  • Blocked Google Engage Account [closed]

    I have a Google Engage account, which keeps showing me: Your Google Account has changed The email address on your Google Account has changed. The account that controls your Engage membership now has an email address of: fasheikh15%[email protected]. How can I fix this? Go to the sign-in page: Sign In Log in with your normal password but instead use the following email address: myemailadd%[email protected] You will then be given the option to switch your Engage member profile to: [email protected]. If you wish to do this then just follow the on-screen instructions when you get to the Switch Accounts page. I've been contacting them since April to no avail so I thought I'd see if anyone here has any fixes?

  • Javascript/CSS rollover menus are patented and subject to licensing?

    Very interesting finding that a client brought to my attention today regarding javascript style rollover menus. They got a call from their legal dept that they need to change the manner in which their rollover menu is activated (at the risk of having to pay license to continue using the navigation technique). Its no April fools joke, apparently this is really happening. Apparently a company named Webvention LLC has obtained enforcement rights to a patent, U.S. Patent No. 5,251,294 - "Accessing, assembling, and using bodies of Information." A menu link, that when rolled over, expands to show a list of categorized, related links. Dropdown menus and slide-out menus are examples of this patented navigational methodology. A key component of this patent is that the dropdown/slide-out action must be initiated by a rollover or mouseover event. If the dropdown/slide-out action is initiated by any other event, such as a mouse-click event, then this behavior is not in violation of the patent.   • Any Red5 Working Example Project for 0.9 release

    I'm trying to find 1, just 1, working sample project for Red5 that's updated to work against the latest 0.9 release without missing jars and other nonsense. Right now, it's at v0.9 and the libs are different from other versions. They have 5 pathetic examples on their website, but all were built with the older versions, and who knows which version since they don't seem to be putting any effort into updating or marketing their open source project. For these 5 old examples, I could use the Add External JARS feature to try and add libs from previous versions, they don't mention which versions they were built against and I'm not going to try each previous version to see which works (I already did and nothing works). P.S. Voted the worst documented project on the planet. It's hilarious, one of their developers posted a few videos on youtube, without bothering to attach a sample zip for the get-started project he's demoing. No offense, but that's seriously #(#$$#($!@#*. Not a good start for any tech decision maker to assess a technology for commercial use. Anyone who's more intelligent and can shed some light on behalf of these fools?

  • Datastore performance, my code or the datastore latency

    I had for the last month a bit of a problem with a quite basic datastore query. It involves 2 db.Models with one referring to the other with a db.ReferenceProperty. The problem is that according to the admin logs the request takes about 2-4 seconds to complete. I strip it down to a bare form and a list to display the results. The put works fine, but the get accumulates (in my opinion) way to much cpu time. #The get look like this: outputData['items'] = {} labelsData = Label.all() for label in labelsData: labelItem = label.item.name if labelItem not in outputData['items']: outputData['items'][labelItem] = { 'item' : labelItem, 'labels' : [] } outputData['items'][labelItem]['labels'].append(label.text) path = os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__), 'index.html') self.response.out.write(template.render(path, outputData)) #And the models: class Item(db.Model): name = db.StringProperty() class Label(db.Model): text = db.StringProperty() lang = db.StringProperty() item = db.ReferenceProperty(Item) I've tried to make it a number of different way ie. instead of ReferenceProperty storing all Label keys in the Item Model as a db.ListProperty. My test data is just 10 rows in Item and 40 in Label. So my questions: Is it a fools errand to try to optimize this since the high cpu usage is due to the problems with the datastore or have I just screwed up somewhere in the code? ..fredrik

  • When to drop an IT job

    In my career I have had two programming jobs. Both these jobs were in a field that I am most familiar with (C# / MSSQL) but I have quit both jobs for the same reason: unmanageable code and bad (loose) company structure. There was something in common with both these jobs: small companies (in one I was the only developer). Currently I am in the following position: being given written instructions which are almost impossible to follow (somewhat of a fools errand). we are given short time constraints, but seldom asked how long work will take, and when we do it is always too long and needs to be shorter (and when it ends up taking longer than they need it to take, it's always our fault). there is no time for proper documenting, but we get blamed for not documenting (see previous point). Management is constantly screwing me around, saying I'm underperforming on a given task (which is not true, and switching me to a task which is much more confusing). So I must ask my fellow developers: how bad does a job need to be before you would consider jumping ship? And what to look out for when considering taking a job. In future I will be asking about documented procedures, release control, bug management and adoption of new technologies. EDIT: Let me add some more fuel to the fire ... I have been in my current job for just over a year, and the work I am doing almost never uses any of the knowledge I have gained from the other work I have been doing here. Everything is a giant learning curve. Because of this about 30% of my time is learning what is going on with this new product (who's owner / original developer has left the company), 30% trying to find the relevant documentation that helps the whole thing make sense, 30% actually finding where to make the change, 10% actually making the change.

    Take for example the following regex match. preg_match('!^publisher/([A-Za-z0-9\-\_]+)/([0-9]+)/([0-9]{4})-(january|february|march|april|may|june|july|august|september|october|november|december):([0-9]{1,2})-([0-9]{1,2})/([A-Za-z0-9\-\_]+)/([0-9]+)(/page-[0-9]+)?$!', 'publisher/news/1/2010-march:03-23/test_title/1/page-1', $matches); print_r($matches); It produces the following: Array ( [0] => publisher/news/1/2010-march:03-23/test_title/1/page-1 [1] => news [2] => 1 [3] => 2010 [4] => march [5] => 03 [6] => 23 [7] => test_title [8] => 1 [9] => /page-1 ) However as the last match is optional it can also work with matching the following "publisher/news/1/2010-march:03-23/test_title/1". My problem is that I want to be able to match (/page-[0-9]+) if it exists, but match only the page number so "publisher/news/1/2010-march:03-23/test_title/1/page-1" would match like so: Array ( [0] => publisher/news/1/2010-march:03-23/test_title/1/page-1 [1] => news [2] => 1 [3] => 2010 [4] => march [5] => 03 [6] => 23 [7] => test_title [8] => 1 [9] => 1 ) I've tried the following regex '!^publisher/([A-Za-z0-9\-\_]+)/([0-9]+)/([0-9]{4})-(january|february|march|april|may|june|july|august|september|october|november|december):([0-9]{1,2})-([0-9]{1,2})/([A-Za-z0-9\-\_]+)/([0-9]+)/?p?a?g?e?-?([0-9]+)?$!' Is it possible in a single regex?

  • Possible to set monthCalendar to show current month and previous 2 months?

    In a WinForms (3.5) application there is form with a monthCalendar control. The calendar control has a calendarDimension of 3 columns by 1 row. This means that it currently shows June, July, August of 2010. Is it possible to have the calendar to show April, May, June of 2010 instead? My dataset doesn't have any future dates so the date selection will be for current or older dates.

I have found Lemmon but it seems to be a dead project. The last checkin was in mid 2009... :-/ There is also a eclipse blog entry from april 2009, but it's not a real success story. Has anyone successfully used OSGI in a GAE app?

  • Visual Studio 2010's Build Command: It does nothing

    I'm using Visual C# 2010 Express RTM with Windows Phone Developer Tools April CTP Refresh and when I run any Build option, nothing happens. I've deleted the contents of the build output folders and that doesn't do anything. I can't even run the project, because it complains the executable is missing (XNA Game for Windows project). I've tried the project on another computer and it builds just fine. Any ideas?
