Elegant solution for multiple forms on single page

I'm building a web application (in Django) that will accept a search criteria and display a report - once the user is satisfied with the results, save both the criteria and a reference to these objects back to the database. The problem I'm having is finding an elegant solution for having 2 forms: Display (GET) the results of their criteria. Enter in some descriptions, and save (POST) everything back to the database. I'm leaning towards AJAX for the GET stuff and a POST for the save, but I wanted to make sure there wasn't a more elegant solution first.

How do I check if selected value of the ListBox is not selected in C#?

This code will display the selected value from the listbox. E.g. if I sellect Item 1 I will get the following output: You have selected Item 1. Label1.Text = "You have selected " + DropDownList1.SelectedValue + "<br />"; But if I don't select anything and click on Submit button, I will get: You have selected What would I need to make it display "You have not selected anything. Please select at least 1 item." UPDATE: I am using ASP.NET WebForms.

Application freezes when performing help file search

I have a large C# application and a help file in *.chm format. When I press F1 to display this help file and select "Search" tab, type something and click "List Topics" button, both the help window and the entire application freeze. What's interesting when I simply open the *.chm file in the Windows Explorer, the search functionality works brilliantly. In order to display the help file from my application, I am executing: Help.ShowHelp(this, helpFileName); This method is executed from within the main form of the application on the UI thread.

How to refresh a parent page #Rails

Hi Guys, I have the fllowing requirement, I have a model called Task to display user tasks 1 . Link to add a new task (in the tasks index page) 2 . when a user click the link, 'tasks/new' action will open up inside a popup 3 . when the user save the new task, I want to close 'new task' popup and refresh the parent page 'tasks/index' so that new task will display I guess, i will have to execute a page reload java script at the end of 'tasks/create' action. make img height 100% of td

I'm creating an HTML email and since background images can't be used on anything but <body> thought I could get around this by making a border image 100% height within a cell. Perhaps it was wishful thinking? I've searched at the solutions that worked in the past no longer work in modern browsers. Is there any special trick to making this happen without setting a hard height for the cell? Struts 1 - problem in showing ActionMessages through a JSP page

I am using Struts 1.3.10. I am trying to display ActionMessage and ActionError set by Action class through a JSP page. The problem is that the ActionErrors are displaying well but ActionMessages are not displaying. When I debug the application, I found that the messages (reference variable of ActionMessages) contains messages. I also saved those messages through saveMessages(request, messages) method of Action class. So, I think that the problem is in the JSP code through which I am trying to display those messages. 'Advanced' Console Application

Hi all, I'm not sure if this question has been answered elsewhere and I can't seem to find anything through google that isn't a "Hello World" example... I'm coding in C# .NET 4.0. I'm trying to develop a console application that will open, display text, and then wait for the user to input commands, where the commands will run particular business logic. For example: If the user opens the application and types "help", I want to display a number of statements etc etc. I'm not sure how to code the 'event handler' for user input though. How can I center a box of unknown width in CSS?

I have this html: <div class="object-box"> <img ... /> <span class="caption">This is the caption</span> </div> Which is accompanied with this CSS: .object-box .caption, .object-box img { display: block; } .object-box { border: 1px solid; } I would like the surrounding div to shrink-wrap to its contents. I can achieve this by using float: ... or display: inline-block. However, I'd also like it to be centered on the page, using margin: auto. The two approaches don't seem to be compatible. Is it possible to create such a shrink-wrapped, centered container, without adding a wrapper element?

Flex 3 - Full unicode support fonts and CSS

Hi! I'm developping a web application that will be used either in Europe or in Asia (specially Japan -Hiragana, Kanji and Katana-, China and Korea). I'm using the following fonts: - ericssonga628.TTF - HelveticaNeueLTStd-Lt.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-LtEx.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-Bd.otf - HelveticaNeueLTStd-BdEx.otf When I tried to display Japanese characters, I don't get anything. I guess these fonts don't support East Asian characters... Do you know of any equivalent fonts? Also, I was thinking of creating a CSS for each language (or pack of languages) when the user changes the display language. For example, if the user selects "japanese", I'll use the japanese stylesheet. However, how do I switch from a CSS to another? Thanks in advance for your answers. Regards,

How do a search a table for similar records and displaying count - Ruby on Rails

I have created a table in my Ruby on Rails application that I am building called Tags. It is a blog application so I allow the user to associate tags with a post and do this through a :posts, :has_many = tags and Tag belongs_to :post association. Now that I have my Tags table I am trying to see how I would render the view such that it displays the tag and tag count. (it should be noted that I am trying to render this in the /views/posts/index.html.erb file). For instance, if there are 10 entries in the Tag table for tag_name Sports. How can I display Sports (10) in the view. I am not looking to do this for a specific tag but rather, somehow search the table, combine like tags and display a list of all tags with counts next to them. (I really want these to be a link to a list of posts that contain that tag but I learned early on only to ask one question at a time). Hope that makes sense.

