mouse around the screen to select category questions. I also want to use hot keys during the presentation for sound effects (for correct + incorrect answers), and I want to play music and show an automated slideshow (photos from the day). This device would need vga or hdmi and audio out. I've been looking at iPads and iPad alternatives, but figured someone out there might have a better idea or done this before.

  I am attempting to setup ConTagged - The LDAP Address Book but I am having a few issues with some of the attributes. The problem is that some of them are undefined and they do not seem to be in the inetorgperson.schema. How do I set these custom attributes? For reference, here is the exact error I receive whenever I make a change to a contact. • Form not sending full data

  I have a form with over 50 input fields. The input fields are divided into 5 jquery jabs within the form container. • DNS and IPs - Does DNS send the IP back to the client?

  I ran across a site that talked about routing all cients requesting by IP to a "dead end." The clients accessing the site via ip it claimed were typically automated exploit tools and bots. Legitimate users type in the web address by it's domain question. With this context in mind, I don't really understand how DNS really works. I thought it worked by sending an IP back to a client for the requested DNS (like a phone book.) The client then uses the IP to access the site. • Automatic Site Creation

  I have created a platform that i want users to sign up and a new site is created for them instantly. Users will register and afterwards they will receive a username and password for their personal site. The system will work like ecommerce platforms such as www.shopify.com, www.bigcommerce.com, etc.. where users sign up and a new web-shop is created for them instantly. I have been searching for a while how i can create a script to automate this task but couldn't find any tutorials. Am using LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySql and PHP). Am asking if someone can guide me how to write such script or maybe point me to a tutorial or a book or probably similar scripts to automate this task.   I want to put some of my own technical writing on the web: tutorials, how-to's, conceptual articles about programming etc. I write mostly for myself yet, but think others can benefit from it so I want to put it online, and I also have plans of making everything more coherent and turning it into a book. My articles are not meant as a blog, they're just meant as a collection of tutorials and how-to's, but I think a blog-type software would probably be the most appropriate mode of formatting that kind of stuff. Right now I am using the blog feature of cite u like, which is very low tech and I really need something better. On my wish list is, among other things: code snippets in scrollable boxes syntax highlighting for source code snippets tagging articles with graphical icons according to topic, like in slashdot of course users (i.e. readers) should be able to comment on articles Also, just more options than a super-simple blog should look slick! should not look wikipedia-like Is there any software you can recommend for this purpose?

• BN_hex2bn magically segfaults in openSSL

  Greetings, this is my first post on stackoverflow, and i'm sorry if its a bit long. I'm trying to build a handshake protocol for my own project and am having issues with the server converting the clients RSA's public key to a Bignum. It works in my clent code, but the server segfaults when attempting to convert the hex value of the clients public RSA to a bignum.   I've accumulated a good collection of book snippets in pdf format from Safari Online and I was thinking about getting an ebook reader, specifically the Sony-PRS300, to hold them all for portable reference. If anyone has done this, two questions. Are there any DRM restrictions when the pdfs are put on the reader? I can't see any restrictions flat out in the pdfs on my notebook. There's a watermark that says the pdf is licensed to me. How good is the reader at rendering complex pdfs, with code snippets and illustrations? I read a previous post where it works fine in landscape mode. I can deal with that. Thanks in advance.

• GCC/X86, Problems with relative jumps

  I'm trying to do a relative jump in x86 assembly, however I can not get it to work. It seems that for some reason my jump keeps getting rewritten as an absolute jump or something. A simple example program for what I'm trying to do is this: .global main main: jmp 0x4 ret Since the jmp instruction is 4 bytes long and a relative jump is offset from the address of the jump + 1, this should be a fancy no-op. However, compiling and running this code will cause a segmentation fault. The real puzzler for me is that compiling it to the object level and then disassembling the object file shows that it looks like the assembler is correctly doing a relative jump, but after the file gets compiled the linker is changing it into another type of jump. For example if the above code was in a file called asmtest.s: $gcc -c asmtest.s $objdump -D asmtest.o ... Some info from objdump 00000000 <main>: 0: e9 00 00 00 00 jmp 5 <main+0x5> 5: c3 ret This looks like the assembler correctly made a relative jump, although it's suspicious that the jmp instruction is filled with 0s. I then used gcc to link it then disassembled it and got this: $gcc -o asmtest asmtest.o $objdump -d asmtest ...Extra info and other disassembled functions 08048394 <main>: 8048394: e9 6b 7c fb f7 jmp 4 <_init-0x8048274> 8048399: c3 ret This to me looks like the linker rewrote the jmp statement, or substituted the 5 in for another address. So my question comes down to, what am I doing wrong? Am I specifying the offset incorrectly? Am I misunderstanding how relative jumps work? Is gcc trying to make sure I don't do dangerous things in my code?

