• Ubuntu 10.04 not detecting multiple monitors

  I have 2 graphics cards, the output from the lspci: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV770 [Radeon HD 4850] 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV710 [Radeon HD 4350] I have one monitor connected to the 4850 and 2 connected to the 4350. However when I go into System Preferences Monitors the only monitor shown is the one connected to the 4850. Is there something I need to enable for it to be able to use the other card? How do I get this to work. Thanks.   I have a problem where I can't add a printer on my Windows 7 machine, because it fails with "The printer driver is unknown" (error code 1797) using WMI/VBScript. The thing is that the printer driver already exists on the PC. I've used AddPrinterConnection to connect to the remote printer queue, and the drivers get installed. I've confirmed they exist by a) Enumerating Win32_PrinterDriver with WBEMTEST utility which shows the driver, and also in the Printer Management MMC snap-in. Is there some other scriptable way I can get this to work? I'm adding a local TCP/IP port, pointing my new printer object instance to use that port and the driver from using AddPrinterConnection, and giving it a name, but it refuses to work...

  I have a Acer Revo nettop. I wiped the XP Home install that came on the machine and put XP Pro on. Acer's support website would lead you to believe that this product does not exist. I know it has a NVIDIA ION LE chipset so I headed over to nvidia.com to download drivers. Ive downloaded and installed the Chipset drivers, Graphics Drivers, and HDMI audio drivers. I have no sound. Under Device Manager there is an unknown Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus. I do not have an HDMI cable to test hdmi audio. I would just like the standard audio mini-jack output to work. Anyone know of the correct driver or a generic driver that would work? Thanks

  Hi, I heard that nginx is faster and since im on a VPS with low ram i thought id try it out. I cant find any reference to the problem on Google Also I have heard conflicting things about Nginx vs Apache. Some say use one, some say the other. Im using allsorts such as rewrite rules, proxies etc. Am I setting myself up for a fall by using Nginx?   I am currently using IE7 with XP SP3. When a webpage download with unknown file type loads, I get a prompt asking me what I want to do with the file. My options are FIND SAVE CANCEL. How do I make it so that I don't get this popup prompt, but Internet explorer automatically downloads the file into a directory I choose without asking? PS. I have already tried Tools Internet Options Security Internet Custom Level Downloads Disable/Enable/Enable, but this doesn't help. Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have to use IE. • PDF rendering issue os OSX

  I came across some very odd rendering when trying to view a PDF file that needed to print out. I was wondering anyone has come across a similar problem before or has any ideas as to what might be causing this. PDF when viewed on OSX 10.7.4 - Preview version 6.0. I've tried opening the file in Skim but that doesn't work either. PDF as it should be, and as Chrome renders it in browser, but not if I download it onto my machine. Illustrator complains about "an unknown imaging construct" when I open the file, but renders it fine nevertheless, Photoshop doesn't have any problems either.

I have a perfectly working code which beeps and discard if user inputs some character that doesnt match the regular expression.(for regular expression "[0-9]+" it accepts any number of digits and beeps if a letter is given as input) But the problem is I want to validate an input like "12500.00". Format should be any number of digits before decimal point and two digits after the decimal point. eg: ddd.dd I tried the following regular expression. But the i doesnt allow user to input "." character. It allows user to input any number of digits but when "." key is pressed input is not accepted. here is the regular expression I used. "[0-9]+ | [0-9]+. | [0-9]+.[0-9]{1} | [0-9]+{2}" important: user input is validated character by character as the user inputs them to the jtextfield.

  A couple of times I've been in the situation where I've wanted to refactor the design of some model and have ended up putting update logic in migrations. However, as far as I've understood, this is not good practice (especially since you are encouraged to use your schema file for deployment, and not your migrations). How do you deal with these kind of problems? To clearify what I mean, say I have a User model. Since I thought there would only be two kinds of users, namely a "normal" user and an administrator, I chose to use a simple boolean field telling whether the user was an adminstrator or not. However, after I while I figured I needed some third kind of user, perhaps a moderator or something similar. In this case I add a UserType model (and the corresponding migration), and a second migration for removing the "admin" flag from the user table. And here comes the problem. In the "add_user_type_to_users" migration I have to map the admin flag value to a user type. Additionally, in order to do this, the user types have to exist, meaning I can not use the seeds file, but rather create the user types in the migration (also considered bad practice). • Problems with VBScript - RegRead when running as a service

  I am working on a script that runs under a custom installation utility, which is running as a service. To get the current user name the script executes this command: str_Acct_Name_Val = "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Logon User Name" str_Acct_Name = RegRead(str_Acct_Name_Val) When I run the script from the command prompt, it can read that value just fine (under an administrator account). When the value is attempted to be read with service/local system privileges, the read fails. What is the problem here? EDIT: Some additional information. When running as a service calling the current user name returns "SYSTEM" and my guess is that HKCU doesn't "exist" under the view of the SYSTEM, since there is technically no current user. There is a user logged in at the time, but not in the scope of the running script. Maybe there is somewhere in HKLM I could find the currently logged on user?

Now the data in this file might be invalid, so I'm trying to figure out the best error handling design. For example, the text file might have character data in the Age field. Now my question is, should I throw an exception such as InvalidAgeException from the method reading the file data? And suppose there is length restriction on the Name field, so if the length is greater than max characters do I throw a NameTooLongException or just an InvalidNameException, or do I just accept it and wait until the business layer gets a hold of it and throw exceptions from there? (If you can point me to a good resource that would be good too)

I am asking what is the best known method of protecting Java classes against de-compiling? If you aware of any research or academic paper in this field please do let me know.
