• I have to add Weather extension in my gnome3 toolbar

  I want to add a weather extension to my gnome3 toolbar but I cant get anything working. I am using ubuntu 12.10 with gnome3. I tryed to add this sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/gnome3 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions-weather but the last command doest work it says that it cant locate such file. I installed this https://launchpad.net/weather-indicator. But I cant seem to get it to show on the gnome toolbar. It only shows here http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/4108/weatherhl.png. Thanks for help!

Say, if I have defined in the REPL: (define (increase x) (+ 1 x)) (define (multbytwo x) (* 3 x)) ; let us say this was an error (define (multbytwo x) (* 2 x)) I want to save this into an .scm-file with the content: (define (increase x) (+ 1 x)) (define (multbytwo x) (* 2 x)) i.e. the multbytwo function that got defined erraneously shall be "forgotten" due to re-definition. Is this possible?

  Hi, an upstart question (I think I have read all relevant man pages but could not find the answer there): What is the sense of using a "stop on ..." stanza in the definition of a job which is a task? The manuals tell us that such a job, after being started, just waits until its script (or exec stanza) is executed completely, and then stops automatically. Given that, what is the point in using "stop on ..." stanzas in such job definitions? For example, this is the job definition for Upstart's (very important) rc job in Natty 11.04 (leaving out comments and empty lines): start on runlevel [0123456] stop on runlevel [!$RUNLEVEL] export RUNLEVEL export PREVLEVEL console output env INIT_VERBOSE task exec /etc/init.d/rc $RUNLEVEL IMHO, the job, after being started by a runlevel event, will be stopped automatically as soon as /etc/init.d/rc $RUNLEVEL has finished.   I have just started my C++ lecture class. And the teacher has given us the following assignment. Write a program that determines whether a number is even or odd. The logic I would use for the program is. Get input a. Store a % 2 as b. If b is 0, then b is even, else b is odd. The catch though, is that we have to write the program without the use of a if-else statement. I have been thinking on how to approach the problem for the past few hours, but I have no clue what to do. Any hints or suggestions?

  I have recently discovered a website that is a must have for any developer who has struggled with picking the colors for their web site:  http://colorschemedesigner.com/ You get several choices to determine how to specify the colors. This option brings in a complimentary color in various shades along with the main color that you select on the color wheel. You also have the option of specifying various adjustments to the schema. You can make it pastel, more contrast, less contrast, gray tones, etc. You can also view a preview page as a light page or a dark page to see how the colors might be applied.  Once you have everything the way you want it, you can switch over to the final tab and get the color list. Now none of us have an excuse for questionable color combinations.

• A tale of UAC on a Windows 7 Development Machine

  This week I faced an interesting problem on a Windows 7 Development PC. I have run MakeLog (http://commondata.codeplex.com/releases/view/13206) sucessfully on my PC but my colleague could not run it sucessfully. Both of us are local administrators, so what I could do on my PC, he should have been able to do. The cure was to turn UAC completely off and re-boot. Once re-booted, the installation ran without incident. While I would never suggest turning off UAC normally, on development PCs, it is a liability as it stops many normal operations and occasionaly without giving a prompt.

• SharePoint Database security corruption

  Hello, One time I faced an issue where my customer is having an HTTP 500 internal server error while trying to access any SharePoint site. The problem appeared once he moved back and forth with inheriting/breaking inheritance of permissions over different levels in the site collection. "Security corruption in database" sounds very tough for a customer running a production portal with a backup that can make him lose around 3 weeks of valuable data. However, the solution tends not to be that hard, there's an stsadm command that help us detect the corruption and even delete the orphaned items causing the corruption. Follow these steps: a. stsadm -o databaserepair -url http://SITEURL -databasename DBNAME                and it returned some orphaned items.            b. stsadm -o databaserepair -url http://SITEURL -databasename DBNAME -deletecorruption                and it removed the orphaned items.
