• RhinoMocks Testing callback method

  Hi All I have a service proxy class that makes asyn call to service operation. I use a callback method to pass results back to my view model. Doing functional testing of view model, I can mock service proxy to ensure methods are called on the proxy, but how can I ensure that callback method is called as well? With RhinoMocks I can test that events are handled and event raise events on the mocked object, but how can I test callbacks? • Flex: How to refresh/repaint a chart?

  I have a chart for which the data is provided asynchronously via a CallResponder (used with a RemoteObject). However, it does not seem possible to update the chart with the data after it has been initially drawn. I have tried: Firing a collection modified event after assigning it to chart.dataProvider calling invalidateDisplayList (tried with all components) binding the chart data provider to a variable, and doing the above. changing the view state on the last line of resultHandler. None of them worked. When I fetch the data and cache it locally, then use it to call init synchronously, the chart displays correctly. What am I missing here?

• Can the public ssh key from my local machine be used to access two different users on a remote serve

  I have an new ubuntu (hardy 8.04) server, it has two users, User1 and User2. User1 is listed in sudoers. I appended my public ssh key (my local machine's public key local/Users/nick/.ssh/id_rsa.pub) to authorized_keys in remote_server/home/user1/.ssh/authorized_keys, changed the permissions on user1/.ssh/ to 700 and user1/.ssh/authorized_keys to 600 and both file and folder are owned my User1. Then added I User1 to sshd_config (AllowUsers User1). This works and I can login into User1 debug1: Offering public key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_rsa debug1: Server accepts key: pkalg ssh-rsa blen 277 debug1: Authentication succeeded (publickey). debug1: channel 0: new [client-session] debug1: Entering interactive session. Last login: Mon Mar 15 09:51:01 2010 from ..*.* I then copied the authorized_keys file remote_server/home/user1/.ssh/authorized_keys to remote_server/home/user2/.shh/authorized_keys and changed the permissions and ownership and added User2 to AllowUsers in sshd_config (AllowUsers User1 User2). Now when I try to login to User2 it will not authenticate the same public key. debug1: Offering public key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_rsa debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey debug1: Trying private key: /Users/nick/.ssh/identity debug1: Trying private key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_dsa debug1: No more authentication methods to try. • C# Working with Locking and Threads

  Work on this small test application to learn threading/locking. I have the following code, I would think that the line should only write to console once. However it doesn't seem to be working as expected. Any thoughts on why? What I'm trying to do is add this Lot object to a List, then if any other threads try and hit that list, it would block. • VBA-Sorting the data in a listbox, sort works but data in listbox not changed

  A listbox is passed, the data placed in an array, the array is sort and then the data is placed back in the listbox. The part that does work is putting the data back in the listbox. Its like the listbox is being passed by value instead of by ref. Here's the sub that does the sort and the line of code that calls the sort sub. • Android HttpClient and HTTPS

  Hi all, I'm new to implementing HTTPS connections in Android. Essentially, I'm trying to connect to a server using the org.apache.http.client.HttpClient. I believe, at some point, I'll need to access the application's keystore in order to authorize my client with a private key. But, for the moment, I'm just trying to connect and see what happens; I keep getting an HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request error. I can't seem to make heads or tails of this despite many examples (none of them seem to work for me). My code looks like this (the BODY constant is XmlRPC): private void connect() throws IOException, URISyntaxException{ HttpPost post = new HttpPost(new URI(PROD_URL)); HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); post.setEntity(new StringEntity(BODY)); HttpResponse result = client.execute(post); Log.d("MainActivity", result.getStatusLine().toString()); } So, pretty simple.   Greetings I am developing a non-webapplication using Spring+Hibernate. My question is how the HibernateDaoSupport handles lazy-loading , because after a call do DAO , the Session is closed. • Websphere 7 EntityManagerFactory creation problem

