  • User interface for addition/deletion of items to a list?

    I have a ban list that I'm building as part of an application that displays articles. This ban list will contain keywords, which if found in an article, would lead to the article disabled(the article will not be displayed on the front-end) I'm having a tough time visualizing the UI. I could always display a textarea and ask the user to enter keywords comma separated and when they want to delete again the textarea will be presented and they can edit the entered keywords. But I find my idea very unfriendly to the user. My question is how do I program the UI so that its easy to add new keywords. I also would like to be adviced on a nifty way showing the existing keywords and also deleting them. This ban list will be part of the admin panel/backend and will be accessible only to the site administrator.

    Hello, Please see: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like I successfully integrated a [Like] button in my website using this link. On the developers website, when I click the [Like] button, a popup appears telling this: You like this. Share it on Facebook with a comment... [ ] [Post to Facebook] [Cancel] On my website, there is no such popup. I tested both iframe and FBML versions. Does anyone has a solution, or is this feature only reserved for www.facebook.com ?   • Drop down selection not registered when form submitted quickly?!

    Hello all, I have noticed a strange thing that happens on my web app when the server is under heavy loads (I am remoting on to the Windows Server). I have a drop down box which is generated dynamically (server side). When I make a selection and quickly press the submit button to indicate my selection the next page does not register my selection but if I do it a bit more slowly it will. I have not come across this before, has anyone? I know its a small issue but there are a lot of "trigger happy", including me... should I put a delay before the form is submitted? If I do, I can only guess the right amount of time. Or is there an underlying problem with my web app? Thanks all

    How can I get the value to be displayed after the selection from the list is made, without the use of a button. I tried to implement an onChange event for the select list, and doing away with the button, but I can't get it to work.   • jQuery - Can someone help stitching jQuery code with .ajaxComplete()?

    Hi, so I've got this content loader that replaces content within a div with content from a separate page. But the content that arrives contains a menu that uses jQuery and this is not working. Someone told me I need to reinitialize the code. But how do I do that?     I'm looking to play a flash video hosted on a remote website. I've tried the following (and profuse google-ing): In source of page on http://fakesite1.com/player.jsp: <embed src = "FlashPlayer.swf?file=http://fakesite2.net/video.flv" /> I can browse to http://fakesite2.net/video.flv and ensure it's there, but the player comes back "movie not loaded" (on right-click) on fakesite1. My initial guess is that this might be some sort of security feature... is it possible to play a video hosted on a remote site?

    I have a bunch of 200X120 thumbnails and a bunch of high quality images, Apparently when I just resize the thumbnails with img size the quality suffers, so we are loading two images from the server the image thumbnail and the actual, I am just trying to optimize my site for speed a little saw someone mention embedding thumbs in the image, does anyone know a program that does that? Is this the best way to achieve my goal of high quality thumbnails?

  • Problems with viewing site in Internet Exploder

    I built a site and I'm just about finished. It displays properly in all the browsers I have (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) but my client is not computer savvy at all and still uses Internet Explorer, so that's all he's using to view the site. I don't have IE to test the site so I've been using BrowserStack.com and I see in IE that the site is broken. The navigation bar has a white background and is pushed down a line, and the logo isn't appearing.   • CSS - How to prevent the browser from showing scrollbars when a div goes outside of the window?

    I have a centered wrapper with following CSS: div.wrapper { width: 1170px; padding-left:30px; margin-top: 80px; margin-bottom:20px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; position:relative; background-color:black; } inside i have a div with following css: position:absolute; top:-26px; left:517px; height:63px; z-index:3; inside of this div is an image which has 759px width, that makes the wrapper grow larger and makes the browser show a v-scrollbar on lower display resolutions. what i want is to make the image go outside the wrapper but prevent the browser from showing the scrollbar, so that the right side of the image is only shown if your browser window is large enough and the wrapper keeps its 1200px width. i can't make it a background image because it goes over some of the other content. something that is compatible with = IE7 would be nice

    I have a drop down menu that I want to have selected on page load. This is what I'm using at the moment: var selector = document.getElementById("action_person").firstChild; var n = 0; while(selector.options[n] != null) { if(selector.options[n].value == "person") { selector.options.selectedIndex = n; } n++; } I've also tried replacing selector.options.selectedIndex = n with selector.options[n].selected = true. However, it never selects for me. It always shows the item at the top of the drop down. I've verified that the value "person" does exist in the drop down, and that the variable "selector" does point to a valid drop down. What am I doing wrong here?

    I'm having problems in IE6 and 7 with a div that doesn't complete the bottom padding that is attributed to it, so doesn't appear to finish the div down to the white content area like required. Sorry, I forgot to add the "empty" part, I am actually already using the *:empty selector, but it's not working for any tag that has a nodeText as a child. So it's working for any input, image, object, but not for h2, h1, or any p.

I want the lime colored border to go totally around the white central area without increasing the height of the ft or hd divs. How do I achieve that?     Hi Stackoverflow, I'm building a website where I'm using jQuery to animate a horizontal tabbed menu. What I want to achieve can be seen here: / link removed / If you hover/mouseover the "Link 1" tab, you'll see that a white div is expanding. Each of the tab menu items are a styled li-tag. What I want to do is, that when you hover/mouseover i.e. the "Link 2" tab, the white div contracts and then expands again with content related to "Link 2" instead of "Link 1". Also, the "Link 1" tab should be expanded by default (i.e. when you just entered the site) Does any of you jQuery ninjas out there know how to do this?
