    Hey, I want to write a program that outputs a list of libraries that I should link to given source code (or object) files (for C or C++ programs). In *nix, there are useful tools such as sdl-config and llvm-config. But, I want my program to work on Windows, too. Usage: get-library-names -l /path/to/lib a.cpp b.cpp c.cpp d.obj Then, get-library-names would get a list of function names that are invoked from a.cpp, b.cpp, c.cpp, and d.obj. And, it'll search all library files in /path/to/lib directory and list libraries that are needed to link properly. Is there such tool already written? Is it not trivial to write a such tool? How do you find what libraries you should link to? Thanks.

  • What's the best way to use hamcrest-AS3 to test for membership in an IList?

    I'm using Flex 3.3, with hamcrest-as3 used to test for item membership in a list as part of my unit tests: var myList: IList = new ArrayCollection(['a', 'b', 'c']).list; assertThat(myList, hasItems('a', 'b', 'c')); The problem is that apparently the IList class doesn't support for each iteration; for example, with the above list, this will not trace anything: for each (var i: * in myList) { trace (i); } However, tracing either an Array or an ArrayCollection containing the same data will work just fine. What I want to do is (without having to tear apart my existing IList-based interface) be able to treat an IList like an Array or an ArrayCollection for the purposes of testing, because that's what hamcrest does: override public function matches(collection:Object):Boolean { for each (var item:Object in collection) { if (_elementMatcher.matches(item)) { return true; } } return false; } Is this simply doomed to failure? As a side note, why would the IList interface not be amenable to iteration this way? That just seems wrong.

  • How can I map a String to a function in Java?

    Currently, I have a bunch of Java classes that implement a Processor interface, meaning they all have a processRequest(String key) method. The idea is that each class has a few (say, <10) member Strings, and each of those maps to a method in that class via the processRequest method, like so: class FooProcessor implements Processor { String key1 = "abc"; String key2 = "def"; String key3 = "ghi"; // and so on... String processRequest(String key) { String toReturn = null; if (key1.equals(key)) toReturn = method1(); else if (key2.equals(key)) toReturn = method2(); else if (key3.equals(key)) toReturn = method3(); // and so on... return toReturn; } String method1() { // do stuff } String method2() { // do other stuff } String method3() { // do other other stuff } // and so on... } You get the idea. This was working fine for me, but now I need a runtime-accessible mapping from key to function; not every function actually returns a String (some return void) and I need to dynamically access the return type (using reflection) of each function in each class that there's a key for. I already have a manager that knows about all the keys, but not the mapping from key to function. My first instinct was to replace this mapping using if-else statements with a Map<String, Function>, like I could do in Javascript. But, Java doesn't support first-class functions so I'm out of luck there. I could probably dig up a third-party library that lets me work with first-class functions, but I haven't seen any yet, and I doubt that I need an entire new library. I also thought of putting these String keys into an array and using reflection to invoke the methods by name, but I see two downsides to this method: My keys would have to be named the same as the method - or be named in a particular, consistent way so that it's easy to map them to the method name. This seems WAY slower than the if-else statements I have right now. Efficiency is something of a concern because these methods will tend to get called pretty frequently, and I want to minimize unnecessary overhead. TL; DR: I'm looking for a clean, minimal-overhead way to map a String to some sort of a Function object that I can invoke and call (something like) getReturnType() on. I don't especially mind using a 3rd-party library if it really fits my needs. I also don't mind using reflection, though I would strongly prefer to avoid using reflection every single time I do a method lookup - maybe using some caching strategy that combines the Map with reflection. Thoughts on a good way to get what I want? Cheers!

    Let's assume we have two collections: List<double> values List<SomePoint> points where SomePoint is a type containing three coordinates of the point: SomePoint { double X; double Y; double Z; } Now, I would like to perform the intersection between these two collections to find out for which points in points the z coordinate is eqal to one of the elements of values I created something like that: HashSet<double> hash = new HashSet<double>(points.Select(p=>p.Z)); hash.IntersectWith(values); var result = new List<SomePoints>(); foreach(var h in hash) result.Add(points.Find(p => p.Z == h)); But it won't return these points for which there is the same Z value, but different X and Y. Is there any better way to do it?

