  • how to use .mdf while developing

    I use a .mdf database for my asp.net Mvc project. The project is on source control on a tfs. When I debug the project, Visual Studio copies the database in to the debugmap. The problem is, when I debug next time, the changes (while testing the previous time) in the database are gone. The reason of this I know, Visual studio copies the original database again in to the debug map. Can I change some settings in Visual studio to work always on the same database without copying the database after each debug session myself? So I can keep my modified records? Or how do I have to work with my database while developing? Greets

  • AIR for Android, Flash iphone packager, Playbook support for streaming camera and choosing camera

    I am wondering if anyone can definitively tell me if Flash / AIR can find all these mobile devices front facing camera and use RTMP to stream the video captured ? I would like to create a video conferencing app for these devices. Of course none of them support testing this in the simulators and I don't have the funds to purchase or access all of them that I would like to test. Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I have seen some posts where they have done this for android but not sure about support for finding a list of cameras, choosing one and streaming from iphone 4 and playbook. thanks for any help on this.

    hi there I need to have some images into my database, and the thing is that i need that images to have certain file names, dimensions and text on it. I know how to generate some images using the opencv lib, but this means that i need to install the lib and do just that job(which sounds as reinventing the wheel). Do you think is worth to do that or maybe you have a better idea? ps: the images are for testing stage of a software application, so i don;t need anything fancy or artistic.

My question is how can I receive this text in the caller side? Any help will be much appreciated.

  • ASP.NET MVC 2 - Checkboxes

    I'm using string[] roles = Roles.GetAllRoles() to get a string[] of all the ASP.NET membership roles for my application. I'm sending the roles to my view in ViewData and using a foreach to create a set of Checkboxes using <%: Html.CheckBox("RoleCheckBox") %>. There are 3 roles and my view does render 3 checkboxes. When I do a View/Source, I see the checkboxes and their corresponding hidden tags. They all have the same, so there are 6 tags with the name "RoleCheckBox" - 3 that render the checkboxes and 3 that are hidden. The problem comes when I post the form back to my controller and bind the results - something like public ActionResult Create(Person person, string[] RoleCheckBox). I get FOUR strings and I have no idea where the fourth string ("false") is coming from. I could do some testing by trying various combinations of checks to see which one (hopefully) doesn't change and ignore it but that's just ugly. Does anyone know why this would be happening?     I have my project in .NET that uses a db in MSSQL Server,i'm using LINQ , sometimes when the projec throws me an exception (Constraint) in a part of the project this same error keeps showing in other part of the project when i do another thing with the db, like when i do an insertion and i had before an exception on delete the insertion throws me the delete exeption, and it remainds this way until i close and open again the project, my major problem is when this happen in my online project, this error in my project causes me problems in the project i'm testing online (i use the same db). I don't know if this exception is on the memory or something but its have been causing me a lot of headechs.

    My Asp.net application uses 25-30% of the CPU on a test server which has 600 MB Ram on it. I can see the asp_wb process taking that much percentage of CPU. This is when I am testing using one user. How many users can the server afford then without falling over? Is there a relationship between the CPU Usage and number of user aka if there are 2 users my application will sky rocket to 60% of memory usage? Or does/Should/How does the server handle this?

    Hello, I have a simple WM7 Page with textbox. Futher, I assigned EventToCommand (RelayCommand) to this textbox, reacting to TextChanged event. For testing pourposes I made additional method TextBox_TextChanged in page's code behing. Both command and TextBox_TextChanged print a message box with the textbox content. Initial value of textbox is ABC. Then I press D and: 1) TextBox_TextChanged prints ABCD. 2) Command prints ABC. D is missing. Why commands is so fast???

  • Disabling multitasking on iPhone 3GS using UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend not working

    Hello I am developing an iPhone app where I don’t want/need the multitasking capability and I want my app to initiate every time I open it. I have set the UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend property in the info.plist and it does work when I test it on my iPhone 4 and in the simulator (which is also an ”iPhone 4”). The app calls applicationDidEnterBackground followed by applicationWillTerminate. However, when testing it on my wifes iPhone 3GS the property seems to be completely ignored and the program gets suspended/resumed. Both phones are running iOS 4.2.1. Someone has also confirmed this issue in another thread, with no solutions unfortunately: iPhone: how to test if UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend is working? Is there something I am missing to make this work? Any other ways to accomplish this? Thanx in advance

As we know Int PK has better performance rather than strings. So SQL server execution plan with INNER JOINS are pretty different Here is an execution plan. As i understand according with execution plan from attached image Int join has better performance because it is taking less resources for Clustered index scan and it is go in two ways, am i right? May be some one may explain this execution plan in more details?

