• Relaying requests between third party server and Heroku for static IP

  I have a rails application hosted on Heroku that I need to integrate with 3rd party payments provider. The payment provider requires that my application will have a static IP for incoming and outgoing HTTPS requests. I want to deploy a proxy on a Linode VPS so it can relay the information as a proxy. Relaying the request to the service provider seems easy, I just use their IP. Can I relay requests coming from the service provider to the heroku application? Can I realy the request using a URL (https://myapp.herokuapp.com) ? What is the recommended proxy server to use?

• Are there any home/soho NAS devices that will backup/sync to the cloud?

  Looking for a home office (SOHO) market (priced) network hard drive (NAS) that will sync some or all of its content to a cloud-based backup service. The only option I've been able to find so far is NetGear's [ReadyNAS Vault][1] however from what I've read it's not as secure as it could be, and the service is quite expensive ($200/yr for 50GB of cloud storage) - it's 'powered' by ElephantDrive Ideally would love to see something like Wuala integrated into a Lacie Network HDD - conveniently, I suspect this is in the works as Lacie recently acquired Wuala, however nothing has come of it yet. I know there are options to use rsync with a customizable NAS (such as the very versatile and hackable D-Link DNS-323, but the easier this is to setup and maintain, the better. Thanks! ps.   I am trying to map subdomain to amazon ec2 with elastic IP. I already mapped the www.xxxexample.com to my shared hosting by giving the dns server name (ns1.justhost.com). And I created a many subdomains using the cpanel of shared hosting. Shared hosting is working fine. Amazon route53 is a paid service. So I dont want to use that service. I want to map my subdomain points to amazon ec2 instance and main domain already primarily mapped to shared hosting. I tried from the below example, nothing worked for me, getting my domain name to point to my amazon ec2 instance Can anybody help me to get rid of this issue?? Thanks in advance.

  I'm developing a RESTful service. Here is a map of the current feature set: POST /api/document/file.jpg (creates the resource) GET /api/document/file.jpg (retrieves the resource) DELETE /api/document/file.jpg (removes the resource) So far, it does everything you might expect. I have a particular use case where I need to set up the browser to send a POST request using the multipart/form-data encoding for the document upload but when it is completed I want to redirect them back to the form. I know how to do a redirect, but I'm not certain about how the client and server should negotiate this behavior. Two approaches I'm considering: On the server check for the multipart/form-data encoding and, if present, redirect to the referrer when the request is complete. Add a service URI of /api/document/file.jpg/redirect to redirect to the referrer when the request is complete. I looked into setting an X header (X-myapp-redirect) but you can't tell the browser which headers to use like this. I manage the code for both the client and the server side so I'm flexible on solutions here. Is there a best practice to follow here?

If your music library is in a bit of a jumble with tags missing, oddly named files and incomplete albums, read on to see how easy it is to make it neat once and for all. MusicBrainz is an online database that uses audio “fingerprints” to identify music tracks even when they’re incorrectly labelled. We’ll be using this database through a free client called Picard, available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. So first thing, head on over to Picard’s download page and get the installer. If you use Linux, you can install Picard using your package manager. Once you finish going through the installer, run Picard. Your firewall might pop up an alert telling you Picard is trying to access the Internet; you should agree to let Picard through. You will now see the main Picard interface. • Apache won't start after creating symbolic link

  I'm installing apache for the first time and trying to display some webpages on localhost. Apache's default path for serving web pages is /var/www/html/ but I don't have permissions to write there. Rather than change ownership of the entire directory, I decided to get rid of the /html/ folder in /var/www/ and created it in my home directory. Then I made a symbolic link ln -s /home/me/html/ /var/www/ hoping Apache would serve web pages from my home directory while keeping the default path and following the symbolic link to my home directory. When I go to start the apache service with service httpd start I get Job failed. See system journal and 'systemctl status' for details.

  I am doing log shipping between two Amazon EC2 instances running Windows Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 R2 standard edition. Both the instances are in the same domain and I can access the shared folders between the instances. The SQL server service account, agent service account are all running under a domain account. When I activate log shipping (with stand by mode restore in secondary server), the initial backup gets restored on the secondary. After that the backup operation is getting failed and i get the following error message: *** Error: Could not retrieve backup settings for primary ID 'xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-4d772cd7337e'.(Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.LogShipping) *** *** Error: Failed to connect to server IP-0A7653F2.(Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) *** ****** Error: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.******** **The server was not found or was not accessible. • Authentication problem: can't bypass the login prompt when browsing to the SQL Reporing Services website

