• Compare two String with MySQL

  Hi, I wan't to compare two strings in a SQL request so I can retrieve the best match, the aim is to propose to an operator the best zip code possible. For example, in France, we have Integer Zip code, so I made an easy request : SELECT * FROM myTable ORDER BY abs(zip_code - 75000) This request returns first the data closest of Paris. Unfortunatelly, United Kingdom have zip code like AB421RS, so my request can't do it. I see in SQL Server a function 'Difference' : http://www.java2s.com/Code/SQLServer/String-Functions/DIFFERENCEworkoutwhenonestringsoundssimilartoanotherstring.htm But I use MySQL.. Is there anyone who have a good idea to do the trick in one simple request ? PS : the Levenshtein Distance will not do it, as I really wan't to compare string like if they were number. ABCDEF have to be closer to AWXYZ than to ZBCDEF.

  I have a many-to-many relationship between two tables, let's say Friends and Foods. If a friend likes a food I stick a row into the FriendsFoods table, like this: ID Friend Food 1 'Tom' 'Pizza' FriendsFoods has a Primary Key 'ID', and two non-null foreign keys 'Friend' and 'Food' to the 'Friends' and 'Foods' tables, respectively. Now suppose I have a Friend tom .NET object corresponding to 'Tom', and Tom no longer likes pizza (what is wrong with him?) FriendsFoods ff = tblFriendsFoods.Where(x => x.Friend.Name == 'Tom' && x.Food.Name == 'Pizza').Single(); tom.FriendsFoods.Remove(ff); pizza.FriendsFoods.Remove(ff); If I try to SubmitChanges() on the DataContext, I get an exception because it attempts to insert a null into the Friend and Food columns in the FriendsFoods table. I'm sure I can put together some kind of convoluted logic to track changes to the FriendsFoods table, intercept SubmitChanges() calls, etc to try and get this to work the way I want, but is there a nice, clean way to remove a Many-To-Many relationship with LINQ-To-SQL?

The above mentioned leak increases if i increase the amount of signal and slot connections? Can anybody help with this?

  I am currently working on a project related to Websphere Portal 7.0 on Windows Server 2008 R2,64 bit. I am trying to integrate websphere portal with my custom user registry.I have completed all the steps required to implement custom user registry in portal as given in IBM documentation.I am adding my custom repository to the default federated repositories of Portal 7.0.I have made the required changes under VMM Federated CUR Properties section in wkplc.properties.I am using configengine.bat file to configure Portal with user registry. But even completing all the steps,when I am trying to open the Portal Login Page through http://ip-address:port_of_portal/wps/portal ,it is throwing an exception on the console: "Error 500: com.ibm.wps.resolver.data.exceptions.URIProcessingIOException: EJCBD0021E: The URI dav:fs-type1/themes/PageBuilder2/theme.html and parameters [['themeURI'=, 'mime-type'= could not be processed: [EJCBD0021E: The URI dav:fs-type1/themes/PageBuilder2/theme.html and parameters [['themeURI'=, 'mime-type'= could not be processed: EJPSG0002E: Requested Member does not exist.uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm/null] " and in logs Systemout.log "EJPSB0005E: Exception occurred during creation of the principal with Name uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm and Principal Type USER caused by com.ibm.portal.puma.MemberNotFoundException: EJPSG0002E: Requested Member does not exist.uid=portal,o=defaultWIMFileBasedRealm/null".   A little question regarding performance in a Java web app. Let's assume I have a List<Rubrique> listRubriques with ten Rubrique objects. A Rubrique contains one list of products (List<product> listProducts) and one list of clients (List<Client> listClients). What exactly happens in memory if I do this: listRubriques.clear(); listRubriques = null; My point of view would be that, since listRubriques is empty, all my objects previously referenced by this list (including listProducts and listClients) will be garbage collected pretty soon. But since Collection in Java are a little bit tricky and since I have quite performance issues with my app i'm asking the question :) edit : let's assume now that my Client object contains a List<Client>. Therefore, I have kind of a circular reference between my objects. What would happen then if my listRubrique is set to null? This time, my point of view would be that my Client objects will become "unreachable" and might create a memory leak?

  Hi, I'm trying to use a temporary tables to store some values I need for a query. The reason of using a temporary table is that I don't want to store the data permanently so different users can modify it at the same time. That data is just stored for a second, so I think a temporary table is the best approach for this. The thing is that it seems that the way I'm trying to use it is not right (the query works if I use a permanent one). Now here is where I am thinking that it might be a reverse DNS setup thing on my windows server 2008 issue + some company mails, it becomes spam, i had same issue with hotmail but that was solved when I added the plain. • Shopify JSONP issue in ajaxAPI

  I'm getting some odd response back from shopify ajaxapi for jsonp. If you cURL a Shopify ajax api location http://storename.domain.com/cart.json?callback=handler you will get a jsonp response. But something is breaking the same request in browsers. It appears to be related to compression? Here are some responses from each browser when attempting to call the jsonp as documented. Firefox: The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.   Ok, I didn't want a bunch of ICommands in my MVVM ViewModels so I decided to create a MarkupExtension for WPF that you feed it a string(the name of the method), and it gives you back an ICommand that executes the method. here's a snippet: public class MethodCall : MarkupExtension { public MethodCall(string methodName) { MethodName = methodName; CanExecute = "Can" + methodName; } public override object ProvideValue(IServiceProvider serviceProvider) { Binding bin= new Binding { Converter = new MethodConverter(MethodName,CanExecute) }; return bin.ProvideValue(serviceProvider); } } public class MethodConverter : IValueConverter { string MethodName; public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { //Convert to ICommand ICommand cmd = ConvertToICommand(); if (cmd == null) Debug.WriteLine(string.Format("Could not bind to method 'MyMethod' on object",MethodName)); return cmd; } } It works great, except when the binding fails(e.g. you mistype). When you do this in xaml: {Binding MyPropertyName} you see in the output window whenever the binding fails. and it tells you the propertyName the Type name etc. The MethodConverter Class can tell you the name of the method that failed, but it can't tell you the source object type. Because the value will be null. I can't figure out how to store the source object type so for the following class public class MyClass { public void MyMethod() { } } and the following xaml: <Button Command={d:MethodCall MyMethod}>My Method</Button> It currently says: "Could not bind to method 'MyMethod' on object but I would like it to say: "Could not bind to method 'MyMethod' on object MyClass Any ideas?

