  Hi There, I have a form that shows results from a database query, these results can have many other assets ajoined to them and I wanting to find a way of showing how many assets each elemement has. For example my table is of areas of england an other table has where the users live I current have this code, $this->db->select('*'); $this->db->from('places'); $this->db->join('users, places.place_id = user.place_id, left'); $this->db->get(); The issue I am having is getting the query to return the place name and the number of users living in that place, it is possible?

  Currently, I have an HQL query that returns all Members who possess ANY Award from a set of specified Awards: from Member m left join m.awards as a where a.name in ("Trophy","Ribbon"); What I now need is HQL that will return all Members who possess ALL Awards specified in the set of Awards. So, assuming this data: Joe has Trophy, Medal Sue has Trophy, Ribbon Tom has Trophy, Ribbon, Medal The query above would return Joe, Sue, and Tom because all three possess at least one of Trophy or Ribbon. But I need to return only Sue and Tom, because they are the only ones who possess all of the specified awards (Trophy and Ribbon).   hi, I have an aspx page on which I have 2 static jquery tabs.Upon clicking on a button avaiable on one of these tabs,I would like to add a new tab dynamically,which gets its content loaded from another aspx page.I've also tried with the following sample http://jquery-ui.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/demos/tabs/manipulation.html I've downloaded jquery-ui-1.8rc3.custom zip file and tried to add the above page with the relevant script,css files to my asp.net website and run,but it does not seem to work.Also I do not want to have a dialog opening and asking the user to enter the tab title as in the above sample.   What do I want to achieve: I want to perform some time consuming operations from my MDI winforms application (C# - .NET). An MDI child form may create the thread with the operation, which may take long time (from 0.1 seconds, to even half hour) to complete. In the meantime I want the UI to respond to user actions, including manipulation of data in some other MDI child form. When the operation completes, the thread should notify the MDI child that the calculations are done, so that the MDI child can perform the post-processing. How can I achieve this: Should I use explicit threading (i.e., create explicit threads), thread pools? Or simply just propose your solution. Should I create foreground or background threads? And how does the thread communicates with the GUI, according the solution you propose? If you know of a working example that handles a similar situation, please make a note.

I need this value to figure out the total page count given a page size and a few other variables. This is what i have so far which takes in the starting row and the page size using the skip and take statements. promotionInfo = (from p in matches orderby p.PROMOTION_NM descending select p).Skip(startRow).Take(pageSize).ToList(); I know i could run another query, but figured there may be another way of achieving this count without having to run the query twice. I.e., 2.2.12 is greater than 2.2.7, and 2.3.15 is greater than 2.3.9, etc. Unfortunately, I can't think of an easy way to do that without using CHARINDEX or some complicated other split-like logic. Running this query: SELECT MAX(Version) FROM my_table will yield the erroneous result: 2.3.9 When it should really be 2.3.15. Any bright ideas that don't get too complex?

  Hi I'm receiving the following error on my shared hosting box: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 5 Out of memory (Needed 4194092 bytes) This error is only triggered on a specific page. I guess this indicates that I am reaching the upper limit of the 64MB allocated to me in my current MySQL environment. Does this mean that a single query is going over (returning) 64MB of data? If so, i guess i can just track down and tune that specific query? Or isnt that the correct approach? Thanks Jon

  Hi. I am writing a plugin for wordpress and I want to create my own search. I have tried to alter the wordpress search, but what I am doing is very specific with the SQL query. I am comparing lat and long coordinates and getting posts based on that. I can display posts by using the standard wpdb query, but then I don't get the other features like paging. I'd like to be able to use my SQL statement with the WP_Query function. If I'm right in thinking, I should then be able to use the paging and other features which come from the $posts global variable. Is this right?? I've googled for hours but can't find anything for plugins outside of using args to select categories etc. I simply need to send a complete SQL command - nothing else. Many thanks....

