  • How to search within an xml data set?

    Hi, I have some xml data and I am trying to keyword search data. For example, if I search "some" for the following data it returns me the <id> and <title>. <resource> <id>101</id> <title>Test Environment</title> <description><b>Some</b> description. </description> <type>classroom</type> </resource> <resource> <id>102</id> <title>ABC Test Environment</title> <description><b>Some</b> another description. </description> <type>classroom</type> </resource> ... I had a look on on xpath e.g. $xml->xpath('//title') but looks for elements only. Basically what I need to do is to create a functionality where users can keyword search within the above data set which I receive from third party api in the above format. Any ideas how I can achieve this? using PHP/ Javascript etc. Thanks.

  • I need to sort the facets that come back from SOLR by relevancy

    I have within my SOLR index song objects which belong to a higher level album object. An example is shown below: <song> <album title>Blood Sugar Sex Magic</album title> <song title>Under the Bridge</song title> <description>A sad song about junkies</description> </song> What I can do at the moment is create a facet on the album title so that a search on songs will also show me what albums contain hits for that keyword. The default behaviour for SOLR is that the facets are shown in the order of most hits to least. However what I want to achieve is the facet list to be sorted according to the relevancy of the top hit for that album. For example a search on the word "sad" may show a facet with one hit for "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" and there may also be an album called "Sad Clown songs" where there are 10 hits. "Sad clown songs" will show as the first facet even though it may be that "Under the bridge" comes up as the most relevant song. My question is how can I get all the facets back but then have them ordered by the relevancy of the songs within them? If I would need to change or extend some underlying SOLR code what would that be? Thanks in advance.

  • Very simple code for number search gives me infinite loop

    Hello, I am a newbie Computer Science high school student and I have trouble with a small snippet of code. Basically, my code should perform a basic CLI search in an array of integers. However, what happens is I get what appears to be an infinite loop (BlueJ, the compiler I'm using, gets stuck and I have to reset the machine).   • Which PHP calendar will suit my needs? Or build my own?

    There are so many web based calendars out there that I'm not sure which will best suit my purposes. I want to create an events calendar, which I suppose looks and functions in much the same way as google calendar. But users shouldn't need to sign up for a gmail account or a google account. Users of my social network website should be able to create events in the calendar and share it with other friends in their "friend network". In month, year or day views, you can mouse hover events to see a bubble dialog that lists events in detail. People need to pay a monthly fee to use my website (not sure if this prevents me from using google apps). So is something like Google Calendar the way to go? Or are there other php/javascript calendars out there that already meet my needs? Or will it just save me more time to build my own?

When user searches for a search term with multiple words like "different fonts". How can I add highlighting to make the html string look like: <b>This</b> <i>string</i> <span style="background-color: rgb(212, 239, 181);">has</span> <span class="highlight"> <b>different</b> <i>fonts</i> </span>. Please note that the search term is treated as a single string as if the words are in a quote, so I cannot search and highlight each word individually.

    I'm trying to write a SQL query that satisfies multiple criteria. Of these, most are connected via a column, so joins are possible, however, some queries are such that I'd have to search additional tables for the information. What would be the least expensive and best way to do this? Let's say that we have a few tables. One table contains information such as sales information for a server: the salesperson, client id, service lease term, timestamps etc. It is possible that a client has multiple sales but with a different "service". I'd need to pick up all of the different ones. Another table has the quotes for the services, I'd need to pick some information out about this, whilst another, which could be joined to this one has some more information. Those tables are linked by a common client ID, so joins are possible, but I'd also need to search the first table for multiple instances of the client ID. Of course, I'd want to restrict the search to certain timestamps, which I can easily do as the timestamps are stored in MySQL format.

    i have some text box in a page and in the same page there will be a table 'grid' like for holding the search result. When the user start editing and of the textbox above, the search must start by sending all textboxs values to the server 'ajax', and get back with the results to fill the below grid. Notes: This grid should support paging, sorting by clicking on headers and it will contains some controls beside the results such as checkboxs for boolean values and links for opening details in another page. I know many ways to do this some of them are: 1- updatepanel around all of these controls and thats it "fast dirty solution" 2- send the search criteria using ajax request using JQuery post function for example and get back the JSON result, and using a template will draw the grid "clean but will take time to finish and will be harder to edit later". 3- .... My question is: What do you think will be the best choice to implement this scenario? because i face this scenario too much, and want to know which implementation will be better regarding performance, optimization, and time to finish. I just want to know your thoughts about this issue.

