  • Windows API Programming

    I found this site, http://www.apitalk.com/document.php?id=1184207999_1 and I'm not sure if this site is using ATL, STL, MFC, or just calling API functions directly. I have done console programming with C++ and graphics programmign with C++ in Borland, but I've have never done Win32 C++ programming and I'm curious if anyone knows of a good site to start with? Does anyone know of any good sites to recommend about getting up and going fast with Win32 API C++?

  • Logging class using delegates (NullReferenceException)

    I have created a small application but I would now like to incorporate some type of logging that can be viewed via listbox. The source of the data can be sent from any number of places. I have created a new logging class that will pass in a delegate. I think Im close to a solution but Im receiving a NullReferenceException and I don’t know the proper solution.   • Comparing a time delta in python

    I have a variable which is <type 'datetime.timedelta'> and I would like to compare it against certain values. Lets say d produces this datetime.timedelta value 0:00:01.782000 I would like to compare it like this: #if d is greater than 1 minute if d>1:00: print "elapsed time is greater than 1 minute" I have tried converting datetime.timedelta.strptime() but that does seem to work. Is there an easier way to compare this value?

  • When should I use $ (and can it always be replaced with parentheses)?

    From what I'm reading, $ is described as "applies a function to its arguments." However, it doesn't seem to work quite like (apply ...) in Lisp, because it's a binary operator, so really the only thing it looks like it does is help to avoid parentheses sometimes, like foo $ bar quux instead of foo (bar quux). Am I understanding it right? Is the latter form considered "bad style"?

    I need to transform a lot of XML files (Fedora export) into a different kind of XML. Trying to do it with XSL stylesheets and checking with the msxsl transformer.   • C# Proxy using Sockets, how should I do this?

    I'm writing a proxy using .NET and C#. I haven't done much Socket programming, and I am not sure the best way to go about it. What would be the best way to implement this? Should I use Synchronous Sockets, Asynchronous sockets? Please help! It must... Accept Connections from the client on two different ports, and be able to receive data on both ports at the same time. Connect to the server on two different ports, and be able to send data on both ports as the same time. Immediately connect to the server and start forwarding packets as soon as a client connection is made. Forward packets in the same order they were received. Be as low latency as possible. I don't need the ability for multiple clients to connect to the proxy, but it would be a nice feature if its easy to implement.   • Python beginer having trouble running code

    For some reason this code will not seem to run in the interpreter. When I hit F5 nothing happens, not even the debugger seems to recognize it. I assume it has something to do with the class, as when removed the interpreter seems to recognize the rest of the code. Please tell me what I am doing wrong.     I was told that 95% of all loops in Python are "for" loops. Since "while" loops are clearly more "dangerous" than "for" loops, I would like to know if there are situations in which the use of a "while" loop is essential. For teaching purposes it would be useful to know if there is a systematic way of transforming "while" loops into "for" loops.

    I'm confused about what to do... I'm working on a user's page where they can view certain things only if their supervisor has given them "money" or "credits". I need a simple way to get the person that is their supervisor by doing something like: $data['employer'] = $this->home_model->getEmployees(array('user_id'=>$manager_id)); Basically, get the user information about a person who's user_id matches the manager_id of the currently logged in member. I don't know how to set the variable $manager_id. Additional Information: The current user has an id, and a manager_id. I need the id of the manager. So, I need to grab the manager_id of the logged-in user and find the manager who's user_id is that of the manager_id. What's the process to do this? I can get each individually, but I don't know how to use one to get the other... I know it is confusing, but I'm confused! Thanks for the help!

    Hello all, I am trying to parse some data and just started reading up on regular Expressions so I am pretty new to it. I've created an ugly, procedural monadic verb in J to generate the first n terms in this sequence, as follows: rowland =: monad define result =. 0 $ 0 t =. 1 $ 7 while. (By n terms, I mean the first n distinct primes.) I don't have a clue, although I did write the following function to find the differences between each successive number in a list of numbers, which is one of the required steps. I have a few types I'd like to insert into each record: A float, and then 3 groups of n floats, currently a tuple but could be an array or list.. I'm not well-enough versed in Python to understand all the differences. My problem is the INSERT statement.     ok im gonna try my best to explain my problem i have this program where u can select 5 balls when u select one you can take it with you while you have the mouse button pressed and its within the ball radius. I usually surround my connections with a try/finally, and I always close the connection in the finally clause. Given the above code, is it reasonable to assume that the connection will be closed if there is an exception?
