  • How to create a stand alone command line application with Node.js

    I'm trying to find a way to use a command line nodejs application that I created on a computer without node.js installed. In other words how to package my application with node.js inside, in order to avoid the users to have node.js already installed. The tipical use case is: I run the application and the application works using the node core that is provide with the application (or the application checks if there is node.js installed, and if not it donwload and install it automatically). Do you have any idea?

  • I want to learn a new language!

    Hi, I'm a college student majoring in computer science. I know java and will be learning C++ the next couple years at school. I want to add another language to my repertoire and have gotten conflicting advice: Ruby, Python, Perl, JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, among others. I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on the relative value of each of these languages in the job market, the ease of learning of each of the languages, and just personal preferences when it comes to the languages mentioned above.     Hello, I've installed: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) and got the following folders: x86_microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.21022.8_none_bcb86ed6ac711f91 x86_microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.4926_none_508ed732bcbc0e5a I allready uninstalled the redistribute package but they continue overthere. I want to remove them because I want to test my program without installing nothing (I've included those dll's when building it in another computer). So, how can I remove those folders from C:\Windows\winsxs? Thanks in advance :D

  • Device Emulator not recognized in windows when I press cradle

    Hi Experts, Who can help me with this: I am working on Win7 x64, with VS.net 2008. I am developping for pocketpc. When my application is deployed to the device emulator it can't connect to my computer / db server. Both de emulator as well the mobile device center are configured to use DMA. When I cradle the device using device manager, nothing happens. What can I try? Greets, Jasper

    Hey there I'm working on a browser-game and I can't help but wonder about what's the lightest way to make the grid/board on which the game takes place. Right now, as a mere sample, I'll show you this: http://sotkra.com/game/ Now, as the grid gets bigger and bigger, the table and its td's create a very heavy filepage which in turn...sucks in more resources from the browser engine and computer.   • How do I deactivate a specific version of gem?

    Currently I have two versions of rack installed on my computer 1.0.1 and 1.2.1 However, when I tried to push my git to Heroku, it complains You have already activated rack 1.0.1, but your Gemfile requires rack 1.2.1. Consider using bundle exec. (Gem::LoadError) How can I deactivate rack 1.0.1 and activate 1.2.1 instead? (I can't uninstall 1.0.1 since it's under system folder and I don't have the root password)

  • wssql always returning zero rows

    I'm using the windows search 4.0 service (wssql) to find some files, it works fine on my computer but on our server which has two drives C: and D: always returns 0 rows when searching D: Also i'm not sure if it's related but cd d: goes back to c: in the command prompt.

  • Are there any programmable barcode scanners that can call a webservice?

    I am looking at integrating a C# application with a barcode scanner. The last time I did this was with Delphi 1 (win 3.11) using a scanner that plugged in-line into the keyboard cable. Looking around it appears most scanners are USB based these days and assume they emulate keyboard entry. Anybody know of more sophisticated/programmable scanner that can call a webservice or even just do a basic POST/GET this would eliminate the C# application and the computer to support it?

  • Trouble reinstalling Gem after failure

    Yesterday I tried to install Jeweler via Rubygems, however somewhere in the middle of the process I had a power failure, resulting in my computer turning off in the middle of the installation process. Once I got it back up, I tried to reinstall Jeweler, however resulting in an error I've had trouble decoding. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem?     I've noticed that the brightness of computer monitors drastically varies between computers. As such, this changes the look of web pages greatly. Is there a way to use JavaScript to automatically detect how bright (or dark) a users monitor is so that I can adjust my web page colors accordingly? UPDATE Please note that I do not want manual user involvement. I want this detection to be automatic so that users don't realize I dynamically change the color palette automatically based on the brightness/darkness of their monitor.

    I have a computer working as a server with many SQL Server 2005 databases in it since two years ago. Today, I don't know why, when I try to connect locally to any of the databases it gives me that error. It fails even if I'm logged in using Windows Authentication or as 'sa' user. It just wouldn't let me access the databases' info. Could anybody explain me what's going on?

  • IIS web server could not be browse in the LAN, only locally

    Hi, I had installed a new IIS7 on a Win2008. Everything worked perfect on the server, but everytime a computer in the LAN tried to browse the web server the client got an error 401 - No autorizado: acceso denegado debido a credenciales no válidas. No tiene permiso para ver este directorio o esta página con las credenciales que ha proporcionando. The IIS user had full permission in the fily system and on the IIS. Have anyone an idea why this could be happening? Thanks
