    Everytime I open Firefox and go to deviantART, the images usually look like this: Rarely they don't, and in Google Chrome they never show up that way. Is it a problem with Firefox or Ubuntu? I've updated my graphics drivers.

I've logged onto the domain controller (Windows Server 2008) and found the option in local policies which is of course locked from any changes. However I can't find the same sort of policies in the group policy manager. Which nodes do I have to expand out to find it?

  • On a local network, are you able to password protect certain folders and how (in windows xp)?

    I have a local network set up for my small office which consists of me, the manager, my wife, the secretary, and a few sales people/others. I would like to share passwords over the network and other such things privately to my wife, the secretary, but would not like the sales people and others to have access to it, yet I need the others to have access to other folders/documents that I'd like to share. How would I go about doing this if not by password? Thanks in advance

    My team is currently looking into hosting for RoR apps, and we're considering RailsPlayground, Linode and SliceHost. We haven't found anyone recommending rails playground, and web of trust seems to caution against it - http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/railsplayground.com I like the fact that they give you a sourcerepo account for free to host and track git repos, etc. The Questions: Is there any reason not to go with RailsPlayground?     For some reason, I upgraded my windows vista to 7 on my acer aspire 5520. The CD/DVD device was missing from my computer. Articles told me to go in device manager and uninstall the device and restart so windows can reinstall it for me. Where in device manager is this driver? Under what category will I find it?

  • Remote Desktop won't maximize

    I use a laptop and I am docking and undocking frequently. Often when I connect to another machine using remote desktop, the screen size gets messed up when I dock again. By "messed up" I mean that it stays the size of my lap top screen (wide screen ratio). Clicking maximize will not get it to go full screen. Any ideas how I can reset this (other than a reboot).

How do I configure the web interface to default to the external IP address of the box instead of its internal LAN IP?

    In my web app, I'm toying with the idea of giving my user the opportunity to select a subdomain of their choosing, so they could select something like: foobar.myapp.com where foobar is their chosen subdomain. What is the proper way to go about setting up something like this? .htaccess? Have some api for writing virtual hosts? The application would still always map to one directory on my sever, I just want to give theme a custom URL.

    On Windows 7, dir or tree can't show unicode characters, even starting cmd with cmd /U So I would press Window Key + R to run something, and type in cmd /U so that the content might handle Unicode. And then using dir or tree /F, the content in Unicode won't show as Unicode. (in Window Explorer (file manager), the Unicode will show) Is there a way to handle it? To get Unicode characters to test your filenames, you can go to http://news.google.com/news?edchanged=1&ned=tw and you will be able to get many Unicode characters there (UTF-8)

  • XP: cannot assign a letter to a FAT32 partition

    I have an external hard disk, where I have created many partitions to use also in Linux. The first two partitions are FAT32. The third is a Truecrypt Partition. I cannot assign a letter to the second partition. When I go to Manage disk and make right clic on the unassigned partition, most of the items are not enables.   • Trouble registering punycode domain!

    Not sure if any of you have experience with this, but I am trying to include the anchor (?) in my domain name (using the appropriate punycode to allow it) but upon registering it I encounter the error that the symbol is not supported by the language I have chosen. Does anyone know what language would support this if I were to continue or even how I would go about doing so or if i can even do so. Thanks

I have been trying to get the audio to play through line-in, to no avail. Would there be a way to make the audio from line-in to output the video game console audio from the computer?   • Annoying Windows Explorer bar present on OEM Preinstalled Windows 7

    We have recently got some preconfigured ready-to-use computers. During some checks, I saw a strange bar located between address bar and toolbar in Windows Explorer. I removed all trialware and Google Toolbar as well, but this bar doesn't go away. What can I do to remove it? EDIT: My personal computer looks like this: Also, cursor changes to when I hover the bar.