  Hello, I'm working on a maven project which uses seam 2.2.0, hibernate 3.5.0-CR-2 as JPA provider, DB2 as database server and Websphere 7 as application server. Now I'm facing de following problem: In my EJBs that are seen also as SEAM components I want to use the EntityManager from EJB container (@PersistenceContext private EntityManager em) not Seam's EntityManager (@In private EntityManager em). But this is the problem, I cannot obtain an EntityManager using @PersistenceContext. On server logs it sais that it cannot create an EntityManagerFactory and gets a ClassCastException: java.lang.ClassCastException: org.hibernate.ejb.HibernatePersistence incompatible with javax.persistence.spi.PersistenceProvider After a lot of debugging and searching on forums I'm assuming that the problem is that Websphere doesn't use the Hibernate JPA provider. Has anyone faced this problem and has a solution? I configured already WAS class loader order for my application to load the classes with the application class loader first and I\ve packed all necessary jars in application ear as written in: WAS InfoCenter: Features for EJB 3.0 development . If necessary I'll post my persistence.xml, components.xml files and stack trace. • Enum "does not have a no-arg default constructor" with Jaxb and cxf

  A client is having an issue running java2ws on some of their code, which uses & extends classes that are consumed from my SOAP web services. Confused yet? :) I'm exposing a SOAP web service (JBoss5, Java 6). Someone is consuming that web service with Axis1 and creating a jar out of it with the data types and client stubs. They are then defining their own type, which extends one of my types. My type contains an enumeration. class MyParent { private MyEnumType myEnum; // getters, settters for myEnum; } class TheirChild extends MyParent { ... } When they are running java2ws on their code (which extends my class), they get Caused by: com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.IllegalAnnotationsException: 2 counts of IllegalAnnotationExceptions net.foo.bar.MyEnuMType does not have a no-arg default constructor. this problem is related to the following location: at net.foo.bar.MyEnumType at public net.foo.bar.MyEnumType net.foo.bar.MyParent.getMyEnum() The enum I've defined is below. This is now how it comes out after being consumed, but it's how I have it defined on the app server: @XmlType(name = "MyEnumType") @XmlEnum public enum MyEnumType { Val1("Val1"), Val2("Val2") private final String value; MyEnumType(String v) { value = v; } public String value() { return value; } public static MyEnumType fromValue(String v) { if (v == null || v.length() == 0) { return null; } if (v.equals("Val1")) { return MyEnumType.Val1; } if (v.equals("Val2")) { return MyEnumType.Val2; } return null; } } I've seen things online and other posts, like (this one) regarding Jaxb's inability to handle Lists or things like that, but I'm baffled about my enum. I'm pretty sure you can't have a default constructor for an enum (well, at least a public no-arg constructor, Java yells at me when I try), so I'm not sure what makes this error possible. Any ideas? Also, the "2 counts of IllegalAnnotationsExceptions" may be because my code actually has two enums that are written similarly, but I left them out of this example for brevity.

• Amazon EC2 RSA key stopped authenticating - Permission denied (publickey)

  Authenticating to our Ubuntu EC2 instance worked fine until a little while ago. All of a sudden, the key is being rejected. When we create a new instance with the keypair, we're able to connect to the instance perfectly, so it appears to be an issue with the existing instance. Port 22 is open. Any suggestions on what to look at from a configuration standpoint so we can fix this? Any thoughts on how we can get into the box? Here is the SSH debug output. Is there anything obviously amiss? • Capture keystrokes (e.g., function keys) while a messagebox is up

  We have a large WinForms app, and there is a built-in bug reporting system that can be activated during testing via the F5 Key. I am capturing the F5 key with .Net's PreFilterMessage system. This works fine on the main forms, modal dialog boxes, etc. Unfortunately, the program also displays windows messageboxes when it needs to. When there is a bug with that, e.g., wrong text in the messagebox or it shouldn't be there, the messagefilter isn't executed at all when the messagebox is up! I realize I could fix it by either rewriting my own messagebox routine, or kicking off a separate thread that polls GetAsyncKeyState and calls the error reporter from there. However I was hoping for a method that was less of a hack. • What Is The Best Database For Delphi Desktop Applications That Supports Stored Procedures?

