  • A polygon creation program, adjacent face ignoring not working right. Any solutions?

    - by user292767
I'm working on a simple program that converts a 3d array into a polygon structure similar to voxels. It reads the array and creates cubes for positions with a value and checks adjacent directions (North, south, east, west,up,down) for a null value before setting up a cube's face. A link that displays the full code is below, written in GLBasic. Some snapshots to show you whats up. link text

  • Event triggering in server-side scripts

    - by Qiao
In SO, when your question got answer. or you got new badge, event is triggered. Or when you got new PM in forum, it also lets you know by alerting message. You see message that something happened with your account when you enter site for first time after this event. How is this implemented? How do scripts know, that they have something new to show you?

  • Rails logger messages test.log?

    - by Dave Paroulek
Is it possible to configure rails to show logger.debug messages (from logger.debug statements inside controllers) to display inside test.log (or to the console) when running unit and functional tests? I added the following to test_helper.rb. I see messages from logger.debug statements directly inside tests but no messages from logger statements inside controller methods? def logger RAILS_DEFAULT_LOGGER end

  • Can parser combination be made efficient?

    - by Jon Harrop
    Around 6 years ago, I benchmarked my own parser combinators in OCaml and found that they were ~5× slower than the parser generators on offer at the time. I recently revisited this subject and benchmarked Haskell's Parsec vs a simple hand-rolled precedence climbing parser written in F# and was surprised to find the F# to be 25× faster than the Haskell. Here's the Haskell code I used to read a large mathematical expression from file, parse and evaluate it: import Control.Applicative import Text.Parsec hiding ((<|>)) expr = chainl1 term ((+) <$ char '+' <|> (-) <$ char '-') term = chainl1 fact ((*) <$ char '*' <|> div <$ char '/') fact = read <$> many1 digit <|> char '(' *> expr <* char ')' eval :: String -> Int eval = either (error . show) id . parse expr "" . filter (/= ' ') main :: IO () main = do file <- readFile "expr" putStr $ show $ eval file putStr "\n" and here's my self-contained precedence climbing parser in F#: let rec (|Expr|) (P(f, xs)) = Expr(loop (' ', f, xs)) and shift oop f op (P(g, xs)) = let h, xs = loop (op, g, xs) loop (oop, f h, xs) and loop = function | ' ' as oop, f, ('+' | '-' as op)::P(g, xs) | (' ' | '+' | '-' as oop), f, ('*' | '/' as op)::P(g, xs) | oop, f, ('^' as op)::P(g, xs) -> let h, xs = loop (op, g, xs) let op = match op with | '+' -> (+) | '-' -> (-) | '*' -> (*) | '/' -> (/) | '^' -> pown loop (oop, op f h, xs) | _, f, xs -> f, xs and (|P|) = function | '-'::P(f, xs) -> let f, xs = loop ('~', f, xs) P(-f, xs) | '('::Expr(f, ')'::xs) -> P(f, xs) | c::xs when '0' <= c && c <= '9' -> P(int(string c), xs) My impression is that even state-of-the-art parser combinators waste a lot of time back tracking. Is that correct? If so, is it possible to write parser combinators that generate state machines to obtain competitive performance or is it necessary to use code generation?

  • Is there something like the OllyDbg / SoftICE disassembler + debugger for java?

    - by Ran Biron
Is there a utility similar to OllyDbg / SoftICE for java? I.e. execute class (from jar / with class path) and, without source code, show the disassembly of the intermediate code with ability to step through / step over / search for references / edit specific intermediate code in memory / apply edit to file... If not, is it even possible to write something like this (assuming we're willing to live without hotspot for the debug duration)?

  • Associated models in Rails?