• Windows Phone app: Binding data in a UserControl which is contained in a ListBox

  I have an "AddressListBox" ListBox that contains "AddressDetails" UserControl items, as shown in the .xaml file extract below. The Addresses collection is defined as ObservableCollection< Address Addresses and Street, Number, PostCode, City are properties of the Address class. The binding fails, when I use the "{Binding property}" syntax shown below. The binding succeeds, when I use the "dummy" strings in the commented-out code. I have also tried "{Binding Path=property}" syntax without success. • Debugging unexpected error message - possible memory management problem?

  I am trying to debug an application that is throwing up strange (to my untutored eyed) errors. When I try to simply log the count of an array... NSLog(@"Array has %i items", [[self startingPlayers] count]); ...I sometimes get an error: -[NSCFString count]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1002af600 or other times -[NSConcreteNotification count]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x1002af600 I am not sending 'count' to any NSString or NSNotification, and this line of code works fine normally. A Theory... Although the error varies, the crash happens at predictable times, immediately after I have run through some other code where I'm thinking I might have a memory management issue. Is it possible that the object reference is still pointing to something that is meant to be destroyed? Sorry if my terms are off, but perhaps it's expecting the array at the address it calls 'count' on, but finds another previous object that shouldn't still be there (eg an NSString)? Would this cause the problem? If so, what is the most efficient way to debug and find out what is that address? Most of my debugging up until now involves inserting NSLogs, so this would be a good opportunity to learn how to use the debugger.

• Two-page view in Word, shouldn't the first page be on the right?

  Greetings Superusers, I'm putting together a lengthy document in Word, and it's going to be printed and bound duplex. I've put page-numbers "outside" etc, and all is pretty. The problem is, in the "Two Pages" view, it puts p1 on the left, then p2 on the right, then p3 below on the left, and p4 on the right. p1 p2 p3 p4 p5 p6 Shouldn't this be slightly different though? When I get to print it, p1 is on the right, not the left, so the preview should go p1 p2 p3 p4 p5 p6 Because when I "open" the book, it's pages 2 and 3 that are side-by-side. This makes layout tweaking confusing, because it's not instantly obvious which pages will be "visible" to the reader at the same time together. Have I missed something? I can't just put a blank page first, because that would bugger up the printing, as the printer automatically duplexes and binds etc. (Office 2008, by the way)

  ViewModel I have a property of type Member called KeyMember. The 'Member' type has an ObservableCollection called Addresses. The Address is composed of two strings - street and postcode . View I have a ListBox whose item source need to be set to ViewModels's KeyMember property and it should display the Street of all the Past Addresses in the collection. Question My ViewModel and View relationship is established properly. I am able to write a data template for the above simple case as below <ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding KeyMember.Addresses}"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="Address"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Street}"/> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> How would I write the DataTemplate if I change KeyMember from type Member to ObservableCollection< Member assuming that the collection has only one element. PS: I know that for multiple elements in collection, I will have to implement the Master-Detail pattern/scenario.

• JSP request parameter is returning null on a jsp include with Weblogic.

  Hello, I am having trouble with the jsp:include tag. I have code like the following: <jsp:include page="./Address.jsp"> <jsp:param value="30" name="tabIndex"/> <jsp:param value="true" name="showBox"/> <jsp:param value="none" name="display"/> </jsp:include> The page is included fine, but when I try to access the parameters on the Address.jsp page, they are null. I have tried accessing them the following ways (with jstl): <c:out value="${param.tabIndex}" /> <c:out value="${param['tabIndex']} /> <%= request.getParameter("tabIndex") %> <c:out value="${pageScope.param.tabIndex} /> ${param.tabIndex} etc... Here is the kicker, The above works fine in tomcat 5.5. However, when I deploy the application in Weblogic 10, it does not. Also, the code works fine in other areas of my application (on weblogic) just not a particular page. Any Ideas? Thanks!

• MySQL database design question

  I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of a database design, and would like to get some feedback as to the best approach. Here is the situation: I have users of my system that have only a few required items (username, password). They can then supply a lot of optional information. This optional information continues to grow as the system grows, so I want to do it in such a way that adding new optional information is easy. Currently, I have a separate table for each piece of information. For example, there's a table called 'names' that holds 'user_id', 'first_name', and 'last_name'. There's 'address', 'occupation', etc. You get the drift. In most cases, when I talk to my database, I'm looking only for users with one particular qualifier (name, address, etc.). However, there are instances when I want to see what information a user has set. The 'edit account' page, for example, must run queries for each piece of information it wants. Is this wasteful? Is there a way I can structure my queries or my database to make it so I never have to do one query for each piece of information like that without getting my tables to huge? If i want to add 'marital status', how hard will that be if I don't have a one-table-per-attribute system? Thanks in advance.

• Does WD Drive Lock encrypt the data?

