• 27 days after domain transfer name servers not propogated

  We recently bought the domain: embarrassingnightclubphotos.com 7 days after accepting the transfer the domain finally transferred to our registrar and we immediately changed the name servers from ns*.netregistry.net to amy.ns.cloudflare.com and cody.ns.cloudflare.com 20 days after changing the name servers, the majority of tests show that both old and new nameservers are still being reported: http://intodns.com/embarrassingnightclubphotos.com http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/embarrassingnightclubphotos.com We are now ready to launch the new site but this issue is plagueing us as a high proportion of the traffic is still receiving the old nameserves and so hitting the old server. You can tell if you have hit the old or new server as the old server has the value "A" for the meta tag "Location" and the new server has "U". (The old server just has an iframe too!) I have never had this problem before - who is causing this and how should we go about reaching a resolution? Thanks

  I have a WordPress blog and recently I have setup a new blog lets call the old blog as blog old and new blog as blog new. What I did is moved the content, photos, pictures and all 250 posts from blog old to blog new. Both the blog name are changed as they are pointing to different domain names! I read helpful things in this site itself at here. I will no longer use blog old, moreover I am concerned about the SEO of the blog new. The blog new is fairly new (just 24 hours and no pages have been indexed in Google). I have done the following stuff: Deleted all the post share at Facebook fan Page, Twitter profile, Google+ page and Finally deleted the fan page/Twitter, Google+ page. Edited the link backs of old blog in the blog new. The question I have is: How do I prevent duplicate content issues? Do I go straightaway and delete all the posts in blog old? Should I start sharing the blog posts in blog new? Should I submit the new site to Webmaster Tools or wait for few weeks? Every comment here is appreciated! What issues can I face relating to SEO?

  I'm trying to setup a Perl development environment on my Mac laptop and have been having a really hard time getting it working. I thought I had everything configured correctly but when I try to run a sample script it is reporting errors with the DBI module and can't access the DB. Here is what is reported in the Apache error logs: [Fri Apr 30 23:11:33 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Can't locate DBI.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /Library/Perl/Updates/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Library/Perl/Updates/5.10.0 /System/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /System/Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Network/Library/Perl/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /Network/Library/Perl/5.10.0 /Network/Library/Perl /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0/darwin-thread-multi-2level /System/Library/Perl/Extras/5.10.0 .) at main.pm line 5.   Specifically, I want to use Point-to-point Message Queue but because I am still using legacy codes in eVC++ 4 and it only support until PocketPC 2003SE SDK, I cannot find CreateMsgQueue and friends in the headers (the port to newer VisualStudio is still in progess) I am using the Message Queue to do IPC with apps developed with WM-6.5-DTK (VS2005). • Embedding a flash object old SWF markup? Will this work??

  I am embedding a flash object into my site and when I do I get a message from dreamweaver saying "This page contains some swf objects that may not work correctly in the most recent versions of Internet Explorer. • Where can I find a description of the old British Standard structured flow charts?

  Some professional organisation defined these in, IIRC, the early 80s as similar to the more well known flow charts, but "structured". Instead of having arbitrary "goto" arrows, they had the equivalent of loops etc. They were standardized, and I vaguely remember studying them briefly at O Level. Of course they were about as useful as the well-known chocolate teapot, but I'd still like to be able to find a reference guide for them if possible - for roughly the same reason I was looking for a reference for standard Basic a while back. Google tells me - well, nothing really. They may as well never have existed. Which is probably nearly (and perhaps completely) true - I certainly never heard of them anywhere else except when I was at school. There's a chance that they may even be my computer science teachers little joke.

The answer to the earlier question looks great, but I'm afraid that the Fluent Nhibernate API altered its .WithConvention syntax last year and broke the answer... either that or I'm missing something. I keep getting a bunch of name space not found errors relating to the IOneToOnePart, IManyToOnePart and all their variations: "The type or namespace name 'IOneToOnePart' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)" I've tried the official example dll's, the RTM dll's and the latest build and none of them seem to make VS 2008 see the required namespace. • How to enable 'Add Config Transforms' for old Visual Studio 2008 project?

  I am working in the new Visual Studio 2010 RTM and I would like to use web.config transforms. My site is configured to use .NET 4.0 but it was formerly as Visual Studio 2008 web application project. When I right-click on my web.config file I do not see the 'Add Config Transforms' option as I should. I also tried adding creating a new web.config but I still do not see the transform option. Does anyone know how to enable web.config transforms for projects in Visual Studio 2010 that were originally created in Visual Studio 2008?

• What is faster- Java or C# (Or good old C)?