  • WCF REST Does Not Contain All of the Relative File Path

    I have a RESTful WCF 3.5 endpoint as such: System.Security.User.svc This is supposed to represent the namespace of the User class and is desired behavior by our client. I have another endpoint I created for testing called: Echo.svc I am writing an overridden IHttpModule and in my module, I follow what almost everyone does by doing: string path = HttpContext.Current.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath; If I make a call to: http://localhost/services/Echo/test My path variable has a value of '~/echo/test' However, when I make a call to: http://localhost/services/System.Security.User/test My path variable has a value of '~/system.security.user' In my 2nd situation, it is stripping off the '/test' on the end of any endpoint that contains multiple periods. This is undesired behavior and the only solution I have found to fixing this is some ugly string manipulation using the property which does contain the complete URL path: string rawPath = HttpContext.Current.Request.RawUrl; This returns '/services/system.security.user/test'. Does anyone know why my first situation does not return the rest of the URL path for endpoints that contain multiple periods in the name?

    Hi, i'm trying to put an activeX object on an asp-webpage. it already worked good a week ago, but now the object isn't showing up anymore. already made a little asp testing-project....just an asp-page and a activex control, containing a button and a label. but when i call up the page in the browser, there is only a white area with a little icon in the upper left corner, showing a red dot, a green triangle and a blue rectangle.... what does that mean? object not found? object blocked by IE? or what exactly does this icon stand for? i always thoght that an missing object is represented by an empty area with a little red cross in it. =/

  • Adding icon to gcc executable and opening in terminal.

I won't be able to implement any GUI portion in the code right now but I need to deploy it to test users for testing.   • Trying to make my leaflet map work on internet explorer

    I have been tearing my hair out of late trying to get my web map working on internet explorer. It's working flawlessly on every other major browser but none of the content will load in IE. Anyone out there who's good at browser testing that could help out? I know the leaflet javascript api, which I'm using for this project, supports IE in theory. In practice this isn't working out too well...   • make mongrel_rails (localhost:3000) visible to a virtual machine

    I develop rails in ubuntu and i just set up a virtualbox windows xp virtual machine for IE testing. I'd like to be able to run mongrel_rails in ubuntu and then jump into the vm to check it out, so i can jump back, make a change, jump into the vm again, reload the page and test it, etc. Is this possible? In this sort of situation in the past i've had to set up an apache server on my dev machine and run mongrel under that, in order to get an externally visible (ie visible to my local network) ip address that i then paste into the address bar of IE in the vm. Is this really necessary? Is there a simpler way? Can i do something with my /etc/hosts or sites-available files to just make up some arbitrary network address which points to localhost:3000 in ubuntu? Or something? thanks, max

  • UDF function with library dependencies on MySQL 5.1

    I'm having a problem with a MySQL UDF function (mychem.sourceforge.net) that's dependent on a large library (openbabel.org) which is in turn plugin based. The problem is that the format plugins to openbabel doesn't seem to load in MySQL 5.1 and I suspect it might be due to the plugin_dir setting. I have set plugin_dir to /usr/lib/ which is the location for both libmychem.so and libopenbabel.so as well as the directory openbabel that contains the format plugins. Is there a way to turn off the plugin_dir restriction in MySQL (preferably without compiling MySQL from sources) so that I can test this hypothesis or do you have a different idea on what might cause the problem? All this is done on Ubuntu 10.04 (but I had the same kind of problems on 8.04, where I managed to get it working after a lot of steps that I unfortunately have forgotten...) I have turned off apparmor during testing and it doesn't help either.