  I started with Turbo Pascal 3, went to TP5, Bought TP6 called Borland the next day and downgraded to TP5.5. Bought Delphi 3, and now have Delphi 5 Enterprise. I sort of lost interest in writing code about 4-5 years ago for two reasons; Spent all day writing ASP & SQL for someone else. PC Techniques magazine went away. I've got a few programs in the shareware market that are solid performers but are in need of serious updating. I love Delphi or did when it was Borland (before Borland bought DBase and all the other crap), I'd like to salvage as much of my D5E code as possible but I doubt I can. I plan on upgrading to Delphi 2010. My next software release needs to interact with a database. I'm very proficient with MS Sql and like to put all of the database code in stored procedures. What is the best database choice that interacts well with Delphi, allows stored procedures and is so easy to deploy that even the Geico gecko could deploy it? 10/25/2009 18:53 PM EST Re-Opened After Reading Install Docs for Delphi 2010 I downloaded a trial version of Delphi 2010 and unzipped the install. I've been reading the install docs included in the package. MSSQL driver requires the installation of the SQL Native Client. SQL Native Client 2008 is required for dbxmss.dll. SQL Native Client 2005 is required for dbxmss9.dll I checked my machine to see if SQL Native Client is installed. Nope. I wasn't done reading the docs so I made a note to install SQL Native Client. I googled dbxmss.dll and dbxmss9.dll and found a very interesting thread on the Embarcadero forums. read thread here. After reading this thread and some careful thought I don't think I will be using Microsoft SQL Express. I can't rely on my customers having the right drivers installed. So, I'm back to looking for a different solution. If I'm selling a $40 product to the general masses I need to have a bulletproof solution that doesn't require my brand new customer to update their machine before my software will work.

• Jruby Gems-in-a-jar issue

  Hi all, I am trying to write some code in ruby (using jruby) to be compiled to java bytecode with jrubyc and deployed to a remote machine where it will be run on the JVM (no ruby available there). Everything works fine as long as I am happy to stick with the standard jruby library. As explained on the jruby website, I simply copy the jruby-complete.jar library to the remote machine and include it in the classpath at runtime. I fire my compiled script and it works: cool! The problems start when I need some other libraries (typically rubygems) to run my script. I am aware of cool stuff like rawr, -which I successfully tested- to put together all you need in a single package. However that is not the solution I am looking for: I will have many small scripts to run independently and I don't want each of them to grow to at least 10 MB just because I insanely include the jruby-complete.jar in each of them. What I would like is to compile a .jar for each of the libraries that I will need to use, put all of them in a common folder on the remote machine and include them at runtime in the classpath when I run my compiled jruby scripts on the JVM. This said, I tried to follow the instructions here: http://blog.nicksieger.com/articles/2009/01/10/jruby-1-1-6-gems-in-a-jar I tried exactly the example shown there, with the "chronic" gem. Going step by step: Install the gem locally: java -jar jruby-complete-1.1.6.jar -S gem install -i ./chronic chronic --no-rdoc --no-ri Package it into a jar: jar cf chronic.jar -C chronic . • Checking if a RoutedEvent has any handlers