My problem is following: I would like to create a bash script with read the active contacts names from the file and compare it with the directories. If the directory name wouldn't be found on the list, it would be moved to another directory (let's call it "archive").     I have a this table, where I store multiple ids and an age range (def1,def2) CREATE TABLE "template_requirements" ("_id" INTEGER NOT NULL, "templateid" INTEGER, "def1" VARCHAR(255), "def2" VARCHAR(255), PRIMARY KEY("_id")) Having values such as: templateid | def1 | def2 100 | 7 | 25 200 | 40 | 90 300 | 7 | 25 300 | 40 | 60 as you see for templateid 300 we have an or logic: age between 7 and 25 or age between 40 and 60. I want to get all the template ids that are not for a certain age like 25... What's the problem? If I run a query like this one: SELECT group_concat(templateid) FROM template_requirements where and '25' not between cast(def1 as integer) and cast(def2 as integer) it returns 200, 300, which is wrong, as the 300 matched on row 40 to 60, but shouldn't be included in the result as we have a condition with same templateid 7 to 25 that fails the not beetween stuff. How would be the correct query in SQLite, I would like to keep the group_concat stuff.

    I keep getting an uncaught syntex error which I know usually means your code has a missing closing something. I keep failing to see what it is that I am missing. The idea of the function is that it extracts the a links ID and Text content and add's it to an un-ordered list. The links have a class of 'ingredient_add' and the unordered list has an ID of 'ingredientsAdded'.   • In Python, is there a way to call a method on every item of an iterable? [closed]

    Possible Duplicate: Is there a map without result in python? I often come to a situation in my programs when I want to quickly/efficiently call an in-place method on each of the items contained by an iterable. (Quickly meaning the overhead of a for loop is unacceptable). A good example would be a list of sprites when I want to call draw() on each of the Sprite objects. I know I can do something like this: [sprite.draw() for sprite in sprite_list] But I feel like the list comprehension is misused since I'm not using the returned list. The same goes for the map function. Stone me for premature optimization, but I also don't want the overhead of the return value. What I want to know is if there's a method in Python that lets me do what I just explained, perhaps like the hypothetical function I suggest below: do_all(sprite_list, draw)

    I have a large directory tree of files, and am using the following script to list and replace a searched-for name with a specific file. Problem is, I don't know how to write the createList() for-loop correctly to account for whitespace in a directory name. If all directories don't have spaces, it works fine. Currently I am displaying all the events in form of list from the file, As the file contains out dated events as well but I want to display on the basis of today's date events and a week events then week after. So I understand that there isn't a freely available version of the server adapter for WAS 6.1/7.0, so by now I have been doing a lot of stuff manually, but I'm wondering (after getting tired of this), what is doing other people using Eclipse + WAS6.1/7.0? Are you also doing stuff manually? Have you find an alternative to make things easier when working with Eclipse and you want to deploy or interact with WAS? (I know some of you will say: create your Ant scripts and run them from Eclipse... that's not what I want, I already have that). Currently I'm using Eclipse 3.5 (aka Galileo). Thanks.

    Simple question, but tricky answer I guess. Does using Generic Interfaces hurts performance? Example: public interface Stuff<T> { void hello(T var); } vs public interface Stuff { void hello(Integer var); <---- Integer used just as an example } My first thought is that it doesn't. Generics are just part of the language and the compiler will optimize it as though there were no generics (at least in this particular case of generic interfaces). Is this correct?

So I have a list of interests, a list of users, and a list of user interests. I want the query to return all interests, whether the user has the interest or not (should be null in that case), only where the user = x. Every time I get the query working its only matching interests that the user specifically has, instead of all interests whether they have it or not.

    I have a custom Order class, groups of which are stored in List<Order> and a DataGridView. I think the problem is in my implementation so here's how I'm using it: In the form enclosing DataGridView (as OrdersDataGrid): public partial class MainForm : Form { public static List<Order> Orders; public MainForm() { // code to populate Orders with values, otherwise sets Orders to new List<Order>(); OrdersDataGrid.DataSource = Orders; } Then in another form that adds an Order: // Save event public void Save(object sender, EventArgs e) { Order order = BuildOrder(); // method that constructs an order object from form data MainForm.Orders.Add(order); } From what I can tell from the console this is added successfully. I thought the DataGrid would be updated automatically after this since Orders has changed - is there something I'm missing? The DataGrid accepts the class since it generates columns from the members.
