Is there any tool or software to find passphrases in an image like .jpg? or Should i use any programming in this regard, i googled but din't find any guidance?
Is there any way to vertically align an image element generated by a "content" property as part of a ":before" selector, next to adjacent inline text? In other words, I have
<a href="..." class="facebook">Share on Facebook</a>
As I don't want to pollute my markup with unnecessary IMG elements that only have to do with style, I resort to adding a small icon to the left of the link, via CSS (except that it does not align properly, hence the question):
a.facebook:before
{
content: url(/style/facebook-logo.png);
}
I tried adding a "vertical-align: middle" (one of the most notoriously difficult aligning concepts to grasp in CSS, in my opinion, is that very property) but it has no effect. The logo aligns with text baseline, and I don't want to hardcode pixel offsets, because frankly text size differs from browser to browser, etc. Is there any solution for this?
Thanks.
Hi
I'm a beginner in BlackBerry programming, I need to replace in my application the default menu (when you press the menu button) by a custom menu, horizontal. The best to describe is I want the same result as the WeatherEye application for BlackBerry...
I know how to create the default menu, but this one I have no idea!
Thank you,
Hey.
I am trying to find an item in a NSMutableArray from it's value, only to find its indexPath.
I have absolutely no idea of how to do this, as I am very new to programming in general.
Thanks!
Hi Currently we just start releasing modules for a big project in MVVM but seems like the deliverables are starting to encounter a slowness with this model, such things as the learning curve effort and the fact that mvvm do requires a bit more code than other patterns, What Programming and software engineering techniques do you employ or thing could help us reduce the effort and speed up development?
things like code generation with T4 templates, ligth MVVM frameworks, use Expression Blend, hire a designer to hanle UX.
Thanks for any advice you could provide.
I have created a site where people can create a profile. But I am trying to figure out how to start on making an add friend button so users can have friends.
In my user table, i have user_id, first_name, last_name, email, etc.
Should I somehow relate the user_id of the user and the friend in a friend table?
I am a novice to programming, so these things are still new to me. Thanks!
There's a few mentions of Javascript newbies getting starting by checking out some of Douglas Crockford's work (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11246/best-resources-to-learn-javascript), but none of his resources seem to be for those looking to learn from the ground up.
Are there any suggestions for complete beginners regarding how best to learn JavaScript?
Personally I have plenty of HTML and CSS experience, and some PHP (which would help learning JS), but for those that don't know any programming language what would you recommend?
Hello everyone,
What do you consider a better programming practice: passing objects as pointers or references to functions. What do you do for input validation?
Thanks.
Hi Guys,
I started commercial programming lately, I am used to functions, then now I always questions about interfaces..
Do you provide me with some links and book names, that can explain deeply why using interfaces?
is interfaces required for small projects??
I am using C#.
thanks
It won't let me post the picture. Btw, Someone from Reddit.programming sent me over here. So thanks!

hi,
i have a requirement to read data from a gif. The gif is exported from a Bloomberg terminal and contains Stock Prices. Is there anyway of reading the Stock Prices off this gif?
I'd prefer to do it in C#, but if there is any other programming language that is recommended, i would be grateful if you can share that with me.
regards
recently I found an interesting site that provides Internet fax services via internet
I am learning programming and I was inspired to make an application that could send faxes from my PC, any ideas or suggestions?
I have next to no programming experience, and absolutely none with Java, so I'm looking for some good online tutorials/primers. Please point me to good ones for beginners like me.
Thanks.

I'm coming from an XHTML/CSS background. I don't know much about JavaScript. Would you recommend learning JavaScript before learning a server programming language?
Hi,
a colleague and I are trying pair programming for the first time. We both remote into a development machine; I'm using RemoteDesktop and my colleague is using UltraVNC. This works great except that he can't see the Intellisense dropdown in Visual Studio 2008. According to online posts, this may be something to do with DirectDraw, but I don't see much by way of a workaround.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks,
Andrew
Have you ever had to use bit shifting in real programming projects? Most (if not all) high level languages have shift operators in them, but when would you actually need to use them?
Given any number of the random real numbers from the interval [0,1] is there exist any method to construct a floating point number with zero decimal part?
Your algorithm can use only random() function calls and no variables or constants. No constants and variables are allowed, no type casting is allowed. You can use for/while, if/else or any other programming language operands.
I want to improve my design and programming skills by understanding design & code of open source projects. I downloaded hadoop,groovy but they are very difficult to follow. I am not having a clue of how to follow this code without having a high level overview of the design. Any suggestions??
Thank you.
Please give me some titles, preferably not free books.
I don't need it to be free; it would be better if published by McGraw Hill, Prentice-Hall, Springer, or any other good publisher.
Note that I'm interested here in programming with C++ only.
New to programming, I am trying to graph the following Gaussian function in Matlab (should graph in 3 dimensions) but am making some mistakes somewhere. What is wrong?
sigma = 1
for i = 1:20
for j = 1:20
z(i,j) = (1/(2*pi*sigma^2))*exp(-(i^2+j^2)/(2*sigma^2));
end
end
surf(z)
Hi there ,
i always asked myself. Why are there so many DB management systems?
I am not an DB expert and i never thought about using another DB than mysql.
Programming languages offer different paradigms, so there it makes sense to choose a specific language for your purpose.
What are factors to choose a specific DB management system ?
Windows 7.
It's for my own machine, so it doesn't matter if it requires admin rights or something.
Preferably in Python or .NET, but I can learn a bit of Win32 (C/C++) programming if it's necessary.
I'm searching for articles that will make me a generally better programmer. I code in Python but combine it with Postgres and JS quite a lot if that helps. I'm currently reading Dive into python3 but I fear it won't last me much longer and would really like to expand my programming ability.
Does anyone have any good recommendations?
I spent quite a long time searching for a solution to this problem. I drew tons of cross-hatched triangles, counted the triangles in simple cases, and searched for some sort of pattern. Unfortunately, I hit the wall. I'm pretty sure my programming/math skills did not meet the prereq for this problem.
So I found a solution online in order to gain access to the forums. I didn't understand most of the methods at all, and some just seemed too complicated.
Can anyone give me an understanding of this problem? One of the methods, found here: http://www.math.uni-bielefeld.de/~sillke/SEQUENCES/grid-triangles (Problem C)
allowed for a single function to be used.
How did they come up with that solution? At this point, I'd really just like to understand some of the concepts behind this interesting problem. I know looking up the solution was not part of the Euler spirit, but I'm fairly sure I would not have solved this problem anyhow.
