    I'm refactoring some client-server code and it uses the terms Response, Result & Reply for the same thing (an answer from the server). And although its not really that important it's become hard to guess which word to use while writing new code, so I'd like to unify the three terms into one and do the appropriate refactoring, but I'm not sure which word is the "best", if there is such a thing. Any suggestions based on precedence and standards towards naming for this case?

    So, I'm grabbing data from a sharepoint 2007 announcements list, and displaying it on another site. I need to make sure that the web part that I created is not displayed for people who don't have permissions for the site I'm getting the data from. How do I "disable" the web part if a user doesn't have permissions? I've tried this.enabled = false in the onload() event, didn't work though.

I saw that you can do it via the bios, but I didn't see this option when going through my BIOS. Is there another way to enabled this feature? Please let me know.   • Create a Counter within a For-Loop?

    I am a novice programmer and apologize upfront for the complicated question. I am trying to create a lexical decision task for experimental research, in which respondents must decide if a series of letters presented on the screen make a "word" or "not a word". Everything works reasonably well except for the bit where I want to randomly select a word (category A) or nonword (category B) for each of 80 trials from a separate input file (input.txt). The randomization works, but some elements from each list (category A or B) are skipped because I have used "round.catIndex = j;" where "j" is a loop for each successive trial. Because some trials randomly select from Category A and other from Category B, "j" does not move successively down the list for each category. Instead, elements from the Category A list may be selected from something like 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 10, and so on (it varies each time because of the randomization). To make a long story short(!), how do I create a counter that will work within the for-loop for each trial, so that every word and nonword from Category A and B, respectively, will be used for the lexical decision task? Everything I have tried thus far does not work properly or breaks the javascript entirely. Below is my code snippet and the full code is available at http://50.17.194.59/LDT/trunk/LDT.js.   • Excel VBA File not Found

    During development of some Excel vba code about every other iteration where I go in and add some code then save the file, the next time I open the thing (it is automatically set to run the code on open) I get a spurious "File not Found" error. To fix it I copy all the code- modules and classes plus the startup code, to a fresh blank excel file save it and it runs fine. This happens in both Excel 2003 and 2007. What is happening here?

  • Why does my Sharepoint page's custom content type change to "Page" when editing?

    I have a custom Sharepoint 2007 site definition with custom content types for the different page layouts. When editing a page using a custom layout from the main "View all contents" tree view, the page content type is fine, but if I view the page directly and edit it from there, the content type gets stripped and replaced with "Page." I can change it back by viewing and editing it from the main list, but not from its subsite home location.

    I'm getting a datetime string in a format like "2009-05-28T16:15:00" (this is ISO 8601, I believe) one hack-ish option seems to be to parse the string using time.strptime and passing the first 6 elements of the touple into the datetime constructor, like: datetime.datetime(*time.strptime("2007-03-04T21:08:12", "%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S")[:6]) I haven't been able to find a "cleaner" way of doing this, is there one?

  • double click and select the path(including '/') in Terminal.app

    I'm using Terminal.app on Mac OS10.6.3, with gnu screen and zsh. What I want to do is, see pwd(or an URL) in Terminal.app and double click on it, and select the whole path, to copy and paste after that. But what I get now is a single directory name, because '/' is not treated as a word. I found that iTerm has a setting to change it(iTerm - Preferences - Mouse - Characters considered part of a word), but is there any way to do this on my environment?
