• Retrieve value of one column in a table

  Here is my problem: I have 2 tables Accounts and Transaction Logs. in Accounts table, it has column "Amount" which is a base amount of an account. and in Trans Logs table, it also has column "Amount" which is additional (add or minus to the base amount) amount of the account. and I don't know how to retrieve that base amount to edit it, then save it back to the table. That means I need to get a value of the right column by using Acc_No to find. I'm using DataSet, by the way. i think it should go like this: Dim Amount as Decimal Amount = *the code to retrieve the base amount* Amount = Amount + txtAmount.Text *the code to save the new amount back to Accounts table* Thank you!

  If I have to predefine all the columns, how do I take the advantage of the variable column key/value structure of cassandra? If I use update table command, it will insert null for all the rows which don't have that column. This is same as relational DB. For example, for contact column family, I have name, phone, email. I have 100 contacts have all 3 field. Then number 101 contact has skype id which I want to add. If I use insert statement, it won't let me add skypeid since it's not defined in the CF. So I have to run alter statement to change the CF, then all the first 100 contacts will have a null field for each of them.

  I have a survey database with one column for each question and one row for each person who responds. Each question is answered with a value from 1 to 3. Id Quality? Speed? -- ------- ----- 1 3 1 2 2 1 3 2 3 4 3 2 Now, I need to display the results as one row per question, with a column for each response number, and the value in each column being the number of responses that used that answer. Finally, I need to calculate the total score, which is the number of 1's plus two times the number of 2's plus three times the number of threes. I know how to do it using loops in C# or cursors in SQL, but I'm trying to make it work in a reporting tool that doesn't support cursors.

  For instance, I needed to remove column 25 and replace it with a copy of column 22 in a simple csv file with no embedded delimiters. The best I could come up with was the awkward looking: awk -F, '{ for(x=1;x<25;x++){printf("%s,", $x)};printf("%s,",$22);for(x=26;x<59;x++){printf ("%s,", $x)};print $59}' I would expect something like cut -d, -f1-24,23,26-59 to work but cut doesn't seem to want to print the same column two times... Is there a more elegant way to do it using anything typicaly available in a linux shell environment?

  I have a table, MapLocation, which has a column and two relationships with tables that have a field that really need to be displayed as a single concatenated value. I was thinking this was a perfect case for a computed column, but not sure how to go about it. I haven't done much with computed columns or concatenating in SQL. Edit: I need an actual computed column that is automatically updated, im looking for the formula. Or is this more of a function/trigger? Its possible, I certainly barely know what I'm doing. The idea is that I dont want to have to do two more server calls and concatenate these values client side.

  I am connecting C# with Oracle 11g. I have a DataTable which i fill using an Oracle Data Adapter. OracleDataAdapter da; DataTable dt = new DataTable(); da = new OracleDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM Author", con); da.Fill(dt); I have few text boxes that I have databound to various rows in the data table. txtAuthorID.DataBindings.Add("Text", dt, "AUTHORID"); txtFirstName.DataBindings.Add("Text", dt, "FIRSTNAME"); txtLastName.DataBindings.Add("Text", dt, "LASTNAME"); txtAddress.DataBindings.Add("Text", dt, "ADDRESS"); txtTelephone.DataBindings.Add("Text", dt, "TELEPHONE"); txtEmailAddress.DataBindings.Add("Text", dt, "EMAIL"); I also have a DataGridView below the Text Boxes, showing the contents of the DataTable. dgvAuthor.DataSource = dt; Now when I want to add a new row, i do bm.AddNew(); where bm is defined in Form_Load as BindingManagerBase bm; bm = this.BindingContext[dt]; And when the save button is clicked after all the information is entered and validated, i do this.BindingContext[dt].EndCurrentEdit(); try { da.Update(dt); } catch (Exception ex) { MessageBox.Show(ex.Message); } However the problem comes where when I usually enter a row to the database (using SQL Plus) , I use a my_pk_sequence.nextval for the primary key. But how do i specify that when i add a new row in this method? I catch this exception ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("SYSMAN".AUTHOR.AUTHORID") which is obvious because nothing was specified for the primary key. How do get around this? I am having a problem setting the dataField for each of the DataGridColumn ojects created. The DataGrid is created but the cell values for row 1 are all 0.51 and row 2 are 0.61. What am I doing wrong here?

