• Combine multiple dataset columns to one dataset

  I have multiple datasets that I would like to combine into one. There is a common ID field that can be associated to each row. Calling Merge on the dataset will add additional rows to the dataset, but I would like to combine the additional columns. There are too many fields to do this in one query and therefore would make it unmanageable. Each individual query would be able to handle ordering to ensure the data is placed in the correct row. For Example lets say I have two queries resulting in two datasets: SELECT ID, colA, colB SELECT colC, colD The resulting dataset would look like ID colA colB colC colD 1 a b c d 2 e f g h Any ideas on ways to accomplish this?

• Resizing and rotating an image in Android

  I'm trying to rotate and resize an image in Android. The code I have is as follows, (taken from this tutorial): Bitmap originalSprite = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.android); int orgHeight = a.getHeight(); int orgWidth = a.getWidth(); //Create manipulation matrix Matrix m = new Matrix(); // resize the bit map m.postScale(.25f, .25f); // rotate the Bitmap by the given angle m.postRotate(180); //Rotated bitmap Bitmap rotatedBitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(originalSprite, 0, 0, orgWidth, orgHeight, m, true); return rotatedBitmap; The image seems to rotate just fine, but it doesn't scale like I expect it to. I've tried different values, but the image only gets more pixelized as I reduce the scale values, but remains that same size visually; whereas the goal I'm trying to achieve is to actually shrink it visually. I'm not sure what to do at this point, any help is appreciated.

  Hello everyone. Asking for your help on this Oracle query. It's giving me the error 2 "ORA-00905: missing keyword". It was working fine before I added the LEFT JOIN statement. • Freeware Programmer Calculator

  There have been lots of times in the past where a good programmer-oriented calculator would've saved me a lot of time. Lately, I've been doing quite a lot of bit manipulation, and having to do build/run to debug my calculations feels really slow. I've looked for something like this in the past, but found nothing that worked very well. The only thing that comes close is this one from AnalogX, but I can't get it to work or really do anything on my vista box which is where I'm doing most of my work at the moment. (btw - please send comments about my vista usage here;). Anyway, I'm looking for something for simple calculations using a C-like syntax with support for proper precenedce, operators, etc. Bonus points for cross-platform. The python interpreter was a great idea and is totally cross-platform. For windows only SpeQ is amazing. Thanks for the suggestions.

• Is there a 2d sprite library for webgl?

  I am looking to build a 2d game using WebGL. I want the hardware acceleration that WebGL provides and I cannot get this from the 2D canvas context in the canvas tag. With that said, is there a tutorial on creating 2D sprites using webGL? Or, better yet, is there a 2D sprite library for WebGL? Ideally, I'm looking for something like cocos2d ported to WebGL. Not surprisingly, all of the demos, tutorials and libraries I have found for WebGL focus on 3D manipulation. Are there any WebGL libraries that support 2D sprites?

• Building an automatic web crawler

  I am building a web application crawler that's meant not only to find all the links or pages in a web application, but also perform all the allowed actions in the app (such as pushing buttons, filling forms, notice changes in the DOM even if they did not trigger a request etc.) Basically, this is a kind of "browser simulator". I find WebKit a good option to implement my crawler, since it has all the needed technology (Javascript engine, parsers, DOM manipulation, etc.) but it seems kind of an overkill being a fully featured browser. Is there any toolkit you know that can provide the above functionality?

  I am basically looking to bind a search query to a gridview which is nice, but this must be done by a users input query (sort of like a search function). I can get single values and rows returned, but how would I get it to search all columns in my database for the inputted values and return it? I want to fetch some records from database i.e. select * from tblDepartment where department_id in ( select department_id from tblMap where Guest_Id = @GuestId ) I have taken two DataTable. i.e. tblDepartment, tblMap Now I want to fetch this result and want to store it in third DataTable. How can I do this. • hibernate and ehcache replication

  Hi, I am working on a cache replication solution between nodes Node A - master node = Hibernate + Database + Ehcache as secondary cache Node B - regional node= Ehcache as prmiary cache. no Hibernate Node B is used only as near-by cache for query. Now I am updating data (Say SudentInfo) in Node A, it gets persisted and cached correctly. On replication side (I am using JMS) it sends a message to Node B. But the problem is, the message it sends is of instance CacheEntry(deep Inside Element), there is no way to resurrect the original object (StudentInfo). What I got in node B is CacheEntry with some attributes of Students but not actually an Student Object. Please note that I don't need Hibernate session/persistence in Node B, node B is only for fast query, persistence is done through Node A. So has anybody tried any solution like this? Is there any way to convert CacheEntry to actual object? or Tell ehcache to replicate original object rather than CacheEntry. Thanks for the help

• How do I use WMI with Delphi without drastically increasing the application's file size?

  I am using Delphi 2010, and when I created a console application that prints "Hello World", it takes 111 kb. If I want to query WMI with Delphi, I add WBEMScripting_TLB, ActiveX, and Variants units to my project. If I perform a simple WMI query, my executable size jumps to 810 kb. I Is there anyway to query WMI without such a large addition to the size of the file? Forgive my ignorance, but why do I not have this issue with C++? • Entity Framework 4 relationship management in POCO Templates - More lazy than FixupCollection?

