CSS3 gradient background set on body doesn't stretch but instead repeats?

ok say the content inside the <body> totals 300px high. If I set the background of my <body> using -webkit-gradient or -moz-linear-gradient Then I maximize my window (or just make it taller than 300px) the gradient will be exactly 300px tall (the height of the content) and just repeat to fill the rest of the window. I am assuming this is not a bug since it is the same in both webkit and gecko. But is there a way to make the gradient stretch to fill the window instead of repeat?

iPhone UIImage initWithData fails

Hello all, I'm trying to code up an async image downloader. I use NSURLConnection to get the data into an NSMutableData and use that data once it is complete to initialize a UIImage. I checked the bytes and it downloads the entire image correctly (right number of bytes at least), however; when I call [UIImage imageWithData:data] and then check the properties of the image, it is zero width and a garbage number for height, in fact, same number no matter what the image is. I tried with bunch of different images, png, jpg, different urls, it always downloads the image completely but UIImage can't initialize with that data. What could I be doing wrong here? Thanks.

How to access pixels of an NSBitmapImageRep?

I have an NSBitmapImageRep that is created like this: NSBitmapImageRep *imageRep = [[NSBitmapImageRep alloc] initWithBitmapDataPlanes:NULL pixelsWide:waveformSize.width pixelsHigh:waveformSize.height bitsPerSample:8 samplesPerPixel:4 hasAlpha:YES isPlanar:YES colorSpaceName:NSCalibratedRGBColorSpace bytesPerRow:0 bitsPerPixel:0]; Now I want to access the pixel data so I get a pointer to the pixel planes using unsigned char *bitmapData; [imageRep getBitmapDataPlanes:&bitmapData]; According to the Documentation this returns a C array of five character pointers. But how can it do that? since the type of the argument is unsigned char **, it can only return an array of chars, but not an array of char pointers. So, this leaves me wondering how to access the individual pixels. Do you have an idea how to do that? (I know there is the method – setColor:atX:y:, but it seems to be pretty slow if invoked for every single pixel of a big bitmap.)

Unable to modify git bash Windows shortcut

Under Windows 7 I'd like to change the settings for the Git Bash Here shell extension command window, e.g. width, height and font. But when I do this, I get an error "Unable to modify the shortcut". I can modify the shortcut for Git Bash in the Start menu by using "Run as administrator..." This works, but only for Bash windows opened from the Start menu. It doesn't work for the "Git Bash Here" shell extension and there's no "Run as administrator..." option on right-click context menu. How do you do it?

Binding scattered/overlapping images to a WPF Canvas

I am porting a GDI application over to WPF, where I displayed several dozen images onto Form, then drew polygons, circles, rectangles, etc over the top of these images using GDI Pens and Brushes. I'm starting to get the hang of WPF binding and would like to store all of these images and markup graphics in my ViewModel. My VM contains an ObservableCollection of my custom DrawingEntitys, DrawingEntity contains DependencyProperties for BitmapSource, Height, Width, CanvasTopLeftY, and CanvasTopLeftX, that I update frequently in the collection. I know my binding is working, I just can't figure out how to bind and draw this collection onto a Canvas. I've played around with ItemsControl and ItemsSource to death, too many different ways to list here. I can display the DrawingEntity.Bitmaps onto the canvas but Canvas.Top won't bind to CanvasTopLeftY in the DrawingEntity, everything is overlapped at 0,0. I think I'm missing an obvious strategy. Any ideas?

Can it be done in xml, without java-coding? If I could write something like android:layout_height="match_that_TextView" it would have solved this issue, but it's impossible I guess.

How to wrap text of html button with fixed width

I just noticed that if you give a html button a fixed width, the text inside the button is never wrapped. I've tried it with word-wrap, but that cuts of the word even though there are spaces available to wrap on. I'm creating thumbnails cycling through a lot of images, when I find a large image I get: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 13056 bytes) Now I already know how to circumvent this with: ini_set('memory_limit', '-1'); What I want to know is why it exhaust the memory! Is there some debug tools that will show me exactly when memory is exhausting? And specifically that will show me if there are variables/arrays that are killing my memory? OR, are there better way to resize images other then: $thumb=imagecreatetruecolor($newwidth,$newheight); $source=imagecreatefromjpeg($imgfile); imagecopyresampled($thumb,$source,0,0,0,0,$newwidth,$newheight,$width,$height); imagejpeg($thumb,$destinationfile,85); ? In webkit browsers(i tested both chrome and safari) the overflow hidden cuts the text outside the border. Firefox just renders text outside the border. I also tried this without overflow:hidden; but again the text just rendered outside the border.

jquery noConflict not working in IE8 only

How can I "best fit" an arbitrary cairo (pycairo) path?

