• Offline Files (CSC) on Windows RT

  Windows RT does not have the Offline Files service. The Sync Center is also gone. Can it be enabled somehow? or can anyone recommend a replacement? My options are very limited on Windows 8.1 RT. The only thing it seems Microsoft is offering is something called Work Folders. These are only supported in Windows 8.1. I really want a more generic solution so that I can access files on OS X and Linux (like a samba share).

• Outlook.com custom domain, Exchange ActiveSync too many connected devices

  I just setup Outlook.com to run on a custom domain. The web interface works well but when I connect it to Outlook 2013 I get the following error: There are too many devices syncing with this account. To sync using Outlook, try removing another device that is connected with this account such as a phone or another computer. File: outlook\pstprx\storeas\utils\airsyncstatuscodes.h Line: 88 HTTP/1.1 200 OK FolderStatus: 177 To re-try press F9... Error Code: 0x80004005 I've done my home work, using Google, and found that it is often due to having 3 or 4 devices connected to an account with 50+ folders. My account is empty, no email or folder, and is not synced with any devices, I confirmed that on http://devices.live.com. I'm out of option, any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

  My question is quite simple. I get this output when checking the total amount of space I'm using on my Walkman. david@Milton:/media$ du -b --max-depth=0 WALKMAN/ 14823290693 WALKMAN/ david@Milton:/media$ du -k --max-depth=0 WALKMAN/ 14523776 WALKMAN/ Last I checked, 14,523,776 KB * 1024 = 14,872,646,624 B, not 14,823,290,693. Dividing the two, their "K" unit seems to be equal to about 1020.62 rather than 1024 as advertised. This is causing some errors in the program I wrote to sync my Walkman, so it fills up faster than it claims to. Can anyone explain this discrepency?

  I've just built a new PostgreSQL server for my employers, which is happily replicating using WALs. I'm now left with the problem of verifying its performance. One nice way which came up in conversation is to break replication with the slave caught up and then direct all production traffic to both servers, discarding the responses from the new server and returning those from the current one to the clients. Once we're sure performance is OK, we re-sync the slave and can fail over with confidence. Bliss. This would require a TCP proxy capable of opening two outgoing connections for each incoming one, and discarding the data returned from one of them, which is a tricky thing to google for, it seems. Do the assembled brains know of such a thing, before I dive into libevent and write one?

  As a Software Engineer we had a lot of discussion on SE design. Although we sync every document on the development process on Google Doc, mind map just didn’t fit in Google doc yet. The best we can do is to store a copy and share it online. To me, Mind map is an ir-replaceable piece of tools (yet) as agile note taking tools.   I'm a CS uni student in a country with limited bandwidth, and I find that I download files (particularly install files) for reuse\reinstallation\giving to my friends.. I've kept these files in different folders, and now find it extremely hard to find them, and keeping track of obselete files (the almost weekly releases of iTunes versions, or latest 7zip release or the .Net framework installers). What I would like to find is a file manager that could support tags, so instead of hierachical folders, i could find\view files according to their tags...

• Backup Client/Server Software that Syncs only the Delta?

  I have a co-located server, and a desktop computer. I push small things and large ammounts of small files (like my iTunes) into a JungleDisk cloud. If a few files change there, no big deal, the file gets re-uped. For larger files JungleDisk backup isn't helpful. Things like movies and VMware images that change a lot, but I want backed up. Just not to JungleDisk since that would cost me even more money. I am looking for a product, closed or open source (preferably open source) that will sync the change, or delta, to my personal server on a schedule. That way I can keep a copy of my larger things, without paying JungleDisk a ton more since they are in the range of many Gigabytes. Right now these few items are backed up over FTP, and take forever. Both the client and server are windows environments.

• Current alternative to the old CHECKSUM program

  I'm looking for an application that does md5/sha hash check on specific files/folders periodically and store an index file per folder for future verification. I remember such application exist in DOS days, to detect files infected by virus. The main purpose for this is to detect corrupted copy of backup, as I understand that consumer grade hardware are not 100% error free when doing backup or file transfer from device to device. The hash can also be used to generate a list of changed files for backup. Most of the software I can find is hash manually. EDIT: Windows based application, preferably a shell extension which I can right click on a folder and do a checksum/verify all files in that folder. Even better if that can integrate with a backup/sync program like BeyondCopy

I've installed nfs-utils-1.2.2 and added the following line to the /etc/exports file: /root/svn 10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0(rw,sync,no_subtree_check) However, when I try to start the nfs service I get the following errors: gentoo-amd64-francis orig # /etc/init.d/nfs start FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.24-9-pve/modules.dep: No such file or directory * Exporting NFS directories ...   We have an issue with User Profile Sync in SharePoint 2010 when the following happens: A new user is added to AD (ie DOMAIN\jdoh) The user is synched successfully to SharePoint Time passes The user's account name is changed in AD (ie because it was originally misspelled: DOMAIN\jdoe) The user is re-synced to SharePoint The behavior appears to be that the account name is not changed. In the above example, accountname will continue to be DOMAIN\jdoh in SharePoint, though other properties are synced correctly- I would assume by SID. This means that the users' my profile and mysite links still refer to the 'old' name (ie Person.aspx?accountname=Domain\jdoh). What steps should be taken to fix this in SharePoint when an account name is changed in AD?