  I've been taking a look at EF4 POCO templates in beta 2. The FixupCollection looks fine for maintaining the model correctness after updating the relationship collection property (i.e. product.Orders it would set the order.Product reference ). But what about support for handling the scenario when some of those Order objects are removed from the context? The use-case of maintaining cascading deletes in the in-memory model. The old Typed DataSet model used to do this by performing the query through the container to derive the relationship results. Like the DataSet, this would require a reference to the ObjectContext inside the entity class so that it could query the top-level Order collection. Better support for Separation of Concerns in the ObjectContext would be required. It looks like EF is not suited to this use-case that DataSets did out of the box.... am I right?

I often use this pattern: collectionofsomestuff //here it's LinqToEntities .Select(something=>new{something.Name,something.SomeGuid}) .ToArray() //From here on it's LinqToObjects .Select(s=>new SelectListItem() { Text = s.Name, Value = s.SomeGuid.ToString(), Selected = false }) Perhaps I'd split it over a couple of lines, but essentially, at the ToArray point, I'm effectively enumerating my query and storing the resulting sequence so that I can further process it with all the goodness of a full CLR to hand. As I have no interest in any kind of manipulation of the intermediate list, I use ToArray over ToList as there's less overhead. I do this all the time, but I wonder if there is a better pattern for this kind of problem?

• Images missing after moving Django to new server

  I'm moving Django project to new server. I'm newbie in Django, and I don't know where should be upload folder. There are all images which should be displayed on website. In config file I haven't seen upload folder I could specify, so I'm guessing it always should be the same location for django projects or I just can't find it. Locations are saved in database. When I've put uploaded files into media folder, so url was like domain.co.uk/media/upload/media/images/year/month/day/image_name.ext and the same is on the old website, images on website ware still missing. All images are visible if I put url by hand, but django doesn't seems to see files. For instance, lets say I have a Car model class and want to add one price attribute (database column) per currency, given a list of currencies. What is the best way to do this? I had an approach that I thought would work, but it didn't exactly.   I have a fat VB.NET Winform client that is using the an old asmx style web service. Very often, when I perform query that takes a while, I get the subject error. The error happenes The error seems to occur in < 1 min, which is far less that the web service timeout value that I have set or the timeout value on the ADO Command object that is performing the query within the web server. It seems to occur whenever I am performing a large query that expects to return a lot of rows or when I am sending up a large amount of data to the web service.   Hello! I'm diving into the world of prolog headfirst but I seem to have hit shallow water! I'm looking at database manipulation in prolog with regards to this tutorial:Learn Prolog Now! It states that I can see my database by entering listing So i tried it and it should basically output everything in my .P file(facts, rules), but this is what i get, here are my sequence of commands: ? consult('D:\Prolog\testfile.P'). [testfile.P loaded] ? listing. library_directory(C:blahblahpathtoXSB) library_directory(C:blahblahXSBpath) {this is listed around 5 times)} shouldn't this command display what is in testfile.P, according to the tutorial? also, after consult testfile.P i should be ableto use assert to add more facts but it doesnt actually change anything in the testfile.P..? any ideas

• Specifying culture for http request/reponse

  I have a ReSTful web service which needs to parse culture-sensitive data from the request. This data could either be in an XML body or part of the query string. Is there any acepted way of determining which culture the data is being sent in (and by extension the culture in which the response should be sent)? One option is simply to specify to the clients the culture in which all requests should be sent. A friendlier option seems to be to allow the client to specify the culture. I've considered: a) using the accept-language http header to encode this information. b) using the xml:lang attribute for XML POSTs, and an extra field for query strings (e.g. ...&culture=en-GB) http://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-accept-lang-locales warns of limitations in using the accept-language header, but most of the warnings seem to center around requests originating from browsers. In my case the requests will come from other applications. All advice greatly appreciated!

  I'm in the process of adding 'pretty' URLs to an existing CMS, the menu is auto generated and the new 'pretty' URLs are to be handled independently as a seperate module. The auto-generated menu allways has URLs that look like this index.php?menu_id=n which ofcourse we would like to see as eg. /news or /products I'm currently at the point where I have to decide if I'm going to rewrite all output of the current system or simply put in a hook where I redirect to the 'pretty' URL. To put it differently, should i connect to the database, fetch all 'pretty' URLs, run through the existing output from WYSIWYG's, news modules, forums etc. and do some str_replace or other string manipulation (which I think would be a rather tedious and boring process), or should I simply hook in and throw a 301 redirecting index.php?menu_id=3 to /news will Google (or other search engines) penalize me for having 301's in the menus?

• Storable Geocoding/reverse Geocoding services

  Im currently looking into an easy way to query and store Latitude/Longitude for a given address. There are a plentitude of services out there, but none actually allows me to store the data I retieve (i.e. Google Maps API TOS, Yahoo! Maps API TOS). As I wan't to use them for a distance search I can't really query the data on the fly. Are there any services that acutally allow to store the location you get for an adress? And I want to do it more or less worldwide. (As a side question, I might need the other way around soon, getting from latitude/longitude to an address or place name, but this falls under the same terms as the above).
