  We've been hitting the max open files limit on a few services recently. There are also a bunch of other limits in place. Is there a way to monitor how close processes are to these limits so we can be alerted when it's time to either up the limits or fix the root cause? On the same note, is it possible to view a log of these events so we know when a crash occurs it's because of hitting one of these limits?

  My Vista Business machine, running Ultramon, has three monitors attached. When I lock the machine, the monitor layout stays correct. When I unlock it, I watch as all my screens flicker (as they are being re-configured), and Vista chooses some crazy layout for the monitors. The most recent one is below, but it's never consistent. Any ideas what might cause this? It's Vista Business, with UltraMon 3.0 (exiting Ultramon makes no difference).

  I'm trying to monitor uSWGI via Nagios, but according to uWSGI I have specified an invalid socket. The socket path I got from the JSON config file which also says chmod-socket: 666 so I have a hunch that the problem is permission based.   Hi, I am using dual monitors, and this behavior has occured on 2 different computers (using the same monitors). When I turn the monitors off, and then on again after a while, 1 monitor turns on, displays the Dell logo etc. but doesn't display the windows login. It is just a blank page, and then the green light turns orange. Turning it on/off many times or just waiting a while eventually results in it working again, but I am very confused why!

I open the run window type mstsc /multimon and press enter, also "use all my monitors for the remote session" is checked.By this way RDC is opening but only in one monitor.Do I need to do any changes on host too?   I have dynamic content that I've configured output caching upon. Based on my tests it doesn't seem like IIS is seeing the content as cache-worthy. How can I monitor what IIS is doing? It appears as though PerfMon has some counters I'm interested in, but I'm not sure which ones to look at. If my content is not querystring or form parameter based, but URI based will my content not be deemed cache-worthy?

  I have a Windows XP computer with two monitors attached. The secondary monitor occasionally flickers off and then back on. It kind of looks like it is going into power saving mode, then immediately exiting. I have tried swapping the two monitors, and this consistently happens on the whichever one is connected as the secondary one. The video card I am using is a "Gigabyte GeForce 9600GT 512MB Silent".

  I have a server with a faulty power button that likes to reboot itself. Usually there are warning signs, like the acpid log file in /var/log starts spamming garbage for about 10hrs or so. Is there an easy way I can have something monitor the acpid log and email me when it has new activity?
