• Wordpress page linking

  I am trying to implement WordPress into quite a large site with a complex page structure and struggling to get normal pages to work (not created through the admin) The pages are created, but when I link to them, nothing happens... The desired url - www.website.com/dir1/dir2/dir3/page.php The actual url- www.website.com/wp-content/themes/themename/dir1/dir2/dir3/page.php The problem with linking to the latter is that it breaks the WordPress functions I don't want to have to give every page a template, then add it through the admin, it is too much work. I only need 2 pages to contain dynamic content. Am I being silly? I am really confused.

• WPF: Hidden parent and visible child

  As of last night, I decided to start learning about WPF and have been reading through a number of online tutorials and books. This is a huge shift. One feature that has fascinated me is the implicit property value inheritance. I know in the WinForms world, if a control is not visible then neither are any of the child controls. Same seems to be true in the WPF world, as expected. I wondered if explicitly setting the child control's Visibility property would allow for an invisible parent and visible child and it did not. Is this something that would be possible in WPF? Can you have a container control that is hidden with visible children? This is more an exercise of curiosity than anything. I'm still trying to wrap my head around a lot of what I've been reading.

• Asp.net control inside of fancybox modal is not "working"

  Your typical "It doesn't work" freak out going on over here. Any direction would help. I have a login control on my master page and I'm trying to only display it using jquery fancybox and then redirect the user once they are logged in. But any buttons or controls that should do "something" when pressed when I put inside the fancy box are not responding. If I keep the div visible and then use the control not using fancybox I get the expected result. What are my options?

  I have a page with a ASP.NET DropDownBox control (HTML select) that's populated with some dynamic record values. When the user selects a record the entire contents of the page is updated to reflect the selection. If a user clicks a link and leaves the page and tries to go back, it pulls up the default unselected list, and they have to reselect it again. How would be the best way to retain their selection? I currently have the page set so if the url contains PageName.aspx?recordID=5 it will select the correct dropDown option. However I'm not sure how to change the URL's query string based on the selection.

  I'm using an MVC pattern in winforms application. I need to call remote service asynchronously. So On some event in View I invoke corresponding Presenter method. In Presenter I call BeginInvoke method of service. But to View must be updated only in Main Thread. I could actualy point CallBack to some function in View, and update it`s controls state, but this conflicts with MVP pattern - View must not be responsible for data it carries. This callback function must be in Presenter. But how then invoke View in Main Thread?

• Accented character regex

  I'm trying to create a regex that will look for french words whether a user specifies the accented characters or not. So if the the user has searched for "déclaré" but types in declare instead I would like to be able to match the text still. I'm having difficulty making this more dynamic so that it can be matched on any french word... Closest example from another user from a different post was: d[eèéê]cl[aàáâ]r[eèéê] Is it even possible to write a regex for something like this? Any advice would be much appreciated.

• iPhone tableview: titleForHeaderInSection derived from array

  I have a tableview that is populated by an array. Currently the tableview has no grouping. What I would like to do is check a value of each array object, such as State, and group all the CA items together, all the OR items together, etc. Then, assign those groups a title. The array is dynamic, and will grow and get new values in the future, so I can't hardcode titles, I would like these to somehow come from my initial array. Currently I am using the following, but it does not take into account sorting of the array, or if I removed all of the items in the array that have to do with California. - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section == 0) { return @"California"; } else if (section == 1) { return @"Washington"; } else { return @"Utah"; } }//end tableView So, I am confusing myself as to how this would be possible.   I found this question which is a great starting point towards creating embedded widgets that enable showing dynamic content on remote sites (i.e. a different domain). One problem I'm having is with the following code: public ActionResult SomeAction() { return new JsonpResult { Data = new { Widget = "some partial html for the widget" } }; } It says Widget = "some partial html for the widget" but this doesn't really mean anything to me. I assume that Widget would contain the HTML representing what the user wants to see on the screen, but How do I get the contents of my Partial View into Widget?   I'd be curious to understand if there's any substantial difference in specifying libraries (both shared and static) to gcc/g++ in the two following ways (CC can be g++ or gcc) CC -o output_executable /path/to/my/libstatic.a /path/to/my/libshared.so source1.cpp source2.cpp ... sourceN.cpp vs CC -o output_executable -L/path/to/my/libs -lstatic -lshared source1.cpp source2.cpp ... sourceN.cpp I can only see a major difference being that passing directly the fully-specified library name would make for a greater control in choosing static or dynamic versions, but I suspect there's something else going on that can have side effects on how the executable is built or will behave at runtime, am I right?   I have a GUI which uses a selection from a popupmenu in another callback. Is there a way to return the selected value of the popupmenu in only one line without creating any temporary variables? I've tried several solutions, but I've only managed two lines with one temporary variable: Three lines: list=get(handles.popupmenu1,'String'); val=get(handles.popupmenu1,'Value'); str=list{val}; Two lines: temp=get(handles.popupmenu1,{'String','Value'}); str=temp{1}{temp{2}}; Can anyone shave it down to one? PS, It's a dynamic menu, so I can't just use get(handles.popupmenu1,'Value') and ignore the string component altogether.)