    - by dannymcc
Hi Everyone, In my rails application I have two models called Kases and Notes. They work in the same way comments do with blog posts, I.e. each Kase entry can have multiple notes attached to it. I have got everything working, but for some reason I cannot get the destroy link to work for the Notes. I think I am overlooking something that is different with associated models to standard models. Notes Controller class NotesController < ApplicationController # POST /notes # POST /notes.xml def create @kase = Kase.find(params[:kase_id]) @note = @kase.notes.create!(params[:note]) respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to @kase } format.js end end end Kase Model class Kase < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :jobno has_many :notes Note Model class Note < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :kase end In the Kase show view I call a partial within /notes called _notes.html.erb: Kase Show View <div id="notes"> <h2>Notes</h2> <%= render :partial => @kase.notes %> <% form_for [@kase, Note.new] do |f| %> <p> <h3>Add a new note</h3> <%= f.text_field :body %><%= f.submit "Add Note" %> </p> <% end %> </div> /notes/_note.html.erb <% div_for note do %> <div id="sub-notes"> <p> <%= h(note.body) %><br /> <span style="font-size:smaller">Created <%= time_ago_in_words(note.created_at) %> ago on <%= note.created_at %></span> </p> <%= link_to "Remove Note", kase_path(@kase), :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete, :class => 'important' %> </div> <% end %> As you can see, I have a Remove Note destroy link, but that destroys the entire Kase the note is associated with. How do I make the destroy link remove only the note? <%= link_to "Remove Note", kase_path(@kase), :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete, :class => 'important' %> Any help would, as always, be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Danny

  • Intercepting touch events on activity and button on Android

    - by hgpc
I have an Android activity with an ImageButton. I would like to execute some logic when the button is clicked and show a different image for the pressed state, but also receive the touch event on the activity. By default only the button receives the touch event. If I set the clickable attribute of the button to false then only the activity receives the touch event. What's the best way to receive the touch event in both the activity and the button?

I am looking for an alternative options. Regards, Devara Gudda

  • How should Application.Run() be called for the main presenter of a MVP WinForms app?

    - by Mr Roys
I'm learning to apply MVP to a simple WinForms app (only one form) in C# and encountered an issue while creating the main presenter in static void Main(). Is it a good idea to expose a View from the Presenter in order to supply it as a parameter to Application.Run()? Currently, I've implemented an approach which allows me to not expose the View as a property of Presenter: static void Main() { IView view = new View(); Model model = new Model(); Presenter presenter = new Presenter(view, model); presenter.Start(); Application.Run(); } The Start and Stop methods in Presenter: public void Start() { view.Start(); } public void Stop() { view.Stop(); } The Start and Stop methods in View (a Windows Form): public void Start() { this.Show(); } public void Stop() { // only way to close a message loop called // via Application.Run(); without a Form parameter Application.Exit(); } The Application.Exit() call seems like an inelegant way to close the Form (and the application). The other alternative would be to expose the View as a public property of the Presenter in order to call Application.Run() with a Form parameter. static void Main() { IView view = new View(); Model model = new Model(); Presenter presenter = new Presenter(view, model); Application.Run(presenter.View); } The Start and Stop methods in Presenter remain the same. An additional property is added to return the View as a Form: public void Start() { view.Start(); } public void Stop() { view.Stop(); } // New property to return view as a Form for Application.Run(Form form); public System.Windows.Form View { get { return view as Form(); } } The Start and Stop methods in View (a Windows Form) would then be written as below: public void Start() { this.Show(); } public void Stop() { this.Close(); } Could anyone suggest which is the better approach and why? Or there even better ways to resolve this issue?

  • Adding jQueryui Buttons to dynamically added content

    - by Hippyjim
I have a list of items that have some jQueryUI buttons associated with them. After an action (deleting an item) I want to reload the list via ajax. Only problem is when I do so the JQueryUI buttons no longer show, just the standard markup. I know I can use jQuery.live() for dynamically adding click handlers etc, but how do I apply a jQueryUI button() to them?

  • jQuery slider vanishes after container div is toggled

    - by Shahar Evron
I have a page which contains a jQuery-UI horizontal slider, created using a little function, inside a DIV which can be displayed / hidden by clicking on it's title, using $.toggle(). Problem is, once the div is hidden, when it is expanded the slider is gone. A simplified demo of the problem can be seen here: http://arr.gr/jquery-issue.html (file contains all relevant source code) - when clicking the "Advanced Options" title to hide and then show the div, the slider is no longer there. Any suggestions on how to work around this?

  • Simple ASP.NET Database Query

    - by Steven
I have loaded my database with one table under "Data Connections" in the "Server Explorer" pane. What is the standard / best-practices way to handle a simple query in a VB ASPX page? My left <div> would be a set of form elements to filter rows, and when the button is clicked, the main <div> would show the columns I want for the rows returned. Note: Answers in C# are okay too, I'll just translate.
