  • GridView's NewValues and OldValues empty in the OnRowUpdating event.

    I have the GridView below. I am binding to a custom datasource in the code behind. It gets into the "OnRowUpdating" event just fine, but there are no NewValues or OldValues.   • How do I get a JPanel with an empty JLabel to take up space in a GridBagLayout

    I am working on a GUI for a project at school. I am using a GridBagLayout in swing. I want to have a label indicating the input(a type of file @ x = 0, y = 0), followed by another label(the actual file name once selected @ x = 1, y = 0), followed by a browse button for a file chooser( @ x = 2, y = 0). The label at (1,0) is initially blank, however I want the area that the text will occupy to take up some space when the label contains no text. I also want the space between the label at (0,0) and the button at (2,0) to remain constant. To achieve this, I'm trying to put the label onto a panel and then play with the layouts. However I can't seam to achieve the desired results. Could anyone offer some suggestions? The next three rows of the GridBagLayout will be laid out exactly the same way.   • how much time does grid.py take to run ?

    Hello all , I am using libsvm for binary classification.. I wanted to try grid.py , as it is said to improve results.. Why might this happen? The daemon I am connecting to is running v 7.5.1 of the software, and the rvconfig.jar that I am using is from v 7.5.1 as well. Is there a gotcha when using Tibco's DaemonManager that is causing me to come unstuck?

    I'm using the Jison parser generator for Javascript and am having problems with my language specification. The program I'm writing will be a calculator that can handle feet, inches and sixteenths. I simply added the first line. The regex correctly matches feet, inch, sixteenths, such as 6'4" (six feet, 4 inches) or 4"5s (4 inches, 5 sixteenths) with any kind of whitespace between the numbers and indicators. The problem is that the regex also matches a null string. As a result, the lexical analysis always records a FIS at the start of the line and then the parsing fails. Here is my question: is there a way to modify this regex to guarantee that it will only match a non-zero length string?

    I want to make an Application that only has a NotifyIcon. It doesn't need to have at all a "Main" Form. When I want to achieve something like this, I just create an invisible form and run it, but would there be a more "elegant" way of doing this, I'd like to know it. How do you generally do this? This application can't be a Windows Service, as having the NotifyIcon and its Context Menus is important (each one of them will run a different command). Thanks

  • How to do Linq aggregates when there might be an empty set?

    I have a Linq collection of Things, where Thing has an Amount (decimal) property. I'm trying to do an aggregate on this for a certain subset of Things: var total = myThings.Sum(t => t.Amount); and that works nicely. But then I added a condition that left me with no Things in the result: var total = myThings.Where(t => t.OtherProperty == 123).Sum(t => t.Amount); And instead of getting total = 0 or null, I get an error: System.InvalidOperationException: The null value cannot be assigned to a member with type System.Decimal which is a non-nullable value type. That is really nasty, because I didn't expect that behavior. I would have expected total to be zero, maybe null - but certainly not to throw an exception! What am I doing wrong? What's the workaround/fix?

I will need to execute queries that return result sets and ones that just execute stored procedures without any results. Is this possible with MySqlDataAdapter.Fill or do I need to use the MySqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() method?     I had another post for the same problem... I think I put the question in a wrong way.. Let me give more details: i have test.html in my c:\ drive and I have a local webserver runnin in qt, and i have some plugin written to that webserver which will get the request and send some response text "hello". in test.html i m making a xml xhr request which will make a GET request like localhost:8080/test which will return the text "hello" by that plugin. Now if I directly open test.html from C:\ it doesnt work, i mean i get response 4 and status 0, and response text nothing.. but the request is passing through webserver and plugin It works fine, when the test.html is put in the webserver pages directory.

String s = "" + c1 + c2; I've seen people who say that the "" + "trick" is "ugly", etc, and that you should use String.valueOf or Character.toString instead. I prefer this construct because: I prefer using language feature instead of API call if possible In general, isn't the language usually more stable than the API? If language feature only hides API call, then even stronger reason to prefer it! More abstract! Hiding is good! I like that the c1 and c2 are visually on the same level String.valueOf(c1) + c2 suggests something is special about c1 It's shorter. Is there really a good argument why String.valueOf or Character.toString is preferrable to "" +?