• Possible to bind an event listener to a (hypothetical) onChangeInnerHTML event?

  In my app, I have an OL tag whose contents are changed by various other dynamic events. Is there some way to put a listener on that OL so that I can execute a function whenever its contents are altered in any way? In this example I need to update a count of items in the list which appears in another spot in the interface. I am using jQuery if that helps. The contents of the OL are being changed with OL.append() and LI.remove(), in case those methods have some special events that I don't know about Thanks!

  I want to pull data from a device that is accessed via a serial protocol and has a GPRS modem attached which should allow transparent access over an IP connection. It seems to me that this approach is upside down, because how should I know at which IP address the device currently is? Unfortunately, the device itself is rather dumb, so I can't make it send something to my server, which would reveal the current IP. For home routers on dialup lines, there's dynamic DNS services. Is there something equivalent in the mobile world? Each modem would, of course, have its phone number as a reliable address, but how does that help me? Practically all material on GPRS etc. that I can find online seems to be concerned with initiating the connection from the modem side, since that's what the system is designed for.

  Hello All, I have an ASP.NET 3.5 webforms project written in VB that involves a multi-table SQL Server insert. That is, I want the customer to input all their contact information, order details etc. into one control (thinking wizard control). Then, I want to call a stored procedure that does the insert into the respective database tables. I'm familiar and comfortable with the ASP.NET wizard control. However, all the examples I've seen in my searches pertain to inserting data into one table. Questions: 1. Given a typical order process - customer information, order information, order details - should a wizard control be used to insert data into multiple database tables? If not, what controls/workflow do you suggest? 2. I've set primary keys and indexes on my order details, orders and customers tables. Is there special stored procedure syntax to use to ensure that referential integrity is maintained through the insert process? Thanks, Sid

  I need your help to understand this better. This is my case. I have a custom validator for each of my input controls in the form. So when there is any validation error,I add a corresponding FacesMessage in the validate method. My understanding was that when there is any validation error - or when there are any FacesMessages added in the validate method of the Custom Validator, it would skip the INVOKE APPLICATION phase and would directly call the RENDER RESPONSE PHASE - showing the FacesMessage that was added in the PROCESS VALIDATION Phase - Is this correct? The problem I'm facing is - I add a FacesMessage in the PROCESS VALIDATION Phase - because of a validation error - and I add a confirmation message for the action that was taken by the user in the INVOKE APPLICATION PHASE - Now both are shown in the page in the RENDER RESPONSE Phase ? - If my understanding is correct in the above question - is it the best practice to conditionally add a confirmation FacesMessage after confirming that there are no FacesMessages in the currect FacesContext ? Appreciate your help.

• how to prevent myControl.g.cs from overwriting with wrong base class

  I've got two custom cursors for my app, MyCursor and MyOtherCursor, both of which were designed in xaml, and I added some behaviour in the xaml.cs for each of them. This behaviour was the same for both so I had them inherit from a base class to reduce code duplication. public partial class myCursor: CursorBase { public InterchangeCursor() { InitializeComponent(); } } public class CursorBase : UserControl { public virtual void MoveTo(Point pt) { this.SetValue(Canvas.LeftProperty, pt.X); this.SetValue(Canvas.TopProperty, pt.Y); } } my problem is that if I change something in the xaml for MyCursor, the MyCursor.g.cs file is regenerated, and instead of inheriting from CursorBase, the partial class in the g.cs inherits from System.Windows.Controls.UserControl. Since the other side of the partial class in the xaml.cs file still inherits CursorBase, a build error occurs. I'm finding it annoying fixing the g.cs file each time. Does anyone know how to prevent this happening?

• Why do .png backgrounds appear black on iPhone device but not simulator?

  I started with a .tiff file and used GraphicConverter to change it to a .png and set a transparency color. Worked fine in the simulator but when I pushed to the device the transparency color became black. Tested with a .png I downloaded from the net and that worked fine, so it seems to only happen with some files. Thus I suspect it has something to do with the way GraphicConverter writes the .pngs, but I don't know enough about file formats to debug it. Any ideas/suggestions? Ideally I'd like to programatically treat all .pngs because my app allowed dynamic loading of arbitrary files, so I can't verify the transparency beforehand.

• c# GUI changing a listbox from another class

  I've written a multithreaded server that uses tcplistener and a client handler class that controls input and output. I also have a GUI chat client. The chat client works fine and the console version of the server also works well. I have a start() method in the partial(?) Form class, which I run from a new thread when I click a button, that starts the TCP Listener and loops through and accepts socket requests. For every request a new ClientHandler object is created and the socket is passed to this object before being used in a new handler thread. The ClientHandler is a different class to the form and I'm having real problems writing data to the Listbox in the Form class from within the ClientHandler class. I've tried a few different ways of doing this but none of them work as they involve creating a new form class within the ClientHandler. Any help or advice on what I should be reading to help me would be really appreciated.

It's a comic shop, and I want to make a place where people can manage their own subscriptions.