This company also has multiple branches with their own server that that connect to locally, but need to work with all the same data, and have it synchronized across all servers in real (or close) time. Is there a way/specific server OS that can sync live data across all of these servers? These servers would also need to be able to: Configure AFP, FTP, CIFS, SMB Continue to host their web server and database server in a Microsoft environment, but move the file server off to commodity hardware Just wondering if this is even possible.

• Slave/secondary DNS nameserver

  I'm learning about DNS and have a very basic, generic question about DNS but I can't find an answer anywhere. I have DNS for a few domains set up as follows: - master records with DNS company A - slave records with DNS company B Company A's nameservers are: ns1.companyA.com. ns2.companyA.com. ns3.companyA.com. ns4.companyA.com. ns5.companyA.com. and company B has three slaves: ns6.companyB.com. ns7.companyB.com. ns8.companyB.com. Everything works fine transferring the records between the nameservers and keeping them in sync. But my question is: The registrar of my domain example.com allows me to choose 4 nameservers only. Do I just pick the first 4 for company A, or do I need to include 1 or more of company B's slave nameservers too?

• Exchange can't send emails with attachments

  No one in our organization can send emails with attachments. Emails without attachments go through fine, but if an attachment is included, an error appears in the Server Failures folder under Sync Issues. The error is "The following message had an error and synchronization of it was skipped (0xc0090081)". We are using Symantec Mail Security, which we shut down to try to troubleshoot the problem, and now that fails to load. Any ideas as to what to check? I'm sorry I don't have more complete information, but I'm helping someone try to figure this out. I'm not the admin myself. Thanks.

• Using rsync to take backup of folder

  Hi, I have a server (Linux) with NAS which is mounted as folder "mount" I have website in "public_html" folder. I want to take backup of website in mount folder automatically at certain intervals for e.g. every hour. I read that there is something called "rsync" which is used to make two folders sync. And it doesn't copy all files every time and instead matches if the file has been changed and then only update changed files. How do I use it to make automatic backups? I have root access to server. • MySQL on a laptop for remote workers - MyISAM keeps corrupting

  We have an application that is used by remote, mobile workers. It intalls WAMP (Server2Go) on a laptop and uses MySQL to store data locally. All tables are MyISAM. Once a day, the workers sync the database to our central server via HTTP scripts that query the data and post it to our site. The problem is that many of these laptop database tables are corrupting continually. It appears that MySQL acts like it saves the information (I don't get any query errors), but the table gets corrupt. I have to repair the table constantly (which removes several rows of data in the process). Does anyone have any ideas about how to work around this problem? Would it be wise to switch to InnoDB on the laptops? How about a different database system altogether. I have looked at MySQL Embedded, but it appears to be the same engine as the regular MySQL.

I read the manual and it says: RSYNC_PASSWORD Setting RSYNC_PASSWORD to the required password allows you to run authenticated rsync connections to an rsync daemon without user intervention. Note that this does not supply a password to a shell transport such as ssh. USER or LOGNAME The USER or LOGNAME environment variables are used to determine the default username sent to an rsync daemon. • Stuttery 1080p playback on decent system

  We have a media center system that was recently built. It works well for all types of content, however it has issues with 1080p content. 720p plays fine. I have tried VLC, ffdshow and finally, CoreAVC. CoreAVC plays the best however it still eventually loses sync due to stutter - this does not happen on other systems with the same file.   I've posted this here as its more of a mysql questions than c#, I have written some software that runs a local instance of mysql when it first starts, now once mysql is up I would like to synchronize the data between the remote database table and the local database table that the software runs (it shouldn't sync any other databases / tables as there are a lot). I have replication setup to synchronize the entire database to another server which works unless the server goes down then it never comes back up, so based on that I don't think replication will work as when the software is closed it also closes MySQL. So what would be the best method of synchronizing the remote and local databases?

• Google Drive stripped Outlook 2010 of all emails, contacts, etc

  I have a business that requires I use the business email: [email protected] I loaded Google Drive as a free cloud to share project details with co-worker. Side effect is that Outlook 2010 does not work now. All incoming emails are now transferred to my personal Google account. Now I can not send business emails inclusive of business headers and footers since Outlook is erroring on send/receive. And all my history of email organization on Outlook is gone. I was previously successfully syncing outlook through Google calendar to keep my blackberry sync'd Your help is appreciated - thank you. David