    Ok, So I am basically trying to get a home server pc up that will provide Domain name services, act as Mail server and web server. I have one static IP, well it's not officially static but hasn't changed in two years so I'll call it static. I have done the following: Configured router NAT/virtual port forward UDP/TCP port 53 to the internal IP of my server 192.168.1.16, in adapter settings specified the manual settings: 192.168.1.16 IP, gateway 192.168.1.1, Subnet: 255.255.255.0 and loopback DNS: 127.0.0.1 Using my public my public IP Checked using http://www.canyouseeme.org/ that port 53 is open and is not being blocked by my ISP. It can see services on this port. Registered Domain name (mydomain.com.au) Updated whois database through the domain registrars site and registered NameServer names: ns0.mydomain.com.au and ns2.mydomain.com.au, both have been associated with my single public IP. (Waited 24 hours) Update the nameserver for mydomain.com.au: primary ns0.mydomain.com.au secondary: ns2.mydomain.com.au (waited 24+ hours) Installed Server 2008 R2, install web server role and DNS role. Webserver works when I enter my public IP into browser of any PC/mobile, get IIS7 welcome page. In DNS server: Created new forward lookup zone: ; ; Database file mydoman.com.au.dns for mydomain.com.au zone. ; Zone version: 10 ; @ IN SOA mydomain.com.au. mydomain.testdomain.com. ( 10 ; serial number 900 ; refresh 600 ; retry 86400 ; expire 3600 ) ; default TTL ; ; Zone NS records ; @ NS ns0.mydomain.com.au. @ NS ns1.mydomain.com.au. ; ; Zone records ; @ A 192.168.1.16 www A 192.168.1.16 The Domain name services will however not work, the whois database updated with ns0.mydomain.com.au etc. but when I type in my site name www.mydomain.com.au from an external machine it will not open site and I can't even ping it (Can't find host) When I check the ns0.mydomain.com.au NS record using a tool Like: http://www.squish.net/dnscheck/ I get: Security: Server ns0.mydomain.com.au (XXX.XXX.XXX.XX <- my public IP) is recursive Domain exists but there is no such record Any ideas, thanks...

This is unicode code point U+0100, hex number 0xc4 0x80, decimal number 196 128, and binary 11000100 10000000. I would like to create a collection of the first 65,535 UTF-8 characters for use in testing applications. These are all unicode characters up to code point U+FFFF (byte3). Is it possible to do something like a for($x=0) loop and then convert the resulting decimal to another base (like hex) which would allow the creation of the matching unicode character?     /I'm working with and testing on a computer that is built with the following: {1 GB RAM (now 1.5 GB), 1.7 GHz Intel Pentium Processor, ATI Mobility Radeon X600 GFX} I need scale / transform controls and make it flow smoothly. Currently I'm manipulating the size and location of a control every 24-33ms (30fps), ±3px. When I add a 'fade' effect to an image, it fades in and out smoothly, but it is only 25x25 px in size. The control is 450x75 px to 450x250 px in size. In 2D games such as Bejeweled 3, the sprites animate with no choppy animation. So as the title would suggest: which is easier/faster on the processor: animating a bitmap (rendering it to the parent control during animation) or animating the control it's self?

    I have a survey web-app that is public facing. I want to set up automated testing with Selenium, but selenium can't capture javascript alerts that we're currently using on the site. I'm thinking about changing our user-facing error notifications to some web 2.0 javascript library so that it is accessible to Selenium. However, I'm not sure how many of our users would be able to experience them properly. How backwards-compatible do I need to be in the present day? I have some code that's going into /etc/rc.local to detect what type of touch screen monitor is plugged in and changes out the xorg.conf before launching X. Here is a small snippet: CURRENT_MONITOR=`ls /dev/usb | grep 'egalax_touch\|quanta_touch'` case $CURRENT_MONITOR in '') CURRENT_MONITOR='none' ;; esac If one of those two touch screens is plugged in, it works just fine. If any other monitor is plugged in, it stops at the "CURRENT_MONITOR=ls /dev/usb | grep 'egalax_touch\|quanta_touch'." For testing I touched two files. One before creating CURRENT_MONITOR and one after CURRENT_MONITOR and only file touched before is created. I'm not a bash programmer so this might be something very obvious.

  • Implications of Fulltext Search over many columns

    Hello, I have a really wide table which includes separate columns for billing address, shipping address, primary address, names, aliases etc. (I can't normalize this table further, and that's not the question here anyways). I'm implementing SQL Server fulltext search, and I'm wondering whether I should limit the search ability to just the primary fields (primary address and names for example), or if I can extend the search ability across all columns without occurring too much of a performance or memory penalty. I've done some basic testing with 10,000 sample rows and it's quite fast but I don't have much experience with fulltext indexing, especially its dictionary internals, so I don't know if the index is going to grow over time, or if there is anything else to consider. Thoughts?