  I'm having a hard time configuring Reporting services on one of our servers. I'm not uninitiated in the domain of IIS7 but I cannot get rid of the login prompt when I'm surfing to the Reporting services website. What I did: I made a windows and SQL user with the same name: Then I choose Anonymous authentication in II7 and filled in the credentials of the specific R.S. user http://img32.imageshack.us/i/iis7auth.jpg/ I choose 'Local Service' as the service account in the R.S. configuration mgr http://img88.imageshack.us/i/rsconfigmgr.jpg/ The first problem is that there's always a pop-up when surfing to the website The second is that when I'm able to log in I get the message that the user doesn't have the appropriate permissions.   If you have large files in a content source that is being indexed by Sharepoint you might run into the following error message: “The file reached the maximum download limit. Check that the full text of the document can be meaningfully crawled.” This is usually caused because SharePoint’s MaxDownloadSize setting is set lower than the size of the file you are attempting to index. You can increase this value, restart the service then kick off a full crawl in order to fix this issue, but SharePoint 2007 and 2010 have different methods for accomplishing this task.   Sharepoint 2007 Open up the Registry editor and increase the MaxDownloadSize value to a number (in MB) higher than the largest file being indexed. You can find this at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Search\1.0\Gathering Manager After you increase the size, cycle the search service and kick off a full crawl of the content source in question.   Sharepoint 2010 With SharePoint 2010 you can use PowerShell via the Sharepoint 2010 Console in order to change the MaxDownloadSize. • How can I email a vCard to users who are unable to download it?

  I have created vCards for the people in my business, and they are great for users on standard browsers; however, users browsing on a mobile device (notably iPhone) are unable to download and view my vCard. Is there a service that I can direct them to that will allow them to receive an email containing my vCard, or is there a simple way I can set this up myself? I am running my site on WordPress, and initial attempts have failed spectacularly. I'd like for them to be given the option to perform either action, but have the predominant action more prominently visible (probably via user agent detection). Something along the lines of: It looks like you're on an iPhone! It's a bummer they can't download vCards, but if you enter your email address, we'll wrap one up and send it your way! Don't worry, we won't send you junk email. Heck, we don't even save your email address! [email protected] Think you've got it all figured out? Fine, download the vCard instead! • Please recommend a patterns book for iOS development

  I've read several books on iOS development and Objective-C, however what a lot of them teach is how to work with interfaces and all contain the model inside the view controller, i.e. a UITableViewController based view will simply have an NSArray as it's model. I'm interested in what the best practices are for designing the structure of an application. Specifically I'm interested in best practices for the following: How to separate a model from the view controller. I think I know how to do this by simply replacing the NSArray style example with a specific model object, however what I do not know how to do is alert the view when the model changes. For example in .NET I would solve this by conforming to INotifyPropertyChanged and databinding, and similarly with Java I would use PropertyChangeListener. How to create a service model for my domain objects. For example I want to learn the best way to create a service for a hypothetical Widget object to manage an internal DB and also services for communicating with remote endpoints. I need to learn the best ways to do this in a way that interface components can subscribe to events such as widgetUpdated. The Core iOS 6 Developer's Cookbook (4th edition Programming in Objective-C (5th Edition) I come from a Java and C# background with 15 years experience, I understand that many of the ways I would do things in these languages may not fit to the ObjC way of developing applications. Any guidance on the topic is very much appreciated.

• sharepoint administrative server not started causing sharepoint deployment instability

  When i deploy anything to a variety of sharepoint servers i get problems with some packages failing, from what i can see the only error given is as below. The timer job for this operation has been created, but it will fail because the administrative service for this server is not enabled. If the timer job is sched uled to run at a later time, you can run the jobs all at once using stsadm.exe - o execadmsvcjobs. To avoid this problem in the future, enable the Windows ShareP oint Services administrative service, or run your operation through the STSADM.e xe command line utility. Is this a known problem? I googled for the text but got only one other person with the problem who simply worked round it. I'm trying to batch deploy solutions programmatically and so these errors render the whole code worthless if you have to go back and redo bits by hand afterwards. Is batch deployment simply not possible? Thanks!

  So my company has over service through Verizon, and AT&T Service in the area is "shoddy" at its best, so i haven't been able to join the "iPhone party" like so many of my fellow SysAdmins have been able to. That being said, this week finally i phone i like has hit Verizon, the HTC Incredible. (I've been waiting for the Desire or Nexus One, but after seeing spec sheets and reviews, HTC Incredible comes out ahead anyway). • MySql #2002 problem

  when i try to login in apache i get #2002 error. when i try to login via terminal it ask my password mysql -u root and i get ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) i tried to remove mysql and install it again and nothing happen ( i cant even remove it) i try to reboot apache but still nothing. i tried to reboot my pc and of course still aint working. in terminal i put sudo start mysql i got this: start: Job failed to start mysql -ubob -hlocalhost -P3306 -p got me this ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) sudo service mysql stop gave me this stop: Unknown instance: my.cnf * Basic Settings # user = mysql pid-file = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid socket = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock port = 3306 basedir = /usr datadir = /var/lib/mysql tmpdir = /tmp lc-messages-dir = /usr/share/mysql skip-external-locking # i tried to find if there is a file in my /var/run/mysqld/ or in /var/tmp/ and dint find the file mysqld.sock .. i looked in /var/log/mysql/ and dont even have anything in it can help me???i try to find help on google for hours and dint help at all... -------EDIT---------- salem : sudo service mysql start i get start: Job failed to start cat /var/log/syslog | grep mysql here http://paste.ubuntu.com/1335984/ /var/run/mysqld/ this folder exist but it dosent have anything in it /var/run/mysqld/ i get total 0 drwxr-xr-x 2 mysql root 40 Nov 5 22:31 . drwxr-xr-x 25 root root 860 Nov 5 22:32 .. sorry that i post anything my terminal gives but i am noob at this. hope this information will do.