  I wonder if WD Drive Lock ineed encrypts the data on a Western Digital My Book Essential device or just puts a firmware-level password on the device. If it's just a password the data surely could be retrieved by a third party. I could not find anything on about that on user manuals. I found a blog saying "data is secured with AES256" bla bla but that doesn't say anything about if the password could be compromised or not. Because I don't see any delays when I add/remove the password. On the other hand when I enable BitLocker, it takes hours before it encrypts everything with my password.

• iphone crash log with dSym not loading debug information

  Hello, I was trying to see why my application crashed on the device (iPhone) using the dSym generated along the executable (in ad hoc), but I don't know why, there isn't any useful information. It seems that "Organizer" is able to find the appropriate dSym and translate some data into more readable one, but when it comes to my application, I just have an address. Since I know how to reproduce it, I've tried to setup my build so it can help me in the future. So, I've tried to find if I had all the proper flags set int the project build properties and everything seems fine. So after doing some research, it seems that all information are stripped during link time and the dSym seems completely useless. I've played with some flags, but nothing changed. So, is there something special to do in order to get the crash file human readable? Or is it impossible in the ad hoc setting? The closest thing near to work that I've done was to build a debug version and look up the address in it. At least it seems to give the right file. • Help to restructure my Doc/View more correctly

  Edited by OP. My program is in need of a lot of cleanup and restructuring. In another post I asked about leaving the MFC DocView framework and going to the WinProc & Message Loop way (what is that called for short?). Well at present I am thinking that I should clean up what I have in Doc View and perhaps later convert to non-MFC it that even makes sense. My Document class currently has almost nothing useful in it. I think a place to start is the InitInstance() function (posted below). In this part: POSITION pos=pDocTemplate->GetFirstDocPosition(); CLCWDoc *pDoc=(CLCWDoc *)pDocTemplate->GetNextDoc(pos); ASSERT_VALID(pDoc); POSITION vpos=pDoc->GetFirstViewPosition(); CChildView *pCV=(CChildView *)pDoc->GetNextView(vpos); This seem strange to me. I only have one doc and one view. I feel like I am going about it backwards with GetNextDoc() and GetNextView(). To try to use a silly analogy; it's like I have a book in my hand but I have to look up in it's index to find out what page the Title of the book is on. I'm tired of feeling embarrassed about my code. I either need correction or reassurance, or both. :) Also, all the miscellaneous items are in no particular order. I would like to rearrange them into an order that may be more standard, structured or straightforward. ALL suggestions welcome! • Time capsule on windows 7

  Hi guys, I have a time machine to backup my mac book pro. All work fine with it. Now, my girlfriend have a PC on windows 7. She wants to backup her PC with cobian backup on the time machine. But her PC doesn't see the time capsule, so it's impossible to connect it. The Time capsule is connected on my box adsl with wifi and the mac and the pc are connected on the box with wifi. Why windows doesn't see the TC ? I installed "bonjour" on the PC but nothing worked. Thanks for your help.

  I'm studying for my CCNA exam and I have to create a VLSM scheme using RIP-2 for the following requirements: (this is an exercise) Use the class C network 192.168.1.0 network for your point-to-point connections Using the Class A network 10.0.0.0, plan for the following number of hosts in each location: New York: 1000 Chicago: 500 Los Angeles: 1000 On the LAN and point-to-point connections, select subnet masks that use the smallest ranges of IP addresses possible given the above requirements. In all cases, use the lowest possible subnet numbers. Subnet zero is allowed. My guess is the following: New York: S0/0 192.168.1.1 /24 Fa0/0 10.1.0.1 netmask 255.255.248.0 - because we need 1000 hosts Chicago: S0/0 192.168.1.2 /24 Fa0/0 10.2.0.1 netmask 255.255.252.0 (for 500 hosts) Los Angeles: S0/0 192.168.2.3 /24 Fa0/0 10.3.0.1 netmask 255.255.248.0 (for 1000 hosts) Is this a good configuration? • Value objects in DDD - Why immutable?

  I don't get why value objects in DDD should be immutable, nor do I see how this is easily done. (I'm focusing on C# and Entity Framework, if that matters.) For example, let's consider the classic Address value object. If you needed to change "123 Main St" to "123 Main Street", why should I need to construct a whole new object instead of saying myCustomer.Address.AddressLine1 = "123 Main Street"? (Even if Entity Framework supported structs, this would still be a problem, wouldn't it?) I understand (I think) the idea that value objects don't have an identity and are part of a domain object, but can someone explain why immutability is a Good Thing? EDIT: My final question here really should be "Can someone explain why immutability is a Good Thing as applied to Value Objects?" Sorry for the confusion! EDIT: To clairfy, I am not asking about CLR value types (vs reference types). I'm asking about the higher level DDD concept of Value Objects. For example, here is a hack-ish way to implement immutable value types for Entity Framework: http://rogeralsing.com/2009/05/21/entity-framework-4-immutable-value-objects. Basically, he just makes all setters private. Why go through the trouble of doing this?
