• Get ant concat to ignore BOM's'?

  I have an ant build that concatenates my javascript into one file and then compresses it. The problem is that Visual Studio's default encoding attaches a BOM to every file. How do I configure ant to strip out BOM's that would otherwise appear in the middle of the resulting concatenated file?   i´m having trouble getting i18n to work on heroku. i set: I18n.default_locale = :de in my environment.rb and the translation is in config/locales/de.yml works perfect on my local machines but not so on heroku. on heroku everything is in english. i don´t think i need a special gem like i18n gem, cause i don´t have it on my local machine either. maybe anyone has a solution to this?

  I've been given the task of doing maintenance to a iOS application that uses OCMapView. I have just realized that when using the application in chinese language, it blows up when the selector doClustering is invoked on a OCMapView instance. This is for me a very puzzling behaviour, because I thought that regardless of the environment language, the OCMapView class should allways have the same methods. Am I wrong?   Hello, after reading through a couple similar Qs/As I haven't quite found the solution I'm looking for. The table data I have is GROUP BY DATE(timestamp) and returning a count, example result: [timestamp] = 2010-05-12 20:18:36 [count] = 10 [timestamp] = 2010-05-14 10:10:10 [count] = 8 Without using a temporary table, or calendar table is there a way to fill in those missing dates? so that with the same table data would return (adding the bold row): [timestamp] = 2010-05-12 20:18:36 [count] = 10 [timestamp] = 2010-05-13 00:00:00 [count] = 0 [timestamp] = 2010-05-14 10:10:10 [count] = 8 Thanks!

  What if I have ChangePassword form with hidden ID field of the user. BadPerson knows id of GoodPerson. He opens Change Password form with FireBug, changes his Id to GoodPerson's Id, so password changes for GoodPerson. Of course I can create some server logic that will prevent this, but I think there should be some out of the box solution, wich throws if hidden field been changed, wich I don't know.   I have UserControls in a Controls folder in my solution: /Controls/TheControl.ascx If specify the following: <a runat="server" href="./?pg=1">link text</a> ASP.Net seems to want to rewrite the path to point to the absolute location. For example, If the control is on site.com/products/fish/cans.aspx the link href will be rewritten to read <a href="../../Controls/?pg=1 Why does Asp.Net rewrite these control paths, and is there an elegant way to fix it?

  I need to visualize a text into a delimited space. If I add a simple TextBlock I have a problem: when the text is longer than the available space, it is cropped at the end. I tried to insert the TextBlock inside a Viewbox: this solution works for a text longer than the available space, but increase the size of the text when it is shorter. Is there a way to reduce the size of the text only when it is longer than the available space?

  There are times that I automagically create small shell scripts from Python, and I want to make sure that the filename arguments do not contain non-escaped special characters. I've rolled my own solution, that I will provide as an answer, but I am almost certain I've seen such a function lost somewhere in the standard library.