  I'm currently deciding on a platform to build a scientific computational product on, and am deciding on either C#, Java, or plain C with Intels compiler on Core2 Quad CPU's. It's mostly integer arithmetic. My benchmarks so far show Java and C are about on par with each other, and dotNET/C# trails by about 5%- however a number of my coworkers are claiming that dotNET with the right optimizations will beat both of these given enough time for the JIT to do its work. I always assume that the JIT would have done it's job within a few minutes of the app starting (Probably a few seconds in my case, as it's mostly tight loops), so I'm not sure whether to believe them Can anyone shed any light on the situation? Would dotNET beat Java? (Or am I best just sticking with C at this point?). The code is highly multithreaded and data sets are several terabytes in size. Haskell/erlang etc are not options in this case as there is a significant quantity of existing legacy C code that will be ported to the new system, and porting C to Java/C# is a lot simpler than to Haskell or Erlang. (Unless of course these provide a significant speedup). Edit: We are considering moving to C# or Java because they may, in theory, be faster. Every percent we can shave off our processing time saves us tens of thousands of dollars per year. At this point we are just trying to evaluate whether C, Java, or c# would be faster.

  I have a fairly large NSData (or NSMutableData if necessary) object which I want to take a small chunk out of and leave the rest. Since I'm working with large amounts of NSData bytes, I don't want to make a big copy, but instead just truncate the existing bytes. Basically: NSData *source: < a few bytes I want to discard + < big chunk of bytes I want to keep NSData *destination: < big chunk of bytes I want to keep There are truncation methods in NSMutableData, but they only truncate the end of it, whereas I want to truncate the beginning. My thoughts are to do this with the methods: - getBytes:range: and - initWithBytesNoCopy:length:freeWhenDone: However, I'm trying to figure out how to manage memory with these. I'm guessing the process will be like this (I've placed ????s where I don't know what to do): void *buffer // Get range of bytes [source getBytes:buffer range:NSMakeRange(myStart, myLength)]; // Somehow (m)alloc the memory which will be freed up in the following step ????? // Release the source, now that I've allocated the bytes [source release]; // Create a new data, recycling the bytes so they don't have to be copied NSData destination = [[NSData alloc] initWithBytesNoCopy:buffer length:myLength freeWhenDone:YES]; Thanks for the help!

  Since I've read Windows User Experience Interaction Guidelines (there's a PDF download avaliable) I've found it to be admirably self-deprecating, humbly pointing out their own horrible UI practices long scolded by Joel Spolsky. I'd like to know, however, what they had in mind while they made those mistakes. Is this (terrific) UX Guidelines document something new, or were there previous issues of such? If so, where can I find them? My prayers to Google yielded no leniency.

• After dynamically changing a form submit function causes old function to get called once then new fu

  I am setting the submit function on a form with jQuery then later in the process I reset the function to something else. What happens is the original function gets called again then the new function when only the new function should have been called. I am sending the requests with AJAX. The first one validated the values on the server then asks if you want to continue. Clicking the submit again should only call the changed function but for some reason both get called simultaneously with a single click. What is happening here? Could jQuery be delaying the the setting of the 2nd function on the form submit?

  I just went through some MVC tutorials after checking this site out for a while. Is it just me, or does MVC View pages brinig back HORRIBLE flashbacks of Classic ASP spaghetti code with all the jumping in and out of HTML and ASP.NET with yellow delimiters everywhere making it impossible to read? What ever happened to the importance of code/design separation?? I was really sold on the new technology until the tutorials hit the View page development section. Or am I missing something?   Hey everyone... so Im trying to figure out how to do this. I have bounced around alot of forums to try and find my answer, but no success. Either their process it too complicated for me to understand, or is just overkill. What I am trying to do is this. I have an XML file within my app. Its a 500k xml file that i dont want the user to have to wait on when loading. SO... I put it in my app which kills the load time, and makes the app available offline. What i want to do is, when the app loads, in the background (seperate thread) download the SAME xml file which MIGHT be updated with new data. Once the xml file is complete, i want to REPLACE the xml file that was used to load the file. Any suggestions or code hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  Hi, there's this senior developer in my company that programs in C. I happen to be from functional background (ML, to be specific). This senior C programmer refuses to use abstractions because "abstraction is for lame programmers and _real_ programmers do not need it." I can not seem to convince him otherwise Is it a problem with only this programmer or do all C (and other lower level language) programmers have this opinion that abstraction is for lame programmers?