    Hi I'm building a very simple search system using ASP.NET MVC. I had it originally work by doing all the logic inside the controller but I am now moving the code piece by piece into a repository. Can anyone help me do this. Thanks.   • IE and Google Chrome timeout on an IIS6 hosted SSL page that Firefox handles well

    Ok, here's the scenario: Up until a few weeks ago, none of us noticed anything wrong with the corporate website. People were using it without complaint. Then, a client complained that a specific page on the site was timing out for him, and only when he committed a POST action on a form filled with data. I checked it out, and it timed out for me, too. But, it only timed out in Google Chrome and IE, not in Firefox. Additionally, the same page, on the same server, but served from a different domain name (one not under the protection of SSL, either) does not time out under any browser. To clarify: https://www.mysite.com/changes.php times out on POST, but the same with http works fine. That distinction (SSL vs. Non-SSL) seems to be important, as nothing else has changed. Our certificate is valid, and Firefox detects no errors thrown by the page. I've looked at the Request and Response headers from the page, and they all follow the correct formats. Then, after wandering through the site, I noticed a few other things. Both IE and Chrome will frequently time out on any page that is PHP-based. They never time out on static images or html files. I've looked at the site from a variety of different servers, my home and work workstations, and my netbook. Because of that, I've discounted a viral infection, as I highly doubt a virus is going to hit every one of the machines to which I have access in exactly the same manner. My setup is: Server: Win2k3, II6, PHP 5.2.9-1. Clients: IE7, IE8, Chrome (regular and dev channel): Frequent timeouts on PHP pages. Firefox 2, Firefox 3: No timeouts. Firebug shows no errors or even lengthy periods serving the pages. I've spent 2 days searching for any tech knowledge that I can find, and my search parameters are all too general. Everyone has problems loading SSL pages in IE and Chrome for a wide variety of reasons. The infrequent nature of the timeouts and the fact that there are no errors being reported anywhere is starting to drive me insane. Does anyone have any insight on a problem like this?

  • Perl Script to search and replace in .SQL query file with user inputs

    I have a .SQL file containing a large number of queries. They are being run against a database containing data for multiple states over multiple years. The machine I am running this on can only handle running the queries for one state, in one year, at a time. I am trying to create a Perl script that takes user input for the state abbreviation, the state id number, and the year. It then creates a directory for that state and year. Then it opens the "base" .SQL file and searches and replaces the base state id and year with the user input, and saves this new .SQL file to the created directory. The current script I have (below) stops at open(IN,'<$infile') with "Can't open [filename]" It seems that it is having difficulty finding or opening the .SQL file. I have quadruple-checked to make sure the paths are correct, and I have even tried replacing the $path with an absolute path for the base file.   • Index out of bounds error

    Hello, I am working on a program where i am recreating the saved widgets back on to the boundary panel. When i am creating them i am also trying to put the values into the ArrayList so that if i want to update and save the opened project i should be able to do so by getting the values from the ArrayList. Here is how the code looks like: for(int i = 0; i < result.length; i++){ if(ename.contains(result[i].getParticipateEntityName())){ ername.add(ename.indexOf(result[i].getParticipateEntityName()), result[i].getParticipateRelatioshipName()); etotalpartial.add(ename.indexOf(result[i].getParticipateEntityName()), result[i].getTotalPartial()); }else if(wename.contains(result[i].getParticipateEntityName())){ wrname.add(wename.indexOf(result[i].getParticipateEntityName()), result[i].getParticipateRelatioshipName()); } } Here ename, ername, etotalpartial, wename and wrname are all ArrayList. This piece of code is included in an asynchronous class method. When i run the code i get error at "ername.add(ename......".