Now I want to use it in a java application, but I can't find any resources how to register the factory. • A PHP design pattern for the model part [PHP Zend Framework]

  I have a PHP MVC application using Zend Framework. As presented in the quickstart, I use 3 layers for the model part : Model (business logic) Data mapper Table data gateway (or data access object, i.e. one class per SQL table) The model is UML designed and totally independent of the DB. My problem is : I can't have multiple instances of the same "instance/record". For example : if I get, for example, the user "Chuck Norris" with id=5, this will create a new model instance wich members will be filled by the data mapper (the data mapper query the table data gateway that query the DB). Then, if I change the name to "Duck Norras", don't save it in DB right away, and re-load the same user in another variable, I have "synchronisation" problems... (different instances for the same "record") Right now, I use the Multiton pattern : like Singleton, but multiple instances indexed by a key (wich is the user ID in our example). But this is complicating my developpement a lot, and my testings too. How to do it right ?

  When you need to compare two tables to see what the differences are, are there any tools or shortcuts you use, or do you handcode the SQL to compare the two tables? Background: In my SQL Server environment, I created a stored procedure which inspects the metadata of the two tables/views, creates a query (as dynamic sql) which joins the two tables on the specified key columns, and compares data in the compare columns, reporting key differences and data differences. The query can either be printed and modified/copied or just excecuted as is. We are not allowed to create stored procedures in our Teradata environment, unfortunately.

• Problem using Hibernate-Search

  Hi, I am using hibernate search for my application. It is well configured and running perfectly till some time back, when it stopped working suddenly. The reason according to me being the number of my model (bean) classes. I have some 90 classes, which I add to my configuration, while building my Hibernate Configuration. When, I disable hibernate search (remove the search annotations and use Configuration instead of AnnotationsConfiguration), I try to start my application, it Works fine. But,the same app when I enable search, it just hangs up. I tried debugging and found the exact place where it hangs. After adding all the class to my AnnotationsConfiguration object, when I say cfg.buildSessionfactory(), It never comes out of that statement. (I have waited for hours!!!) Also when I decrease the number of my model classes (like say to half i.e. 50) it comes out of that statement and the application works fine.. Can Someone tell why is this happening?? My versions of hibernate are: hibernate-core-3.3.1.GA.jar hibernate-annotations-3.4.0.GA.jar hibernate-commons-annotations-3.1.0.GA.jar hibernate-search-3.1.0.GA.jar Also if need to avoid using AnnotationsConfiguration, I read that I need to configure the search event listeners explicitly.. can anyone list all the neccessary listeners and their respective classes? In second query Any returns true so it won't work with Count. Suggest me a way to implement this.

  I'm working on pseudo-transport layer software that runs over UDP, providing reliable connection-oriented transmission, as an alternative to TCP. In order to maximize network efficiency, we query the MTU of the "best" network adapter upon initialization. MIB_IFROW row = {0}; row.dwIndex = dwBestIfIndex; dwRes = GetIfEntry(&row); Searching online I found that you can use the following netsh commands to query for this same value, from a command prompt (not a C++ API) netsh interface ipv4 show interfaces netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces The troubling issue is that while row.dwMtu may be set to 1500, snooping the network traffic on the sending laptop shows that our packets are fragmented into 1300 byte packets. netsh also reports that the MTU is 1300. Clearly the value reported by netsh command is the actual used values. Anyone know what API I can call to get the same values as netsh?

  i have a DetailsView that is populated by a Linq to Entities query. Example query is below. Dim Record = From L In db.MyRecords _ Where L.RecordID = 100 _ Select ID = L.RecordID, L.column1, L.column2, L.column3, L.column4 DetailsView2.DataSource = Record DetailsView2.DataBind() The defaultMode for the DetailsView is Edit. Now if this Detailsview was bound to a datasource control, i would convert a column to a templateColumn and programatically access cell values like so Dim NameTextBox As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox = CType(DetailsView2.Rows(1).Cells(1).FindControl("TextBox1"), System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox) such that i can then say NameTextBox.Text to get the Name value. But the problem i have is, with this detailsview which is unbound, i have no column at design time to convert to a template, and yet i want to access its cell values. help is appreciated.

How does rails implement this? I'm new to Ruby and I'm wondering if there's a special construct that allows this to happen. To be able to chain methods like that, the functions generated by named_scope must be returning themselves or an object than can be scoped further. But how does Ruby know that it is the last function call and that it should query the database now? I ask this because the statement above actually queries the database and not just returns an SQL statement that results from chaining.