• Blender to 3ds max to cal3d format

  There are quite a few questions on cal3d but they are old and don't apply anymore. In Blender(must be 2.49a for python script to work!!!): I have a scene with 7 meshes, 1 armature, 10 bones. I tried going to one mesh to simplify it but doesn't change anything. I found a small blend file that was used for cal3d and it exported just fine. So I tried to copy it's setup with no success. EDIT*8/13/2012 In the last week here is what I have found so far. I made the mesh in the newest blender(2.62?) and exported it to import it in the old one(2.49a). Did an animation in the old one because importing new blend files to old blenders, its just said it would lose keyframe data and all was good. And then you get the last problem of it not exporting meshes. BUT I found that meshes made in the old one export regardless. I can't find any that won't export. So if I used the old blender to remake my model I could get it to export :) At this point I found a modified release of cal3d (because the most core model variable would not initiate as I made a really small test subject in old blender instead of remaking my big one which took 4 hours.) which fixes the morph objects and adds what cal3d left off with. Under their license they have to release the modification but it has no documentation so I have to figure it out on my own. Its mostly the same. But with this lib it came with a 3ds max exporter. My question now is how do I transfer armature and mesh information from blender to 3ds max in order to export into cal3d format. Every time I try the models are see through and small and there are no bones. The formats I have tried to import are .3ds .obj(mesh only) and COLLADA. In all of them the mesh is invisible and no bones. It says the default texture is on so I should be able to see it. All the vertices are present I found a vertex highlighter so I can see those. If any of this is confusing let me know so I can clear it up. Its late .<=sleep.

But I do not want to modify the players array by adding a new element to it. So, what can I do? • Using XAML + designer to edit Plain Old CLR Objects?

  I want to write a POCO in XAML, and use a DataTemplate to display that object in the GUI at runtime. So far, so good; I know how to do all that. Since I'll already have a DataTemplate that can transform my POCO into a WPF visual tree, is there any way to get the Visual Studio designer to play along, and have the Design View show me the POCO+DataTemplate's resulting GUI, as I edit the POCO's XAML? (Obviously the designer wouldn't know how to edit the "design view"; I wouldn't expect the Toolbox or click-and-drag to work on the design surface. That's fine -- I just want to see a preview as I edit.) If you're curious, the POCOs in question would be level maps for a game. (At this point, I'm not planning to ship an end-user map editor, so I'll be doing all the editing myself in Visual Studio.) So the XAML isn't WPF GUI objects like Window and UserControl, but it's still not something where I would want to blindly bang out some XAML and hope for the best. I want to see what I'm doing (the GUI map) as I'm doing it. If I try to make a XAML file whose root is my map object, the designer shows "Intentionally Left Blank - The document root element is not supported by the visual designer." It does this even if I've defined a DataTemplate in App.xaml's <Application.Resources>. But I know the designer can show my POCO, when it's inside a WPF object. One possible way of accomplishing what I want would be to have a ScratchUserControl that just contains a ContentPresenter, and write my POCO XAML inside that ContentPresenter's Content property, e.g.: <UserControl ...> <ContentPresenter> <ContentPresenter.Content> <Maps:Map .../> </ContentPresenter.Content> </ContentPresenter> </UserControl> But then I would have to be sure to copy the content back out into its own file when I was done editing, which seems tedious and error-prone, and I don't like tedious and error-prone. And since I can preview my XAML this way, isn't there some way to do it without the UserControl?

• Project. Properties.Settings versus plain old appSettings?

  I have an assembly built that uses appSettings in the app.config...pretty straight forward. however, I'm referencing this assembly in a web service, and that web service contains the nAnt build file for this service plus being the entry point for everything. Ideally I'd like to be able to set the assembly's appConfig values from the build file, but is this possible? Or do I have to switch to using the Settings values of the assembly and do something like this in the build: <xmlpoke file="${PublishLocation}\web.config" xpath="//applicationSettings/Namespace.AssemblyClass.Properties.Settings/setting[@name='ExchangeServer']/value" value="${ServerName}" /> You get the idea. Is this possible with just a config? My ideal situation would be to keep the settings more flexible in the appConfig so that when everything is on the server, if frogs rain down, I can update the assembly's config values without rebuilding the solution. Is this even possible (the xpath is wrong, it's just an example of what I'd like to do): <xmlpoke file="${PublishLocation}\web.config" xpath="//appSettings/Namespace/AssemblyClass/add[@key = 'ExchangeServer']/@value" value="${a}" />

• Oracle (Old?) Joins - A tool/script for conversion?

  I have been porting oracle selects, and I have been running across a lot of queries like so: SELECT e.last_name, d.department_name FROM employees e, departments d WHERE e.department_id(+) = d.department_id; ...and: SELECT last_name, d.department_id FROM employees e, departments d WHERE e.department_id = d.department_id(+); Are there any guides/tutorials for converting all of the variants of the (+) syntax? What is that syntax even called (so I can scour google)? Even better.. Is there a tool/script that will do this conversion for me (Preferred Free)? An optimizer of some sort? I have around 500 of these queries to port.. When was this standard phased out? Any info is appreciated.