Remove Attributes onmouseover and onmouseout

Hello all, I am trying to make use of JQuery's remove attribute like this: $('#rom-img_1').removeAttr('mouseover'); $('#rom-img_2').removeAttr('mouseout'); However, it does not remove the effects of the events as the events are still triggered on mouseover and on mouseout. I have tried adding "on" before the events names too but JQuery doesn't use it like that. Why isn't this working and how can I remove those attributes. Hello to all, i'd like to substitute the default preferences setting activity (vertical, icon-title pair list) with a grid view that better fit a large landscape display. About, let's say, the audio preferences, i add an icon to a GridView and, on item click event, i use this code startActivityForResult(new Intent(android.provider.Settings.ACTION_SOUND_SETTINGS), 0); Is it possible to get the default settings icon? If i could use an ipotetic getDrawable(android.R.drawable.default_icon_for_audio_preferences_settings), I would to maintain the default icon also in my preferences grid. A preferences provider exists? Looking at my development device preferences i can see Wireless, call, audio, display and so on. I have to add the same preferences to my grid because i know a priori about their existence or there is a provider that can supply me this array? Thanks in advance L.

Pass form data from block to a page view in Drupal

I am using the location module and views module for a postcode search, which works fine in a page display using views. However I want the user to be able to enter their postcode into a block on the homepage and clicking submit my module sends them to the page created in views and the postcode is set as a session S_SESSION['postcode'] before sending to this page, next I want the location page to load but using the session to display the locations automatically. Any ideas I am using hook_form_submit() and inside that declaring the $form_state as a session and then using $form_state['redirect'] to sent to the views page path.

Possible to have empty values with Html For Helpers such as Html.TextBoxFor()?

Hi Is it possible to have to make a html for helper in asp.net mvc 2.0 have a default value of "empty string" Like if I do this Html.TextBoxFor( u => u.ProductName) would render to <input id ="ProductName" name="ProdcutName" type="text" value="Jim" /> Now I don't want the textbox to display jim. I want it to display nothing. <input id ="ProductName" name="ProdcutName" type="text" value="" /> I tried to do this Html.TextBoxFor( u => u.ProductName, new { @value = " "}) but that seems to do nothing. So how can I do this. I hope you can do something like this otherwise I think these new helpers have a great flaw since now I need to use like javascript to remove them since I hardly ever want a default value in the textbox especially when I have a label right beside the textbox saying what it is.

wrap text around image control in C#.Net

Hi, I am working on C#.DotNet windows application project, here i am using Infragistics control. In this project i want to add image over text control. This image contains two portion, 35% of image have white color another 65% of image have green color.In this image 2nd portion(green color) i have to display dynamic string , this string size may dynamically updating. But this string dont go first portion(white color) of image. For that i am using UltraLabel control. I have add image in UltraLabel ImageBackground property and TextHAlign set as Right. But here small 15 charecter string means appear only second portion(green color), 20 charecter string means appeaer second & first portion. I don't want to display first portion of image. Thanks

Weird behavior in referring to global variable. Is this a bug in javascript? Surely it isn't!

Consider the following piece of code. <html> <body> <script> var x = 5; //globally declared function showX() { alert("x="+x); //trying to display global value var x=10; //trying to create and initialize a local x } </script> <input type = "button" value="Show X" onclick="showX()"> </body> </html> The alert statement shows 'x=undefined'. And doesn't print the global value of x as expected. An equivalent java code would display 5! So, is it a bug? If not then how does one explain that behavior?

Mixing expressions and expression language (<%= %> inside of c:if)

I need to access some constants in my jsp, and sadly the EL does not offer any functionality for it. There are some options like the unstandard tag library, but I'd like to keep it a bit more standard. I tried: <%@ page import = "com.jackdane.Constants"%> <c:if test="${object.display == '<%=com.jackdane.Constants.YES %>}'"> //some display logic </c:if> But that doesn't appear to do the trick. It's been a while since I've used an expression so I might have made an error. Any input is appreciated. Edit: To clarify, the constants class is not in my control. It's inside a jar file that I recieved. It contains no getters/setters. Just private static final Strings.

Drupal, Views: header doesn't accept PHP..

hi, I'm using Views for some nodes, and I want to display a different View title according to which taxonomy tags are selected in my filter. I already have taxonomy field for each node in my view. But this is not what I need. I basically need to display all the currently filtered tags on the top of my view. I was wondering if I can solve adding some line with php, how ? Thanks Update: I'm now using the Views Header field in Views settings, but it only processes html code, not php, so I cannot add taxonomy terms. Is it because of my CCK Editor settings ? thanks

how to call windows paint event from child thread

If I am wrong then please correct me as I am new in this. I have one thread which display image captured from webcam on a windows created using CreateWindowEx() function. Now when i execute my program I can see that my paint code (in WindowProc()) in never reached (called InvalidateRect() from child thread to redraw), checked using breakpoint. Actually frame capture and display is being done in thread and I think because its in child thread and Window is in Main thread that is why its not able to call paint event. Can you help me on this