While my activity works in the Android emulator, running the same code in a unit test doesn't update my adapter: calls to sendEmptyMessage do not call handleMessage in my activity's Handler. How do I get my ActivityUnitTestCase to sync with the MessageQueue thread and call my Handler? • Programmatically Add Controls to WPF Form

  I am trying to add controls to a UserControl dynamically (programatically). I get a generic List of objects from my Business Layer (retrieved from the database), and for each object, I want to add a Label, and a TextBox to the WPF UserControl and set the Position and widths to make look nice, and hopefully take advantage of the WPF Validation capabilities. This is something that would be easy in Windows Forms programming but I'm new to WPF. • Why does Clojure hang after hacing performed my calculations?

  Hi all, I'm experimenting with filtering through elements in parallel. For each element, I need to perform a distance calculation to see if it is close enough to a target point. Never mind that data structures already exist for doing this, I'm just doing initial experiments for now. Anyway, I wanted to run some very basic experiments where I generate random vectors and filter them. Here's my implementation that does all of this (defn pfilter [pred coll] (map second (filter first (pmap (fn [item] [(pred item) item]) coll)))) (defn random-n-vector [n] (take n (repeatedly rand))) (defn distance [u v] (Math/sqrt (reduce + (map #(Math/pow (- %1 %2) 2) u v)))) (defn -main [& args] (let [[n-str vectors-str threshold-str] args n (Integer/parseInt n-str) vectors (Integer/parseInt vectors-str) threshold (Double/parseDouble threshold-str) random-vector (partial random-n-vector n) u (random-vector)] (time (println n vectors (count (pfilter (fn [v] (< (distance u v) threshold)) (take vectors (repeatedly random-vector)))))))) The code executes and returns what I expect, that is the parameter n (length of vectors), vectors (the number of vectors) and the number of vectors that are closer than a threshold to the target vector. What I don't understand is why the programs hangs for an additional minute before terminating. Here is the output of a run which demonstrates the error $ time lein run 10 100000 1.0 [null] 10 100000 12283 [null] "Elapsed time: 3300.856 msecs" real 1m6.336s user 0m7.204s sys 0m1.495s Any comments on how to filter in parallel in general are also more than welcome, as I haven't yet confirmed that pfilter actually works.

I've been able to hack up a solution using an equivalent to 'DoEvents', but is there a better way to do this?   I have always wondered why you cannot use locally defined classes as predicates to STL algorithms. • Problem with Binding Multiple Objects on WPF

  Hi, I'm developing a user control called SearchBox, that will act as a replacer for ComboBox for multiple records, as the performance in ComboBox is low for this scenario, but I'm having a big binding problem. I have a base control with a DependencyProperty called SelectedItem, and my SearchControl shows that control so that the user can select the record. The SearchControl also has a DependencyProperty called SelectedItem on it, and it is being updated when the user selects something on the base control, but the UI, wich has the SearchControl, is not being updated. I used a null converter so that I could see if the property was updating, but it's not.   hi, yesterday i posted a question regarding the Exception Handling technique, but i did'nt quite get a precise answer, partly because my question must not have been precise. So i will ask it more precisely. There is a method in my BLL for authenticating user. If a user is authenticated it returns me the instance of the User class which i store in the session object for further references. the method looks something like this... public static UsersEnt LoadUserInfo(string email) { SqlDataReader reader = null; UsersEnt user = null; using (ConnectionManager cm = new ConnectionManager()) { SqlParameter[] parameters = new SqlParameter[1]; parameters[0] = new SqlParameter("@Email", email); try { reader = SQLHelper.ExecuteReader(cm.Connection, "sp_LoadUserInfo", parameters); } catch (SqlException ex) { //this gives me a error object } if (reader.Read()) user = new UsersDF(reader); } return user; } now my problem is suppose if the SP does not exist, then it will throw me an error or any other SQLException for that matter. Since this method is being called from my aspx.cs page i want to return some meaning full message as to what could have gone wrong so that the user understands that there was some problem and that he/she should retry logging-in again. but i can't because the method returns an instance of the User class, so how can i return a message instead ?? i hope i made it clear ! thank you.

• C# Reflection StackTrace get value

  I'm making pretty heavy use of reflection in my current project to greatly simplify communication between my controllers and the wcf services. What I want to do now is to obtain a value from the Session within an object that has no direct access to HttpSessionStateBase (IE: Not a controller). For example, a ViewModel. I could pass it in or pass a reference to it etc. but that is not optimal in my situation. Since everything comes from a Controller at some point in my scenario I can do the following to walk the sack to the controller where the call originated, pretty simple stuff: var trace = new System.Diagnostics.StackTrace(); foreach (var frame in trace.GetFrames()) { var type = frame.GetMethod().DeclaringType; var prop = type.GetProperty("Session"); if(prop != null) { // not sure about this part... var value = prop.GetValue(type, null); break; } } The trouble here is that I can't seem to work out how to get the "instance" of the controller or the Session property so that I can read from it.