  I've got a custom Button class, that always performs the same action when it gets clicked (opening a specific window). I'm adding a Click event that can be assigned in the button's XAML, like a regular button. When it gets clicked, I want to execute the Click event handler if one has been assigned, otherwise I want to execute the default action. The problem is that there's apparently no way to check if any handlers have been added to an event. I thought a null check on the event would do it: if (Click == null) { DefaultClickAction(); } else { RaiseEvent(new RoutedEventArgs(ClickEvent, this));; } ...but that doesn't compile. The compiler tells me that I can't do anything other than += or -= to an event outside of the defining class, event though I'm trying to do this check INSIDE the defining class. I've implemented the correct behavior myself, but it's ugly and verbose and I can't believe there isn't a built-in way to do this. I must be missing something.   I'm looking for some pointers on implementing Custom Events in VB.NET (Visual Studio 2008, .NET 3.5). I know that "regular" (non-custom) Events are actually Delegates, so I was thinking of using Delegates when implementing a Custom Event. On the other hand, Andrew Troelsen's "Pro VB 2008 and the .NET 3.5 Platform" book uses Collection types in all his Custom Events examples, and Microsoft's sample codes match that line of thought. So my question is: what considerations should I have when choosing one design over the other? What are the pros and cons for each design? Which of these resembles the inner-implementation of "regular" events? Below is a sample code demonstrating the two designs. • Custom IIdentity and passing data from an attribute to a controller

  Here's my scenario: I've successfully created a custom IIdentity that I pass to a GenericPrincipal. When I access that IIdentity in my controller I have to cast the IIdentity in order to use the custom properties. example: public ActionResult Test() { MyCustomIdentity identity = (MyCustomIdentity)User.Identity; int userID = identity.UserID; ...etc... } Since I need to do this casting for nearly every action I would like to wrap this functionality in an ActionFilterAttribute. I can't do it in the controller's constructor because the context isn't initialized yet. My thought would be to have the ActionFilterAttribute populate a private property on the controller that I can use in each action method. example: public class TestController : Controller { private MyCustomIdentity identity; [CastCustomIdentity] public ActionResult() { int userID = identity.UserID; ...etc... } } Question: Is this possible and how? Is there a better solution? I've racked my brain trying to figure out how to pass public properties that are populated in an attribute to the controller and I can't get it.

  Hi I have a DataGridView control and I want to populate it with data. The class of my collection does not contain only simple types that I can map to columns using DataPropertyName. This is the class that is contained in collection. class MyClass { public String Name; MyOtherClass otherclass; } class MyOtherClass { public String Name; } Now I am binding properties of MyClass to columns col1.DataPropertyName = "Name" // Ok col2.DataPropertyName = "otherclass" // Not OK - I will have empty cell The problem is that I want to display otherclass.Name field. But if I try to write col2.DataPropertyName = "otherclass.Name" I get empty cell. I tried to manually set the column private void DealAssetListControl_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { dgvDealAssets.AutoGenerateColumns = false; dgvDealAssets.DataSource = DealAssetList.Instance.Values.ToList(); // iterate through rows and set the column manually foreach (DataGridViewRow row in dgvDealAssets.Rows) { row.Cells["Column2"].Value = ((DealAsset)row.DataBoundItem).otherclass.Name; } But this foreach cycle takes about minute to complete (2k elements). • Java Generics: Dealing with an intermediate unknown type

  I am trying to figure out a way to deal with a particular problem in a type safe manner, or to put it more specifically without any explicit casts. I have a class that takes in a generic request and returns a generic response like such: public class RetrievalProcessor<Req extends Request, Resp> implements RequestProcessor<Req, Resp>{ private Dao<Req> dao; private RawResponseTransformer<Resp> transformer; @Override public Resp process(Req request) { return transformer.transformResponse(dao.retrieveRawResponse(request)); } } My problem is the following. My Dao object can be many different things REST, JDBC, some other proprietary object. I can't be certain of the type of object that the Dao will return. I do know the type of object my caller would like and that is the Resp type on the generic, and the job of the RawResponseTransformer is to transform that Dao response into something that the caller can consume. The problem I have is I can't figure out a way that feels clean to do that. I have considered putting the intermediate type as part of the definition of the class, but it doesn't seem like the caller should know, or really care, what the intermediate form is. Hoping someone might have a good clean idea for handling this.