• JqGrid updating grid on add

  Scenario: I have three columns in my grid but only one is editable, the other two are filled in on the server side. I am using the built in add functionality of jqGrid and NOT refreshing the grid on successfully add. I would like to have the row added to the grid, like it does automatically, but would like to add it myself because it only adds the one column that is marked 'editable'. I cannot seem to find a way to block the row from being automatically added to the grid, or a way to override the built in add functionality in the grid. My idea was to add the row myself because I will have received back the full row of data back on my submit. Questions: Is there a way to stop the grid from automatically adding the row when I do not want a grid refresh, so that I can manually add all the data for the row? Is it possible to use the built in add button and override the onClick, without digging and and directly figuring out what jqGrid calls the button? Any better ideas on how to accomplish getting the row added to the grid from the server side without doing it all manually...ie. create my own add button, and popup a dialog and handle all the submit functionality? EDIT What would help is if I could stop the grid from auto adding the row...I can deal with doing it myself.

  My output for my table in HTML has several columns such as userid, name, age, dob. The table heading is simply the title of the column name, I want this to be a link, and when clicked, the selected column is sorted in order, ASC, and then DESC (on next click). I thought this was pretty straight forward but I'm having some difficulty. So far, I have produced this, and no output is taken, apart from the URL works by displaying 'users.php?orderby=userid' <?php if(isset($_GET['orderby'])){ $orderby = $_GET['orderby']; $query_sv = "SELECT * FROM users BY ".mysql_real_escape_string($orderby)." • Git add not working with .png files?

  I have a dirty working tree, dirty because I made changes to source files and touched up some images. I was trying to add just the images to the index, so I ran this command: git add *.png But, this doesn't add the files. There were a few new image files that were added, but none of the ones that were modified/pre-existing were added. What gives? • C# DataSet CheckBox Column With DevExpress DataGrid

  Scenario I have a DevExpress DataGrid which is bound to a DataSet in C#. I want to populate each dataset row to contain a string in the first column and a checkbox in the second. My code below doesn't work quite how I want it to, and I'm not sure why..... The Code As you can see I've declared a dataset, but when I try and pass in a new checkbox object to the 2nd column it just displays the system name for the checkbox. • How to Add Proprietary Drivers to Ubuntu 10.04

  Does the hardware on your Ubuntu system need proprietary drivers work at peak performance?  Today we take a look how easy version 10.04 makes it to install them. Ubuntu 10.04 finally automatically recognizes and installs drivers for most hardware today, it even recognized and configured Wi-Fi drivers correctly every time in our tests.  This is in contrast to the past, when it was often difficult to get hardware to work in Linux.  However, most video cards still need proprietary drivers from their manufacturer to get full hardware video acceleration. Even though Ubuntu doesn’t include any non-open source components, it still makes it easy to install proprietary drivers if you wish.  When you first install and boot into Ubuntu, you may see a popup informing you that “restricted” drivers are available. You may see a notification asking you if you’d like to install optional drivers from your graphics card manufacturer when you try to enable advanced desktop effects.  Click Enable to directly install the drivers right there. Or, you can select the tray icon from the first popup, and click Install drivers. Alternately, if the tray icon has disappeared, click System, then Administration, and select Hardware Drivers.   This will open a dialog showing all the proprietary drivers available for your system, which may include drivers for your video card and other hardware depending on your computer.  Select the driver you wish to install, and click Activate. Enter your password, and then Ubuntu will download and install the driver without any more input.  After installation you may be prompted to reboot your system. Now, you should be able to take full advantage of your hardware, including fancy desktop effects with hardware acceleration. If you ever wish to remove these drivers, simply re-open the drivers dialog as above, select the driver, and click Remove.  Once again, a reboot may be required to finish the process. Conclusion Ubuntu has definitely made it easier to use Linux on your desktop computer, no matter what hardware you have.  If your video card or other hardware require proprietary drivers, it makes them available and simple to install.  And, best of all, all of your drivers stay updated with your software updates, so you can be sure you’re always running the latest. • Add Background Images and Themes to Windows 7 Media Center