It seems like given the information in stroke_extents() and the translate(x, y) and scale(x, y) functions, I should be able to take any arbitrary cairo (I'm using pycairo) path and "best fit" it. In other words, center it and expand it to fill the available space. Before drawing the path, I have scaled the canvas such that the origin is the lower left corner, up is y+, right is x+, and the height and width are both 1. Given these conditions, this code seems to correctly scale the path: # cr is the canvas extents = cr.stroke_extents() x_size = abs(extents[0]) + abs(extents[2]) y_size = abs(extents[1]) + abs(extents[3]) cr.scale(1.0 / x_size, 1.0 / y_size) I cannot for the life of me figure out the translating though. Is there a simpler approach? How can I "best fit" a cairo path on its canvas? Please ask for clarification if anything is unclear in this question.

iPhone: UITableView Becomes Invisible after Changing the Data it Displays

Hi I have application with a TabBar that controls several views. In one view, I control connections to different servers. Each server provides a different set of items. I display these items in UITableView on another view. The problem is that the tableview displays OK the first time but if I go back to view number one and change the server, thereby changing the list of items that should be displayed in tableview, the tableview becomes invisible for some reason. If I tap on the screen in the place where it should be, it becomes visible again. I create table view like this UITableView * aTableView = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(X,Y,Width,Height) style:UITableViewStyleGrouped]; [[self view] addSubview:aTableView]; aTableView.dataSource = self; Ive tried to call reloadData and setNeedsDisplay in viewWillAppear of the UIViewController that hosts this tableview but without success. How to "smart resize" a displayed image to original aspect ratio

I have an application in which end-users can size and position images in a designer. Since the spec calls for the image to be "stretched" to the containing control, the end user can end up with an awkwardly stretched image. To help the user with image sizing I am thinking of implementing a smart resizer function which would allow the the user to easily fix the aspect ratio of the picture so that it no longer appears stretched. The quick way to solve this is to actually provide two options: 1) scale from width 2) scale from height. The user chooses the method and the algorithm adjusts the size of the picture by using the original aspect ratio. For example: A picture is displayed as 200x200 on the designer but the original image is 1024x768 pixels. The user chooses "Smart Size from width" and the new size becomes ~200x150 since the original aspect ratio is ~1.333 That's OK, but how could I make the algorithm smarter and not bother the user by asking which dimension the recalculation should be based on?

Three vertically stacked DIVs with scrolling middle

Is it possible to stack three DIVs vertically and have just the middle div scroll vertically? I don't want to use pixel heights, though, because the DIVs are inside of a dialog box that is resizeable. Something like this (pardon my lousy ASCII art): +-----------+ | Header | +-----------+ | ^| | || | Scroll || | || | v| +-----------+ | Footer | +-----------+ The goal is to have the header and and footer fixed and, as the dialog grows, the middle div would grow vertically. Maybe I'm just being stupid, but I've been fighting this for the last few hours and can't seem to get it right. The three DIVs probably need to be inside "another" DIV but when I do that, and set the height to 100%, it grows as the middle DIV grows. Again, it's probably something silly I'm not accounting for. I've also tried using a TABLE to no avail. Thanks for any help.

I know this isn't a direct programming question, but's it's kinda relevant as I'm trying to get a good testing environment set up before I embark on my latest project. I'm trying to set up Opera Mobile for Windows to allow me to test a new website. The UserAgent I get is a fairly generic one, so my workaround is to tweak my mobile.browser file to have the correct screen width and height of the target device. Is it possible to add to the list of "fake" user agents that Opera Mobile for Windows can pretend to be? It currently supports S60, Android and Windows Mobile.
