  I understand that this is highly specific to the concrete application, but I'm just wondering what's the general opinion, or at least some personal experiences on the issue. I have an aversion towards the 'open session in view' pattern, so to avoid it, I'm thinking about simply fetching everything small eagerly, and using queries in the service layer to fetch larger stuff. Has anyone used this and regretted it? And is there maybe some elegant solution to lazy loading in the view layer that I'm not aware of?

• Django admins disappearing from the admin index

  We're running a Django website with rough 45 install Django admin classes. The handler is mod_fastcgi. Every once in a while about half the admins disappear from /admin/ screen. Touching the production.fcgi file restores everything to normal, but we have yet to determine the underling cause. Any thoughts on what the underlying issue might be?

• WPF RichTextBox support for document links?

  I'm attempting to render RTF documents using the WPF RichTextBox control. So far, the appearance of the rendered RTF documents is quite true to the originals which were authored using MS Word. The one issue I've found is that the "document anchors" which are hyperlinks to different locations within the document, do not function as hoped. While they look like links, clicking on them does nothing. Can the WPF RichTextBox support this type of link?

• Invisible back button when view controller pushed onto navigation controller

  I'm using a navigation controller to drill into a detail view when a cell is tapped. When I push my view controller onto the navigation controllers stack, I expect to see a back button that I can tap to pop the previous view off the stack. The issue is that the back button isn't visible, but when tapping where it should be returns me to the previous view. What's the problem?

• Strange behavior of DDD debugger in Ubuntu

  I installed DDD debugger in Ubuntu and trying to work with it. It looks like DDD UI doesn't work properly with Ubuntu desktop environment. Edit boxes are almost unusable: sometimes they accept keyboard input, most of times input is ignored. Internal resizing panes are not working. Is there some way to get DDD UI working properly? The same behavior is in Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit, and 10.4 64 bit, so this is not Ubuntu version issue.

  We've noticed a compatibility issue with a Silverlight 3 app which runs fine with v3.0.40818, v3.0.50106 and v4.0.50401 but refuses to load in v3.0.40624. • CICS web service requestor GET CONTAINER returns neither data nor error

  I am developing a CICS web service requestor application to consume a distributed web service. I used the web services assistant DFHWS2LS to transform the wsdl to copybooks successfully. I have no problem issuing the PUT CONTAINER and INVOKE SERVICE api commands, but when I issue GET CONTAINER I am not receiving any containers or data. But this is not working becouse sum works with numbers not strings. If i go with lookup, it works with strings but finds only first line, not all lines. Do you have an Idea on how to fix this issue? The issue is that when I call users.Except(matches) The matching users are not being excluded at all! I am expecting 6 users ut "excludes" contains all 8 users instead. Since all I'm doing in GetMatchingUsers(IEnumerable users) is taking the IEnumerable and just returning the IUsers whose ID's match( 2 IUsers in this case), my understanding is that by default "Except" will use reference equality for comparing the objects to be excluded. Is this not how "Except" behaves? What is even more interesting is that if I materialize the objects using .ToList() and then get the matching users, and call "Except", everything works as expected! Like so: IEnumerable users = doc.Element("Users").Elements("User").Select (u = new User { ID = (int)u.Attribute("id"), Name = (string)u.Attribute("name") } ).OfType().ToList(); //explicity materializing all objects by calling ToList() var matches = User.GetMatchingUsers(users); var excludes = users.Except(matches); // excludes now contains 6 users as expected I don't see why I should need to materialize objects for calling "Except" given that its defined on IEnumerable? Any suggesstions / insights would be much appreciated.