  Are you tired of the same Windows Media Center look and feel? Today we’ll show you how change the background and apply themes to WMC. Changing the Basic Color Scheme in WMC There are a couple of very basic color scheme options built in to Windows 7 Media Center. From the WMC Start Menu, select Settings on the Tasks strip and then select General. On the General settings screen select Visual and Sound Effects.   Under Color scheme you’ll find options for Windows Media Center standard, High contrast white, and High contrast black. Simply select a color scheme and click Save before exiting.   If you have used Media Center before you are familiar with the standard blue default theme. There is also the high contrast white. And, the high contrast black. Changing the Background Image with Media Center Studio Themes and custom backgrounds need to be added with the third-party software, Media Center Studio. You can find the download link at the end of this article. You can use your own high resolution photo, or download one from the Internet. For best results, you’ll want to find an image that meets or exceeds the resolution of your monitor. Also, using a darker colored background image is ideal as it should contrast better with the lighter colored text of the start menu. Once you’ve downloaded and installed Media Center Studio (link below), open the application select the Home tab on the ribbon and make sure you are on the Themes tab below. Click New. Select Biography from the left pane and type in a name for your new theme.   Next, click on the triangle next to Images to expand the list below. You’ll want to browse to Images > Common > Background. You should see a list of PNG image files located below Background. We will want to swap out the COMMON.ANIMATED.BACKGROUND.PNG and the COMMON.BACKGROUND.PNG images. Select COMMON.ANIMATED.BACKGROUND.PNG and click on the Browse button on the right.   Browse for your photo and click Open. Your selected image will appear on the left pane. Now, do the same for the COMMON.BACKGROUND.PNG. When finished, select the Home tab on the ribbon at the top and click Save.   Now switch to the Themes tab on the ribbon and the Themes tab below. (There are two Themes tabs which can be a bit confusing). Select your theme on the right pane and click Apply. Note: You won’t see the image backgrounds displayed. Your theme will be applied to Media Center. Close out of Media Center Studio and open Windows Media Center to check out your new background.   You can load multiple backgrounds images and switch them periodically as your mood changes. You might like to find a nice background featuring your favorite movie or TV show.   Perhaps you can even find a background of your favorite sports team.   Installing Themes with Media Center Studio Theme7MC has made available a small group of Media Center Studio Theme packs that are simple to download and install. You can find the download link below. Note: Before installing a theme, turn off any extenders and close Windows Media Center. Download any (or all) of the Theme7MC theme packages to your Media Center PC. Open Media Center Studio, select the Themes tab (the one at the top) and click Import Theme.   Browse for the theme you wish to import and click Open. Select your theme from the themes pane and click Apply. Media Center Studio will proceed to apply your theme. You should then see your new theme appear under Current theme on the left theme pane. Close out of Media Center Studio. Open Media Center and enjoy your new theme. Conclusion Media Center Studio runs on Windows 7 or Vista and gives users a solution for personalizing their Media Center backgrounds. It is a Beta application, however, so it still has a few bugs. Currently, there are only a handful of themes available at Themes7MC, but what they have is pretty slick.   I have an input data in Excel which has 2000 rows and 60 columns. I want to read this data into MATLAB but I need to to interchange the rows and the column so that the matrix will be 60 rows and 2000 columns. How can I do this in MATLAB, because Excel only has 256 column which cannot hold 2000 columns.

  Climbing the learning mountain of TVirtualTreeView, I'm attempting to create a custom descendant that ensures that, when the control is resized, the width of the last column exactly fills control's width without requiring a horizontal scroll bar. I see a number of items (a method and a number of events) pertaining to "AutoFitColumns", but not documentation covering this feature. Can I use AutoFitColumns to automatically resize my last column and if so, how.

• Migrate add-on domain olddomain.com to newdomain.com

  I have 2 domains that are registered at GoDaddy : domaina.com (not hosted, only domain name is registered to GD) domainb.com (hosted at a different webhost, domain name registered to GD) domainb.com is an already working site, with a different webhost, but the domain name is registered to GoDaddy(and I assume the nameservers are changed to redirect to the webhost). Now, I don't understand why this was done, but domainb.com is considered a subdomain on the host... meaning the files are in a seperate folder on the server. Ex : public-html/domainb.com/public-html/FILES The structure is similar to this on the webhost : HostNAME (main root folder) domainb.com (subdomain of hostname) domainc.com (etc...) domaind.com (etc...) I want to transfer the site domainb.com to domaina.com, meaning domaina.com will become the new website, without having to re-upload all the content and CMS. The old one will redirect to domaina.com once the transfer is done (using 301 redirects). Can anyone tell me how I can do this?
