• Representing parent-child relationships in SharePoint lists

  I need to create some functionality in our SharePoint app that populates a list or lists with some simple hierarchical data. Each parent record will represent a "submission" and each child record will be a "submission item." There's a 1-to-n relationship between submissions and submission items. Is this practical to do in SharePoint? The only types of list relationships I've done so far are lookup columns, but this seems a bit different. Also, once such a list relationship is established, then what's the best way to create views on this kind of data. I'm almost convinced that it'd be easier just to write this stuff to an external database, but I'd like to give SharePoint a shot in order to take advantage of the automated search capabilities.

  I have a form that is showing a MessageBox using MessageBox.Show, and trying to receive events from the Help button on the MessageBox so I can execute my own code. The Microsoft documentation shows how to do this; however, using what is suggested does not work.   Is it possible to provide the following type of fuctionality with informix client tools? As the user types the first two characters of a name, the drop-down list is empty. At the third character, the list fills with just the names beginning with those three characters. At the fourth character, MS-Access completes the first matching name (assuming the combo's AutoExpand is on). Once enough characters are typed to identify the customer, the user tabs to the next field. The time taken to load the combo between keystrokes is minimal. This occurs once only for each entry, unless the user backspaces through the first three characters again. If your list still contains too many records, you can reduce them by another order of magnitude by changing the value of constant conSuburbMin from 3 to 4.

  I'm trying to remove the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (x64). It says it's uninstalled when I try to remove it from Control Panel->Programs and Features, but the list item is still there, and if I try to remove it again, it brings up the prompt to install it. How do I get rid of this program completely (or at least remove it from the add/remove list)? I don't have Microsoft Office installed (or Visual Studio).

  There is one server with multiple clients. The clients are viewing subsets of the servers entire data. If the data that a client is viewing changes, the client should be informed of the changes so that it displays the current data. Example: Two clients are viewing a list of users in an administration screen. One client adds a new user to the list and modifies the permissions of another user. The other client sees the changes propagated to their view. In the client side code I would like the users list to be updated by the framework itself, raising changed events such that it will be redrawn - similar to 'cells' or dataflow. I am looking specifically for a .NET or java implementation.

So I'm definately going to brush up on that. I remember for a previous job interview, I was asked Java questions, like not super intricate, but detailed stuff. Now I'm looking for a book maybe that I can read through in a day (or two) and known all the crannies of C#, ASP.NET and JavaScript. • Why are these strings escaping from my regular expression in python?

Various Artists - Indie Rock Playlist October 2008.pls'] I can't understand what's going on, why are those two specifically escaping my search.

• Is there an open source repository for SQL code?

  I find myself writing SQL code (queries or stored procs) to solve problems that can definitely be defined as 'patterns' that occur frequently in business. Rather than having to wrack my brain each time I encounter a new problem (which must have been solved a countless times by other coders/db analysts, I wondered if there was a repository I could go to check out (peer reviewed) code - and maybe add my two pence every now and then. I know different db vendors tend to write slightly variant forms of SQL - but there could still be a repository with ANSI stuff and proprietary stuff. Hopefully, such a site would encourage more people to write standardized SQL. Is there such a site?. If no - why not? (would anyone else be interested in such a site?) If such a site exists, please provide link(s), as Google is not finding anything remotely useful.

OK so I have the String lines that has 4 escaped quotation marks and I wish to replace the first quote with a quote and the end quote with a quote how would I accomplish this without replacing any of the inner quotes?

• When does an ASP.NET Website project recompile?

The reason I'm asking is because we don't want users to lose their sessions. So we want to update the live website with recompile changes in the very wee hours of the morning, but would prefer to make changes during the day to expedite them. • Problem with Refreshing data in ExpandableListView

  Hi! My problem is when I want to refresh data in ExpandableListView while being in that current activity. I create adapter and when I want to add new data to list I call again constructor of that adapter(it is my private variable) with all new data....and then I call onContentChanged() method to redraw my list. But what happens is that I cant expand my list any more...like it is blocked or something and logcat isn't saying anything...   It took me hours to figure out how to implement a timer into my program, but when it runs, the app doesn't load completely as it did before the timer. • Copying info from the device manager to the clipboard

  I have a Logitech webcam, which I can plug into my Windows XP machine via USB. When I open the Device Manager, I can select the webcam and choose Properties--Driver--Driver Details. This gives me the following list of driver filenames: C:\Program Files\Common Files\logishrd\WUApp32.exe [25 more filenames...] C:\WINDOWS\TWAIN_32\QuickCam\reset.wav My question is, is there any way to copy this list to the clipboard? Copying it by hand is a drag.

  Say I had a class SuperClass and two subclasses SubClassA and SubClassB that inherit from SuperClass. abstract class SuperClass{ ... List someList; ... } class SubClassA extends SuperClass{ ... List<String> someList; ... } class SubClassB extends SuperClass{ ... List<Integer> someList; ... } That way it is convenient because I can get someList.size() in Superclass and have Typesafety in the Subclasses. The problem is that it does not "feel" right, can you think of potential hazards this apporach has that I am not aware of?

• Javascript function programming — receiving elaborate parameters

  I'm writing a Javascript function that would manipulate an array written on-the-fly and sent as a parameter. The function is written as follows: function returnJourney(animation,clean){ var properties = {}; // loads of other inane stuff for(i in animation[0]) properties[animation[0][i]] = animation[0].i; // heaps more inane stuff } The animation in question is a set of parameters for a jQuery animation. Typically it takes the format of ({key:value,key:value},speedAsInteger,modifierAsString). So to kick off initial debugging I call it with: returnJouney(({'foo':'bar'},3000),1); And straight off the bat things are way off. As far as I see it this would have returnJourney acknowledge clean === 1, and animation being an array with an object as its first child and the number 3000 as its second. Firebug tells me animation evaluates as the number 3000. What am I doing wrong?
